  1. I don't mind if we don't get a QB this offseason. It'd be preferred but not the end of the world. This team is in a great position in 2022. I'd only be mad if we replaced Teddy with a marginal, 'decent' improvement. If it ain't a franchise QB then stick with Teddy Bridgewater. Same ish with Cam. I 100% understood releasing him. The problem was replacing him with Teddy. Why not just stick with Cam at that point? Same thing here. Don't get rid of Teddy just to replace him with another mediocre QB. You either go after a guy like Watson or someone in the draft who you think can be a franchise QB, or you stick with Teddy.
  2. I see no reason why that can't be Russ though. He's never missed a game and doesn't rely on his mobility to the point where his game will have to change much in the next 3-4 years. Honestly, if ALL we had to do was give up 3 1st round picks? And not give up any other players? I'm easily taking that deal. Easily. That gives us a strong 3-year window at minimum to compete for a championship. Even if you don't think Wilson puts us in that talk this year, in 2022 we'll have so much cap space to make splash moves. Of course I think the Seahawks would want players in return. But the 3 1st round picks themselves don't bother me. Wilson is elite and he'd immediately make us a strong contender for the next 3-5 years.
  3. Lol Trask? May as well keep Teddy.
  4. Not sure how I feel about Justin Fields but if that is all we have to give up to move up to #3 then it is totally worth it.
  5. They could get fined up to $5m for each violation, the league itself could choose to cancel contracts, and they could lose draft picks. And Saints wouldn't be able to anything about it. Not sure about when it has to happen though. Maybe 7 days after the start of the new league year?
  6. Gonna be honest I haven't even considered the cap ramifications lol Wish the NFL had a trade machine like NBA has on ESPN
  7. True, but just based on everything I have heard and read, I do not get the impression that McNair would ever even consider firing Easterby. The Texans are Easterby's team and McNair's the guy empowering him. And that being the case, there really isn't anything that can be done under that power structure that will change Watson's mind. Best-case scenario is he says eff it and agrees to play, but now you're talking about a QB who really doesn't want to be there but just plays anyway. IMO as crazy as it sounds. When you consider the Texans lack of immediate draft capital or cap space. And consider that they will almost certainly suck even with Watson this year. I actually think you could argue trading Watson would be the best move for their rebuild. You will get a great player or two and a lot of picks. But they are not winning anything with Watson in the next 2 years.
  8. There has never, ever been a star player who demanded a trade and it didn't happen. At the end of the day, the game is the game, and the locker-room is the locker-room. When your best player vocally wants out, it creates an EXTREMELY toxic environment. Coaches don't want to deal with it. Teammates don't want to deal with it. I 100% guarantee you Culley would rather move on from the situation. It is a McNair/Easterby move to "keep him," which I don't think they will stick with a few months from now. Really the only way Watson stays is if he changes his mind. And what are the Texans gonna be able to do to change that? They don't have a lot of cap space and no good draft picks. They might wait to do it. But I'm 99.9% sure it will happen. It always happens. It just isn't worth it at the end of the day, because for as good as Watson is, you aren't gonna have team-success when your best player is PO'd and not fully committed.
  9. 3 1sts and McCaffrey I agree giving up Burns or Brown is dumb. But I think 3 1sts and CMC is a great deal, especially when you consider the 1st this year will likely be used on a QB no matter what. That pick is a wash IMO. And while I LOVE McCaffrey and consider him extremely valuable (I have his jersey and will always love it) he's worth throwing in there considering he's no longer on a rookie contract.
  10. It just isn't worth moving Moton to LT. Best case scenario is he is as good as LT as he is RT, but that more than likely wouldn't be the case. And he's already a Pro Bowl level RT at 26 years old. Doesn't turn 27 until August. He'll probably be playing at an All-Pro level these next 5 years barring injury. Sure, maybe if we found someone that could start at RT, then maybe try moving Moton. But we don't have that right now and we didn't last season. And if you are going to look for a RT when you already have a stud, then you might as well look for a LT. It just doesn't make sense to mess up something you already know is good to try and patch up another hole, which even if it works out just creates another hole. Panthers should just try and find a good LT so that we can have 2-bookend tackles for the next 5 years minimum. That is why I want Sewell so bad if we don't get a QB. Sewell on a rookie contract and Moton on a 5-year deal would be amazing. It would make us one of the best spots for a QB regardless of what happens with the WR position in 2022.
  11. It's just way too difficult to talk about this offseason without talking about a QB. That changes everything. Especially since our cap situation isn't in the best spot. Really the only moves worth talking about that we'll likely make are tagging and/or extending Moton and whatever we do with our picks, which will likely have to do with what we do at QB. I think we're just gonna have to take our time in FA and see who's willing to take on short-term deals for not a lot of money. Robby Anderson was an AMAZING find last year. Let's hope we can find a defensive equivalent to him in FA.
  12. If you think being "another Romo" is a bad thing, then that tells me all I need to know about what you know.
  13. Lol Big Ben? Rivers? Stafford? Dak Prescott is easily better than those guys right now.
  14. Eh maybe if Sewell isn't there but if he is available, you gotta take him. You just have to, unless a team is offering you a great great deal to move up. And an elite LT is worth a lot. If you agree Sewell has the potential to be that, then I don't think you trade down unless you are getting a future 1st (on top of whatever 1st the team trading with you already has) and multiple 2nds in return. But yes, if Sewell isn't there and Wilson/Lance/Fields are gone, then we should trade down.
  15. So you would rather them reach for a mediocre QB or overpay in a trade for one (other than Watson) than draft Sewell? I want a QB too. But we shouldn’t force it for the sake of if Wilson/Fields/Lance are off the board. Jones and Trask suck and it amazes me people would be okay with that in the 1st lol
  16. Imagine if we hold onto #8 and Pewell falls to us (which I think is way more likely than people think). And he'll be the LT for our QB in 2022? Let's go.
  17. I give Bridgewater a lot of crap... but I really don't mind going into the season with him as QB IF our attempts to snatch someone we like fail. I am still 100% adamant that we don't reach on a quarterback in the first round unless we think he's a franchise guy. And when I say that, I'm mainly referring to the likes of Trey Lance and Mac Jones (EVEN more so with Mac Jones, who I wouldn't take in even round 2). I'm okay with riding with Teddy one more season if it means not wasting a pick on them. Wouldn't be mad at Lance but I think he's a guy that benefits far more from being a QB than he does actually being a good QB. And the reason why I'm comfortable with riding for Bridgewater one more year is that this aggressiveness right now tells me Bridgewater has one more year left with us AT THE MOST. Unless he manages to pull the ultimate fools gold performance and has a great All-Pro caliber year. And let's be honest... if there is one thing we know about Bridgewater, it is that when things matter the most and he has to get it done or otherwise ultimately fail... he WILL fail. If we miss out on moving up or trading for a QB this year, then that just means this is another offseason for us to pile up on young talent and Rhule to coach the hell out of this team. And next offseason, when we can outright cut Teddy? Yeah, we gonna go get our guy. I've never been more optimistic for the Panthers franchise. I love the GM hire. I love what Matt Rhule has done this year.
  18. If it is true the Panthers were deep in the Stafford talks, then I don't see any reason to think as of now we won't be super aggressive trying to trade up for a QB.
  19. I agree with you his weapons haven't been bad (although not sure it makes up for his horrendous run game) but Stafford is way better than Cutler. LIS the best comparison, not just player-style but where they rank in the NFL, is Carson Palmer. A good quarterback who could very easily be great if the team around him is good enough. The Bengals were to Palmer like the Lions are to Stafford (and Palmer's weapons and run game were generally better than Stafford's). We'll see if Stafford can find his Cardinals. I see no reason though why Stafford can't be a playoff winning QB. Lions just were never all that good.
  20. Look, we can talk all day about leverage, but one thing has always been true in sports: when a player wants out, it always happens. When is the last time a high-profile athlete publicly demanded out and it didn’t happen? People also seem to be ignoring the idea that the Texans in all likelihood will suck again. They sucked last year despite Watson’s best season. Now they are older with no cap space and no first round pick. They will be bad. And the situation won’t get any better. Yes they have leverage but by keeping him you are absolutely wrecking your team chemistry. Watson will get traded without a doubt.
