  1. If the Panthers finish with the worst record, there is no way they are both brought back.
  2. Alex Smith only got traded because of Kaepernick. 49ers would have definitely kept him otherwise. He was playing so good in 2012 before his injury, then Kaep played so good they just kept riding with him.
  3. I think CJ Stroud would look better than Bryce Young does here (and I want to emphasize that - Stroud would look better in Carolina than Bryce does in Carolina). But I doubt he would look as good as he does in Houston. Maybe "look" isn't the right word... he wouldn't produce here at the level he is in Houston. This isn't a slight against Stroud, he's playing at an MVP level, but even the best QBs need help (look at how Mahomes' numbers have dropped off this year vs previous years, and look at his downfield numbers with Hill and after Hill). I think even the best QBs would see their numbers drop-off here. The receiving talent and scheme is just that bad, it is probably the slowest group of receivers in the NFL. You combine that with a QB who can't overcome that, you have the worst offense in the NFL (well, outside of the Giants). With Stroud, maybe we are the 20th best offense at best. Still not as good as the Houston offense is. But CJ Stroud would still look better than Bryce, that I agree with. CJ is looking like a special player.
  4. I think Reich is capable of producing good offenses with the right personnel, but the mark of a good to great head coach is being able to adapt and adjust to the talent that you do have. And it is big red flag if you either can't or are unwilling. Sean McVay is a good example of this, going from Goff/Gurley to Stafford/random RBs. Completely different skill-sets yet you see him able to get contributions from so many different guys. KOC in Minnesota too, creating more plays to take advantage of Dobbs' mobility, which he couldn't do with Cousins.
  5. I think so, yeah. It reminds me of the 49ers game from last year. I'm still 100% convinced that Tepper only fired Rhule when he did rather than EOY because of how bad it was at that game, not just the result but also the crowd (or lack thereof for the Panthers). This game will be an even worse version of that. The stadium is going to be FILLED with Cowboys fans. It will be an embarrassing look for the organization. Not only that but are going to get beatdown. Also before that 49ers game is when the heat really started to turn up on Rhule, not just among Panthers fans but in national media. Same is happening to Reich now. So the thought is already in Tepper's head. And we're talking about an owner who is willing to cut ties during the season. I could be wrong. Just what my gut thinks.
  6. Honestly, it sucks to see, yeah. He's so good and we missed out on him. But what is done is done. I'll end up ruining my enjoyment for football if I keep thinking about it. All we can do is hope the team gets better going forward. Colossal mistakes such as the one we seem to have made can be overcome (and I say this as someone who still has 100% faith in Bryce - but Stroud is looking like a special talent and I can't deny that). But it starts with lucking into a good GM and HC. So right now I just hope we can do that.
  7. Usually bad teams upset good teams because there is a match-up they can take advantage of. Panthers don't stand a chance IMO because there is nothing we can exploit. There isn't a single corner on this team that can cover Brandin Cooks, much less Lamb. Our run defense sucks and Pollard is due for a big game. And we are way too conservative on offense to capitalize on the Cowboys aggressive defense. I think it is more likely we lose by 20 points than it is we pull off the upset. Because not only are we playing a better team, but we are playing a team that we match up poorly against.
  8. That's fine. We will have the money. Sometimes you have to overpay for guys and Tee Higgins could absolutely be one of those dudes who proves to be worth "overpaying". A lot of people said the Jags overpaid for Christian Kirk but he's proven to be a good contributor and hasn't stopped them from winning. I just think we have to be aggressive in pursuing him, because he could be a #1 for a lotta teams. He just so happens to play with a top-3 WR.
  9. We have to go after Tee Higgins. The best wide receiver on the market and will only be 25 years old. And he's proven himself. Overpay him if you have to. I'm not saying Higgins is as good as these guys (but he does have that kind of upside). But look at the impact guys like Diggs, AJ Brown, and Hill have had on their QBs. Sometimes you just need that special talent at WR. It makes everyones job easier. I really feel like that is the move we HAVE to pursue the most and pray and hope he takes the money. Otherwise I don't know how you get a true #1 without either getting lucky in the draft or trading even more picks for someone in the NFL, which we shouldn't do. If we did make a trade though, Aiyuk would be my top option.
  10. The only thing I would have against EB is that he is somewhat older for a first-time HC. Not that we should hire a young HC for the sake of hiring one. But I do think it needs to be considered.
  11. We don't have the WR talent to have success running bubble screens.
  12. Reich ain't surviving the shellacking the Cowboys are going to put on us
  13. Raiders interim actually got the team to the playoffs Wilks punted on the other side of the 50 in a game he had a chance to make the playoffs They are not the same
  14. Imagine trading for a 30-year old WR when your team has 1 win.
  15. Maybe if we muster out a few wins. I can't see him being brought back if we lose out, which is likely.
  16. As much flack as Reich deserves, we also have to acknowledge there is only so much he can do schematically. When Thielen is your No. 1 WR, you are screwed. I've been saying it all season. He puts up good fantasy numbers but he's a terrible #1. The solution would be to run more of a power run game, take pressure off the WRs. But the RBs and OL are horrible. I don't even think Hubbard is good either, just better than Miles.
  17. Lol you got me, was going off his PFR which only has him throwing regular season passes in 3 seasons. But I'm not far off. 2 seasons in Carolina, waived before start of 2013 regular season. 1 season in Chicago, waived during his 4th season (2015) and picked up by Baltimore. So only 3 years where he spent the year on one team, then his 4th and final year he split between Bears and Ravens (after getting waived).
  18. With all due respect, I find this to be a little goofy if I'm right about where this is headed. I hate to be that person and I'm embarrassed about the Panthers too but its just sports... more important things in the world to march the streets about, assuming that is what they are meaning. And marching the streets to get people fired seems a little insensitive. The best way to show the Panthers our displeasure is to just stop attending games.
  19. Keep in mind the game is in Chicago, on Soldier Field. Not the easiest place to kick from 50+.
  20. Keep in mind that Evero declined the interim spot in Denver. It isn't that unlikely he would do the same here. Jim Caldwell is far more likely to take the interim spot IMO
