We are no longer rank. We had a thread where we were ranked 1st in EVA or some such thing. So we are playing lights out better than when our last coach was here.

I'm not SCP, but my helmet is pointed in that general direction. Of course, it's been there for 3 years. So take that how you will.

Brock Purdy and why we don't need to draft a 1st round QB

Kinda like what we are almost doing for Sam? -
Steve Wilks has proved he has what it takes to be HC
Gerry Green replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you want to hold what happened in Zona on Wilks, that's fine. But if you look at it fairly, he was set up to fail. They wanted Kingsbury. I never brought up Rhule, not sure where you are getting that? Lots of ppl that don't want Wilks as our next coach. Doesn't not automatically mean the rest of us are wrong. You are acting like you already know what's going to happen, and basing it on a lot of elements outside Wilks control. -

I don't get this place sometimes. If we win a game it is because they sucked, if we lose a game it is because we suck. Wilks is automatically a Rivera/Fox clone. Wilks isn't an Xs and Os coach. We will be out-schemed. All things that are opinion/speculation based, stated as fact. Wilks, because he is a Defensive Coach is going to be unable to fill out a proper Offensive staff, is another one. The way the team is playing, you have to give Wilks his due. And if we continue to win? Things are gonna be right interesting up in here. There are a whole bunch of ppl excited for Panther football right now. Been a while since we could say that with a straight face. lol And a large part of the credit HAS to go to Wilks. IMO- 97 replies

Fug it. Just go with Scott Turner. He's lived NFL football his entire life. He has connections, so he'll have good input on putting a staff together. He's probably chomping at the bit to get a HC gig. And he has Panther roots. Which you guys seem to want. So he has that going for him as well. You guys want an Up-and-Comer. Well, there he is. It's a no brainer.

Big bruising RB with a little wiggle and decent speed are not a dime a dozen. Man, you guys kill me. Offer the man a fair contract, and hope he stays. I like Chubba and Blackbeard. But they are nowhere near the bruiser of a Foreman. Edit it add; Hey @mrcompletely11nuts. Heres' another post you can poo.

That works well for you. I just don't want to have to quote someone just to throw a LOL at them. Just throw a LOL at them and move on.
-
That is why I am advocating for a LOL icon. Nowadays if you want to LOL at someone, you have to quote them. I don't want to quote ppl for whom I want to LOL. Know what I mean?

Just an FYI. Sam threw the ball 24 times last week. And the earth is still turning.

That's a good way to look at it. We definitely are trending upward. But we are still a young team trying to learn to win. If we much this up, it could get ugly quickly. On the flip side. 2 hits in the right spots. QB, and OC. And we can become scary really quick. Although say MacAdoo is gone could be a tad premature.

It only takes a little luck to build this thing up. In other words. I guess it all comes down to Fitts, and his relationship with Wilks. Are they on the same page? If so, we really do have the makings of something to build upon.

YEAH!!!!

If we play to our capabilities, the Lions are the only team that scares me. If we can get past them. I can truly see us winning the South. But then again. Who the heck knows?

How good is Brian Burns 2022 campaign?
Gerry Green replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Do you even remember what my original post said? I said; That it seemed like Burns was facing a TE every play. If he moved to the other side, there was a TE there waiting on him. That sure doesn't sound like a post that needs this level of animosity. But have hat it. Cuz I'm done with you. Also, why do you have to be soo...hostile? You act like I done you wrong. It's a message board for crying out loud. -
Ball control teamed with a good/great D can make other teams weary. All you need is a QB that can keep the chains moving, and hit a deep one when the box is stacked. Nothing spectacular, just Steady Eddie can do it. Sound teams that play fundamental football are going to be in most games. But having that Quality QB? That adds a measure of scarability. We get that Quality QB, and that could be us.

How good is Brian Burns 2022 campaign?
Gerry Green replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
But @Toomers just said Burns was across from Cross 70% of the time. You both can't be right. And maybe I am too. All I said was the Burns seemed to have a TE across from him everywhere he went. And it has turned into this. It sure seems like ppl don't just want to tell you when you are wrong. They want to beat you over the head with it as well. Life is too much fun for this. So, I'm out. Burns was made to have a bad day. Damm happy we won. -
Truthfully, all I want is a HC that can do 3 things. Lead, motivate, and find good ASSTs. Look at Campell in Detroit. Almost his entire staff is made up of former players. Putting a staff together is just one of three keys. But it all falls apart if you don't get all 3. Can Wilks do that? Personally, I say yes. He has the contacts. He is self-aware. And he can definitely lead and motivate.
-
I've been saying that we need to establish a new coaching position. Asst. to the OC. He can learn the ropes, and when the OC leaves, he takes over. He then hires him an ASST. and we repeat the process to infinity and beyond.

I claimed that Burns had a slow day because no matter where he went there always seemed to be a TE to greet him. 1 guy says that the Hawks play 2 TE a lot, so there was almost always going to be a TE across from Burns. Another guy says that Burns was across from Cross 70% of the time. Just one of those things that make you go hmmm? -
I think a lot of it will come down to who the OC is. Who does he want. Can we get him. Lots and lots of interesting goings on coming up.

This will be my last response to this. Because it's just the same back-and-forth over and over again. Who cares how we won. At the end of the year you do not get bonus points for how you won. As long as the team keeps winning, the stronger the chance Wilks returns. If, by some act of God, we do win the South. Wilks will have an 8-4 record. With a 6 game winning streak going. That is how you start a winning culture. A win is a win. You can quantify it all you want. But it's still a win. Ppl are upset when we lose, and upset when we win. Man, I love this joint.

Winning begets winning. Can't wait to see where this all goes.
