Richard Sherman makes a lot of sense right now
Mage replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sherman wouldn't really make a lot of sense. From what I'm seeing, we're asking our corners to play a lot of man. That is what is allowing us to play so free with our blitzes. Sherman is a good, veteran corner, but he excels in zone. He wouldn't fit here. But, I mean, it is maybe worth a shot. -
Matt Rhule never looks satisfied. Love it.

WHERES THE FLAG

It was the 2nd to last game. It's crazy how close we were to a perfect season.
-
The major problem with the 2015 defense was, we were not very good at getting pressure unless we blitzed. It was Short's best season by far and Addison was solid, but we didn't have an edge threat like this team has, or any of the defenses with Peppers, Hardy, and Johnson on it. That alone, to me, puts it below those units. It's hard to truly be a great defense without a great edge rusher. Yeah you could say Norman was elite that year, and he was, but he had his issues too vs speedsters. And the rest of the secondary was whatever.

This would bum me out. I know Collinsworth gets a lot of hate, but to me, him and Michaels work very well together. And as we've seen, finding a quality replacement is a lot easier said than done.
-
Okay, but that doesn't make it "historically" good. Unless by "historically" you are just referring to 2020. And nobody uses that word in that context.
-
How are the Jets historically good against the run?
-
Derrick Brown was unblockable all game.

I don't think the problem is McCaffrey. The interior OL just isn't effective in the run game. I would agree we should stop calling inside runs as frequently as we do though.

Official New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers Gameday Thread!
Mage replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Phil Snow is a SPECIAL defensive mind. Those blitzes on the last drive had me salivating... that is how you coach football. Don't be a freakin' pansy. Force them to make mistakes. Don't wait for them to make mistakes. I praised the hell out of Snow last year and he just keeps proving me right. What a pleasant freakin' surprise. -
No way.
-
Right lol I felt like one of the few people who actually defended him back then.

What was the explanation for punting on the Jets 33 yard line?
Mage replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, in retrospect, it would have been better to go for it. But ideally you would hope your punter is able to pin the opposing team in that situation. -

Nah, if you aren't going to kick the field goal, then punting is the better option. No reason to give the Jets momentum by going for it on 4th and 6 that early.
