  1. Evero has bad players overachieving Reich has bad players playing bad
  2. Evero got this defense playing. Not much he can do given the lack of talent but they are playing well.
  3. Panthers don't have a chance in hell of winning this game. We are outclassed in every way imaginable.
  4. Why not? I'm not going to pretend like I hated the hire. But IMO the appeal of Frank Reich, for me anyway, is that he would get us back to respectability in the NFL. I felt after the stink of Matt Rhule, we really needed that leader at the HC position who could right the ship and bring the roar back to this city. Anyone who has been to a Panthers game in the last 3 years knows exactly what I'm taking about. So even if the upside to win a Super Bowl with Reich wasn't there, I thought it was a strong hire because he was a proven commodity and he could at the very least make it feel good to go to games and be a Panthers fan. But Reich was never going to be the guy who could turn around a tanking ship (and my fault for not seeing it - I thought we were closer than we were, but I will admit I was wrong). And at this point, we have already tanked. Like, we are at rock bottom. Reich ain't the guy fixing that. Keeping Reich merely for the sake of "not firing a coach after one season" is just wasting time. We're a young team and we need a young, enthusiastic mind that can reach these players and build them from the ground up. I do feel bad for Reich because the players on this team suck. But he's just not the guy who can fix this.
  5. Ehhh, every fan of a bad team gets concerned about this but IMO it really isn't that much of an issue. It is hard to turn down a HC job because they are hard to get. There's only so many open spots a year. Look at how long it took some guys to get a job. Sure, if you are a high-profile name who will be a top candidate guaranteed year in and year out? You can afford to be picky. But otherwise young coaches aren't gonna turn down a chance to be a HC. And nowadays its the young offensive minds you want to target. I know people will point at Ben Johnson, but it wasn't about him turning down this team (because he turned down all teams) so much as it was him really wanting another year of experience with a team that had a LOT of positive energy around it. It wouldn't surprise me if Reich is fired and Ben Johnson is the first guy we target given we are already familiar with him through interviews. Plus, the stuff they run in Detroit fits what Bryce would do best in an ideal world IMO.
  6. Bryce was considered the #1 QB prospect long before the S2 test came out.
  7. Not defending Tepper, but a LOT of people liked Justin Feels. Feels weird to blame him for that, if that was the case anyway. Fields was a good prospect. Sometimes good prospects don't develop the way you hoped.
  8. We suck, but I don't know about that mane. Especially with Tommy DeVito at QB. They do have Barkley and Andrew Thomas though... so on second thought you are probably right.
  9. I feel like this is accurate. Every element of the offense is bad. QB, RB, WR, TE, OL, Offensive Coaches, you name it. All is bad. The question at this point is just what is causing what and what can actually be fixed in 2024 vs what is just beyond repair.
  10. If the Panthers finish with the worst record, there is no way they are both brought back.
  11. Alex Smith only got traded because of Kaepernick. 49ers would have definitely kept him otherwise. He was playing so good in 2012 before his injury, then Kaep played so good they just kept riding with him.
  12. I think CJ Stroud would look better than Bryce Young does here (and I want to emphasize that - Stroud would look better in Carolina than Bryce does in Carolina). But I doubt he would look as good as he does in Houston. Maybe "look" isn't the right word... he wouldn't produce here at the level he is in Houston. This isn't a slight against Stroud, he's playing at an MVP level, but even the best QBs need help (look at how Mahomes' numbers have dropped off this year vs previous years, and look at his downfield numbers with Hill and after Hill). I think even the best QBs would see their numbers drop-off here. The receiving talent and scheme is just that bad, it is probably the slowest group of receivers in the NFL. You combine that with a QB who can't overcome that, you have the worst offense in the NFL (well, outside of the Giants). With Stroud, maybe we are the 20th best offense at best. Still not as good as the Houston offense is. But CJ Stroud would still look better than Bryce, that I agree with. CJ is looking like a special player.
  13. I think Reich is capable of producing good offenses with the right personnel, but the mark of a good to great head coach is being able to adapt and adjust to the talent that you do have. And it is big red flag if you either can't or are unwilling. Sean McVay is a good example of this, going from Goff/Gurley to Stafford/random RBs. Completely different skill-sets yet you see him able to get contributions from so many different guys. KOC in Minnesota too, creating more plays to take advantage of Dobbs' mobility, which he couldn't do with Cousins.
  14. I think so, yeah. It reminds me of the 49ers game from last year. I'm still 100% convinced that Tepper only fired Rhule when he did rather than EOY because of how bad it was at that game, not just the result but also the crowd (or lack thereof for the Panthers). This game will be an even worse version of that. The stadium is going to be FILLED with Cowboys fans. It will be an embarrassing look for the organization. Not only that but are going to get beatdown. Also before that 49ers game is when the heat really started to turn up on Rhule, not just among Panthers fans but in national media. Same is happening to Reich now. So the thought is already in Tepper's head. And we're talking about an owner who is willing to cut ties during the season. I could be wrong. Just what my gut thinks.
  15. Honestly, it sucks to see, yeah. He's so good and we missed out on him. But what is done is done. I'll end up ruining my enjoyment for football if I keep thinking about it. All we can do is hope the team gets better going forward. Colossal mistakes such as the one we seem to have made can be overcome (and I say this as someone who still has 100% faith in Bryce - but Stroud is looking like a special talent and I can't deny that). But it starts with lucking into a good GM and HC. So right now I just hope we can do that.
  16. Usually bad teams upset good teams because there is a match-up they can take advantage of. Panthers don't stand a chance IMO because there is nothing we can exploit. There isn't a single corner on this team that can cover Brandin Cooks, much less Lamb. Our run defense sucks and Pollard is due for a big game. And we are way too conservative on offense to capitalize on the Cowboys aggressive defense. I think it is more likely we lose by 20 points than it is we pull off the upset. Because not only are we playing a better team, but we are playing a team that we match up poorly against.
