  1. Right lol Watson is a borderline elite QB. Hayward was a solid NBA player who had a really strong couple of seasons.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn_q_qK5jac Remember when Watson went toe-to-toe with Brees and the Saints? When's the last time we saw a QB put up that kind of performance vs the Saints? 2015 Cam? Ya'll think we can just easily find a QB who can make a play like Watson did on that final touchdown? Taking a blind-side hit, pocket collapsing in front of him (this is for those who think our OL would hold Watson back), throws an absolute dime that is what, 30 yards downfield? Watson makes throws on a regular basis that are better than any throws we've seen from a Panthers QB since Cam's MVP season.
  3. Eh, I never thought Hayward was all that good. Well not as good as some people were hyping him up to be.
  4. Watson had over 400 yards and 3 touchdowns in his first AFC Championship game at 24 years old. Texans likely win that game if they play anyone but the Mahomes-led Chiefs. Question the compensation, question the fit, but there should be no question about what Watson could do when tasked with taking a contending team where they want to go. The boy is SPECIAL.
  5. One similarity they do have is that competitive spirit. This is my biggest problem with Teddy and Darnold. Yeah they suck but worse than that, they don't have that edge to them that Cam had. Or even Delhomme had - Delhomme was never great but dammit you knew he'd always put up a fight. Cam spoiled me, I'll never be able to accept a "it is what it is" QB ever again. Watson is determined as hell to win. That has always been his M.O.
  6. Someone questioned earlier if we've seen Watson rise to the occasion on a competitive team https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKhocS3rln0 Imagine having a 26-year old capable of making plays like that By the way, that Bills defense? 2nd in the league in points allowed that season. Same Bills team that went 13-3 the following year. Some of ya'll really are sleeping on Deshaun. And yeah, he had Hopkins in Houston... but in Carolina, it would easily be the best skill position group he's ever thrown to. The numbers he would put up would be stupid. Damn I really want this man. Honestly I think I've forgotten how special he was too.
  7. Man some people really have forgotten how good Watson is. Love Cam Panthers have NEVER had a QB who can make throws like that consistently
  8. If we get a franchise LT and QB in the same offseason, I'll quit drinking.
  9. I'd rather not see us trade Derrick Brown either. Especially if we trade Burns. Brown didn't have as good of a sophomore season as we would have liked, but he's 23, to be 24 years old. And he looked too good as a rookie for me to give up on him. I think his potential remains very high. Not that I'll be all up-in-arms if we trade him. But I think we should try to keep at least one of Burns/Brown.
  10. This is why I'm most okay giving up Burns. And while he is valuable in the sense that he is a pass rusher, he's not an all-around edge defender. He's not an untouchable level edge player like the Bosas, Garrett, TJ, etc. I'll still miss him though. My mom bought me his jersey last year and I love everything about him. But on-field wise, it is worth trading him in a package for Watson. I disagree with Chinn being off limits but I could be underrating him a tad. Admittedly I don't think I've ever been as high on him as other Panthers fans. But I do think he could be better if we paired him with a safety with near-unlimited range. We'll see though. Horn I 100% agree should be off limits. Not only is he still early enough in his rookie contract, but corners as skilled in man coverage as he is should not be shipped away when it can be avoided. I think the only other player I'd really not be a fan of us trading is DJ Moore. No. 1 WRs are important and Moore to me is a top-15 guy (which is really freakin' good). I'm most excited for him if we get Watson. Moore is going to be up insane numbers with a QB who can finally hit him downfield. Yeah Moore will need to get paid but lets be honest, nowadays you gotta pay for a WR. Whether it is your own or through draft picks, you will be paying something and likely a high premium unless you get lucky.
  11. Weird you list Herbert when Herbert's best season is 9-8 record. Watson has a higher TD% and Y/A than him. Better QB rating. Better CMP%. Only a slightly better winning %, but he also has 2 10+ win seasons. Better Y/C. A much higher AY/A. As a matter of fact, Watson's numbers are better across the board. I think it is a lot of recency bias to suggest Watson isn't top 5 NFL QB good. He was absolutely considered the second best young QB behind Mahomes before everything happened. I've got no issue if you prefer Herbert or Burrow though. Those guys are legit. But Watson is absolutely at the same level. He's insanely accurate and can make just about any throw. The biggest flaw with Watson is IMO he creates a lot of pressure for himself the same way Russell Wilson did.
  12. Newton has looked worse and worse every game since midseason of 2018. He is not reversing that trend. I love Cam. Favorite player. But I'd much rather watch Darnold continue to suck than Cam outstay his welcome. It was fun to have Cam back and get the closer both sides needed, but it is time to move on. If Cam wants to play, he should do it in a Taysom Hill kind of role for a contending team. Lot of value for him there. But as a starting QB? He sucks. So does Darnold but Darnold is already signed to the roster.
  13. Bro, its 3 years $15m lol that is nothing. A quality starting safety is easily worth 5m avg/yr
  14. Only reason I didn't is because I know for a fact when it does happen, there will be at least 5 different threads within a millisecond of Adam S or whomever tweeting it out
  15. Screw the Saints, but I think people are overplaying this. Gayle is the owner because her husband died, I doubt she would have added much of anything to the conversation and she likely has bigger things to handle. And Mickey Loomis has been the GM of the Saints since 2002. There is probably nobody more important in the front office than him.
  16. Hmm, this doesn't make sense to me. They have future 2nds they could trade. I seriously doubt they would be trading Brian Burns all over a 2nd round pick.
  17. Damn dirty as hell but what a memorable sports character/personality
  18. He's horrible. And this is someone who liked him in the pre-draft process... but you just gotta know when to accept your losses. I haven't seen a rookie look as overwhelmed as him in a long, long time. Accuracy is putrid. Pocket presence is awful - people crap on the Jets OL but he was a big reason they looked as bad as they did. Could he turn it around, absolutely. But Jets would be smart to not bank on him. Like yeah give him another chance for sure but don't turn down a franchise QB either because of a belief in Wilson
  19. Yeah but how can we know how valid the point is without knowing all the information? That is all I'm saying. Without knowing how many QBs in a given year eclipse 12.6% of their teams salary cap, then how can we make a determination that somehow 12.6% is the exact cut-off that cripples a teams chances to win a Super Bowl? Again, we're talking about 32 QBs in a year. 14-game single-elimination tournament. 1 champion. If only 2 guys are above that level, then off bat it is statistically unlikely for them to win the Super Bowl (even if we eliminate teams who obviously don't have a chance in a season) not because of how much they are making but because it is only 2 guys out of 32. If I told you that I'll give you $1m if any QB but a specific 2 didn't win, then who the hell wouldn't take that bet? I mean maybe if one of the QBs was Tom Brady... but has Brady ever made more than 12.6% of his teams salary cap?
