  1. Lmao. Who are these fans who would be enraged if Cam took a reasonable team friendly deal?
  2. I don't know who is better at WR, Moore has obviously never played here before. He put up some numbers in Oakland, we know this. As far as Ginn, I think most here realize that he can have an impact at WR, but nobody is penciling him in and putting a check next to WR like we are done. We need more on offense. I don't really care about fan favorites or any of that. If you got a hard on for Denarius. Great. If he comes here I will support him like any other Panther. If Brown or Boykin don't work out, so be it. But I'm tired of shuffling through WR's over and over and over while our offense suffers. I'll just hope for the best. At this point I think Gettleman is eyeing the draft for receiving help. There are a lot of guys in FA getting overpaid. The awful contracts like the one KC gave to Dwayne Bowe a few years back haven't really helped. Like I said in an earlier post, we need a #2. Arguing over #3 and #4 is rather pointless. We've got enough of those, and if we need more then they aren't all that hard to find.
  3. While at times we were using Cotchery in absurd situations, he dropped a lot of passes, and only caught 1 touchdown all year. He wasn't brought in to be a #3 or a #4. He was supposed to compliment KB, and instead he often disappeared. I expected more from him after we signed him. I can only hope that gaining continuity with Cam this offseason will help. But if he is just going to quit on routes and drop game winning touchdown passes, well, I don't think much of that will matter.
  4. Didn't you admit in another thread that you've been talking poo about Ginn because he wasn't Denarius Moore? That doesn't seem to be a smidge hypocritical to you now that you are telling others to "take the emotion out of it", and blasting them for supposedly shitting on other guys?
  5. Well I'm glad you learned a lesson. I agree with you on many things honestly. This isn't really one of them though of course. Maybe you should take a look at your mentioned approach that you have taken with Denarius Moore (who has been in the league 4 seasons) that "the story hasn't been completed" and actually consider applying that to Corey Brown (who only has 1 single season under his belt). That's really all I'm saying. There may be a few homers here who see Brown as more than what he is, but most have pretty reasonable expectations. I think he could possibly be a good #3 for us if he adds some bulk and can stay healthy. We still need a #2 WR pretty badly though. On Boykin, I don't know a whole lot about him, he'll compete just like Brown. I'm okay with the signing if he can impact on ST.
  6. Cheap depth. Let's hope Matsko can do something with him. Bring in as much competition as possible. There should be no excuses this year if we have inadequate protection for our QB.
  7. After your love affair with guys like David Gettis, and Denarius Moore, is it really fair for you to poo all over CB in this thread? I mean I'm not guaranteeing that he will be on the roster, he's got to bulk up some, but I think he has a legitimate shot at contributing here. Not to mention he's only been in the league one season. If he gets hurt again maybe things change, but I wouldn't write him off yet. It's still March...
  8. It clearly showed to anyone who watched that we did not have the offensive firepower to keep up with the Seahawks in the playoffs this past year. If the goal is to win a Super Bowl, which it obviously should be, then the road to a Lombardi trophy will go through Seattle. It's time to upgrade. Gettleman is no fool, if we can see it, so can he.
  9. OPFM is taking CelibatePimp behind the woodshed in here. Quite entertaining.
  10. Of course we can't have a thread about our franchise QB without someone mentioning Vick.
  11. That wasn't the point I was trying to make. It was a mere part of it. Newton was progressing very well by the end of the 2013 season. that's clear. 2014 he struggled at certain points, but he still shined once he was able to finally get healthy, gain some continuity with his entirely new WR core, and when our OL finally played well. All of the factors that Newton dealt with in 2014 would have been difficult for any quarterback to overcome, let's not minimize that.
  12. Wow, nice of you to completely ignore everything in that post. If that's how you want to play it, why did you bring up Andy Dalton then? It's okay to mention Dalton to support your flawed argument, but mentioning other QB's when it does not suit your argument is not acceptable? You've made it clear what your agenda is.
  13. You might want to take a look at Andrew Luck's completion % before throwing that around. No other QB in NFL history has accounted for more touchdowns as quickly as Newton has in his first 4 seasons. Fact of the matter is, Newton did not come into the NFL having had 3-4 seasons in college to perfect his craft as a pocket passer like a number of the other guys. He had one year in the SEC. He's been playing catch up his first 4 NFL seasons. Give him time. He took the next step in 2013 when he had a real starting left tackle. Unfortunately 2014 was one big series of unfortunate circumstances all happening at once, with the surgery, the injuries, our FO deciding to clear out the entire WR core while Newton recovered from surgery, Gross retiring. It was not the norm by any means. Even with all that, early on in the season before the injuries began to pile up, Newton looked damn sharp as a pocket passer. This thread is quickly turning to a shitfest, like usual of course, so I'm just about done.
  14. Well maybe you should have elaborated on your own post then. Don't blame other people for your piss poor choice of words. So injuries and ankle surgery had absolutely nothing at all to do with his mechanics? Are you drunk?
  15. You couldn't think of any other word than lazy? Really? Hopefully that's just a mistake on your part. I don't think dealing with an ankle injury, a rib injury, and a back injury, yet still pushing through and starting 14 regular season games would fall under "lazy". All of the above mentioned factors had a substantial impact on his mechanics. It isn't like Cam was just out there like "I don't feel like applying what I've learned as a pocket passer today guys, fug it".
  16. He is stating the obvious, but he is correct. Newton is still developing, it's only his fifth season. The usual people have popped in to attempt to pile on, but they apparently didn't bother to read all of his comments. Typical.
  17. I like you top dawg, but I get the feeling that you are being so critical about the Ginn signing because his name wasn't Denarius.
  18. Agreed, we don't know what we have him in yet, it's still a question mark if anything. Which if you're Cam Newton, is concerning.
  19. There is worrying, and then there is just being idiotic. Of course then there is being realistic, and then there is just blindly sucking off our FO and pretending everything is perfect. We've got it all here.
  20. There is a middle ground here. You can have expectations without demanding to sign every free agent or spend a billion dollars. On the flip side you can be patient and let Gettleman's plan play out. I had to shake my head though at someone saying that we now have left tackle covered because we signed a project type of player in Michael Oher. I don't think Gettleman feels that way, not after witnessing Byron Bell for two seasons. I could be wrong though.
  21. You can argue all day about where he ranks amongst current head coaches. Really doesn't matter. I like him, I want him to succeed here. I think he is a really good coach, problem is, he may not be a really good "head coach". He cannot play the "I made a mistake, but I've learned from it, I promise guys" card anymore, because he's done just about all of it and supposedly learned from it more than once already in the past 4 seasons. That bullshit is just not going to fly in 2015.
  22. The best answer to this thread is worth a few laughs at least. Just how much traffic and web hits do these Hardy threads bring to the huddle? You can't be too broken up about it Jeremy, I know I wouldn't be lol.
  23. I think I saw one idiot who actually thought that. I may not agree with JR on everything, but I certainly think we could do much worse. My only wish is that JR showed a little more emotion about his football team losing as he did the image of the league. He certainly wasn't turning away fans money while all this was going on.
