  1. I agree. Stats can be a useful tool when forming an argument. But on their own, they are a curse. lol
  2. It wasn't about Ickey. I was about you telling others to, how'd you say it? "stop caring about popularity awards." Not sure if you know it, but that's not your call to make. I didn't say anything about Ickey. You might want to brush up on your comprehension skills.
  3. There are 2 teams with a realistic shot at the SuperB owl. Buf, and KC. both their QBs were taken right around where we will be sitting. You play to win, take what you get, and do the best you can with it. Edit to add; Or Hurts in the 2nd, and Prescott in the 4th. It may be nice to have a top pick. But if you play it right. You don't need it.
  4. I get really confused about stat usage around here. Stats are good if you want to make a point. Stats are bad when you want to make a counterpoint. However, stats, I've been told, are for losers. I guess I'll continue to use them when I think I need them, and lol at them when others use them? Is there a handbook for this sort of thing? lol
  5. IMO, the CBA is the reason there is so much bad football. Not enough practice time. I get that you can only get so much out of practice. That nothing beats actual playing time. But practice is the only time some of these guys have to impress the coaches.
  6. lol You may not care about our players getting recognition. However, there are a lot of us who truly enjoy it when our players win awards. It shows that we really do have some good players. So, I suppose you don't care that in Pro Bowl voting Hekker is leading his position. Or that Burns is 4th among DE? I mean, what's the use of rooting for a player, if you don't enjoy the little things that go along with that?
  7. Good point. In a perfect world, every QB would get a fair shot. Unfortunately, that's not how things go. The CBA doesn't allow for enough practice time for this to be a possibility. Man, the scouting gurus on here would go nuts having to actually learn more than just a few top names. Imagine the research that would go into picking a QB in the later rounds? Imagine the arguments over which 5th rounder has the most upside. It could be epic.
  8. Be interesting to see how far this Baker thread goes. Asking for a friend.
  9. Not gonna lie. It got off to a rocky start in Detroit. Campell was calling plays, and Goff was struggling. Then Campell gave the reins to Johnson. And boom, the light came on. The only people who are not high on Goff, are the ones that haven't watched him play.
  10. Using stats to evaluate is only part of the equation. You can make stats say whatever you want. The fact is. Detroit is 5th in scoring. (319) But their D has given up even more. (324) Tough to win when you score 30+ and lose. But hey, you still got that Payoff jinx to cling to.
  11. \ Don't believe everything you read. Goff is in no way in danger of his job. He and Johnson have been clicking since late last year.
  12. C'mon man. Goff has been playing well since Campell turned over playcalling to Johnson late last year. They finished last year on a 3 game winning streak. They were hoping to continue that this year, but the Defense let em down. Now the D is starting to step up. This ain't your daddy's Lions.
  13. I don't hate the Hawks. Hate is for Divisional foes. And for those of you, who hate the Panthers so much, I'm sure there are things you can do to put that hate to good use.
  14. Goff is having himself a really good year. Detroit is 5th in scoring. He is excited, and the team is excited. What more do you want from your QB? Some of you will say damn near anything to downplay a positive action. Oh, and the Coaching Staff of the Lions. Almost entirely made up of ex-players.
  15. Then how do you explain the plan for him to start Thur. night? The have Bryce Perkins, whose been on the team for 2 years. Yet Baker could start. Seems like they actually wanted him to me.
  16. "So... you're saying, all I have to do is hit the Gallery icon, and I can see my pictures? Follow-up, how do I get my pictures in there in the first place?
  17. According to Shefter, in a tweet I can't imbed, the Rams were the only team willing to pick up Baker. And he may start Thur. Gon be fun to see how this plays out. Lots and lots of Huddlers claimed his career as a starter could be over. With the QB room the Rams have, they may have to live or die with Baker. Burns is 4th in DE voting, and Hekker is 1st.
  18. TBH, I hope whoever is the Coach next year does not take a QB with our 1st pick. This is like the 10th year in a row where "Next Years" QBs look better. Other than that, this was a very entertaining thread. 8/10
  19. I am entertained by your banality. And you do realize you can both be optimistic, and critical, without going all Atila the Hun around here?
  20. Optimism may not make the team better. But this board, and the world as a whole, would be.
  21. Me as well. Now if he had half the class of his brother? I may change my tune. The shine is wearing off at Mich. Why else would they allow such a small buyout. If they wanted him, that buyout would be huge.
  22. Did you read the thread, or just being obtuse. @LinvilleGorge made a long story about how every negative imaginable will occur to our Panthers. So I wrote an opposing thought. Not that difficult if you follow along.
  23. You do realize I was responding to another post when I wrote that. I was questioning his post, not making a statement. No one in their right mind would put a 1st round QB on the practice squad. C'mon man.
