Not at all, I think every fan base could say the same thing, it's all part of the equation. That's why there isn't a consensus on who should be the #1 pick, because Stroud is not really a lesser talent, just different and I'd rank Young only marginally ahead as a pure QB prospect. I also think the areas that Young is a better prospect, in terms of seeing the game, can be taught to Stroud, particularly since it's not like he's terrible at it, he's just not quite as good as Young there. But you can't do anything about Young's size at all, sure you can get him in the gym and on a diet plan that will hopefully put a little bulk onto him, but he has a small frame, he can only get so big to help insulate him to injuries. If there was a sizable gap between them as prospects, like if it was Young vs Levis, then no, the size factor doesn't play into it the same way and you take Young, easy call. But I think they're very close as prospects, and when they're that close, you factor in Young's size given how small he really is.

Just re-watched it again and I realized how much this little stupid clip makes me want to draft Stroud even more now, and he already was my guy. They clearly had been talking about playing some horse and betting on it at some point. When McCown says to him we'll find a place to play, Stroud immediately said "right here, c'mon" and wanted to go play him right then and there. The guy just finished up his Pro Day while gunning to be the #1 pick, the most job important interview of his life just ended and the team with said #1 pick is clearly heading out of town right now. He can relax for a minute, he can go do something fun, hang out with friends, do what most people would do after just getting thru the most important job interview of your life that you spent weeks preparing for. Instead he wants to go challenge his potential future coach to a game of horse for money, right then and there after finishing his workout. LOVE that competitive spirit from the kid, that's awesome, just from that clip alone I know he's someone who just wants to win at everything and all the time.

I think Young is a better QB prospect in a vacuum due to his next level mental side of things. But I think his size is such a significant factor that Stroud is the better pick to make, particularly after everything we gave up to get him. If we were the worst team in the league last year and #1 was already our pick, I'd be more acceptable of the Young risk, but I'd still take Stroud in that scenario too. I don't think there is a big gap between them as pure QB prospects as they each have various things they do better than the other and are both really good prospects. I'm also not really bothered by Young's height much at all, I don't love it, but if he had a little more stockier build like the other successful short QB's have had, I'd be much more interested in him. I just can't see someone of his build lasting for very long in this league. I know the game is constantly evolving to protect the QB, but defensive players are only getting bigger, stronger, faster, and it might not take many legal hits on his frame to break him down. Having said all that, if we take Young, I won't be as happy as I would with Stroud, but I'm not going to be super upset about it, just hope he gets thicker and can avoid injury. But if we take Richardson after everything we gave up to move up to #1, I'll lose it

I’ve said from the start that I want Stroud and only way I’m swapping with Houston is if we know they’re taking Young. But even if we know for sure, they have to pay thru the nose to make sure they get their guy, I want #2, #12, and 2024 1st, might settle for their 2nd this year instead of #12 though. Anything short of that and we just take our guy, as you also don’t want that guy you draft to be upset that you passed on him at #1 and risked losing them, but if you get all those picks and can convince him you knew they were taking the other guy, then it looks better than risking it for one extra pick.

Not even in the slightest. I'd bet he's at the Pro Day for all 4 QB's The guy spent a couple billion dollars to buy an NFL team, we've sucked since then, and now he has the #1 overall pick. He's a kid in a candy shop right now, unless he has a massive scheduling conflict, I'd be shocked if he didn't attend all 4 of them.

Did he actually say "live"? Was a little muffled but thought he could have said "when you're in" as in, when you're in town for the visit.

Article on ESPN right now for the best fits of the remaining top FA's and they added two best fits for trade targets at the end of it. They had us as the best fit in a deal for Hopkins Please, please, please, PLEASE let that happen Hopkins and Thielen would be an absolute PERFECT pairing of vet WRs to give to a rookie QB to help jumpstart his career. Hopkins has maybe the best hands in the league and Thielen is the ultimate pro's pro who is perfect for that check down safety valve when we can't get the ball downfield. Play Thielen in the slot with TMJ on the outside with Hopkins, it will really open things up for TMJ as well and we can see what he might be able to become.

UGH Elijah Moore and a 3rd just traded to the Browns for a 2nd Was really hoping we'd get him, but also wouldn't have been on board with swapping our 2nd for a 3rd to get it done, I'd have rather just given them a 3rd

meh... Still don't think he's enough of an upgrade over TMJ, I'd rather see what TMJ can be with this new staff and QB and try and trade for a true #1 and/or draft someone with our 2nd.

I guess that would make sense as well, but I just saw the Hardman news and was going to come here saying that we have to go after Moore now, he's expendable for them and we could very much use him.

If true, I'm shocked we didn't send them Brown. Nothing against him, particularly as he looked great last year. But we made the trade to draft a QB at #1, having him a reliable #1 like DJ seems like a more important position to still have filled than a DT/DE.

The other way of looking at it is that catching passes from Stroud made them five first round WRs. This isn't college anymore, he's not throwing to recruits, he's throwing to pros. I don't think this is a legitimate knock on Stroud

yes this is a joke, but would be a helluva lot of fun Trade for Rodgers for 2025 First Trade #1 to the Colts for #4, Pittman, and their 2024 First. Trade #4 and Pittman to the Raiders for #7 and Adams. Draft best DE available at #7 Trade 2nd Rounder to Arizona for Hopkins Rodgers, Adams, Hopkins, Sanders, and our OL would be one of the best offenses the league has ever seen. Win SB, Rodgers Retires Colts are terrible next year and we draft Caleb Williams at #1 overall and he comes into the league with Adams and Hopkins as his WRs. Dominate for the next 15 years.

I can see a very real scenario that we win a weak division with a rookie QB going 9-8 and then follow that up with a 10 or 11 win season that even with a first round exit, I don't think they'd get fired over that. After how bad we've been under Tepper, two playoffs with improvement in each year, they'd be solidified even with a down year after that I think. Would need to bounce back after that for sure, but if we improve both of these first two years, especially with a young QB, then I think it buys then another 2 to see what they can do.

If we're still picking in the Top 10 in 2 more years, we could be looking to draft someone new again, but depending how the college game shakes out in that time, I think they play it out for one more year. That next draft class could have Arch Manning, and let's be honest, if he pans out as expected, I'd LOVE to get a Manning at QB, hard to argue with that bloodline right now. Also, I don't think we have to have made an NFCC game in the next 2 years, playoffs, sure, but not that much in 2 years, that would be an incredible turnaround.

No I love Cam, was thrilled when we brought him back and will always support him. But he was never the best at reading defenses and his style of game was the exact opposite of fundamentals, how's he going to teach any QB that isn't a replica of himself?

This makes literally zero sense. If they were willing to give up next years first to a team they knew would be taking a non-QB if they kept the pick, just to keep someone else from jumping them, now that someone did jump them for a QB, they would be willing to give up the same, if not more, to then jump that team. I'm still not on board with it unless we're 100% sure they aren't taking the player we would take if we stay at #1, and even then, I still want #2, 2024 first, and then either #12 or their 2nd rounder this year as well. If they want to pick their QB before we do, even if we know it's not who we're gonna take, they have to pay through the nose to get that right, period.

I like Thielen as he'd be a good slot safety valve for a rookie and would be a great vet presence in the WR room to teach these guys how to be pros, particularly TMJ and whichever WR we draft in the 2nd. But I just don't see the need for Chark, he's similar to TMJ and very injury prone, just not someone I'd like to see us target as I don't think he brings enough value to us right now.

Nobody said anything about a hometown discount, we can still pay him market value, particularly with how much cap we have available next year, an extension can be signed that lessens his cap hit this year while structuring the contract to use that cap room next year to eat a bulk of it then. And seeing as he's from SC, played college ball at Clemson, and his cousin who also played with him both in High School and in college just signed with us, it's not at all far fetched that if he can't get a trade to an immediate title contender like KC or Buffalo, then I'd think we'd be as attractive to him as any other team out there. He's already come out and said he's not going to ask for top WR money in any extension from a team that signs him, he just wants out of that mess in Arizona at this point.

I disagree, I think we should be a very attractive team for Hopkins for a variety of reasons. First being that he's from SC and played at Clemson, so it would basically be a homecoming for him. Then, with a rookie QB, he'd likely see a TON of targets, particularly given the rest of our WR room at the moment. Cam's rookie year was one of the best seasons Smitty had in his career, for that same reason. If he were to go to a contending team with an established QB and better WRs, the ball would be spread around much more and he'd see a fraction of the targets he'd get here this year. Also, while I'm guessing Hopkins wants to play for a contender and we're not really that yet, we get a hell of a lot closer if we were to get a #1 WR such as himself. He knows that the most likely path to contending these days is with a rookie QB contract, our window for contending would really be open from 2024-2026, so why not get on the team a year before that, put up huge stats for that first year and then be the #1 WR on a contending team while essentially playing back at home.

Not really, neither Chark or Thielen are #1 WRs, I still think Chark is still pretty similar to TMJ and would just be a redundancy and take away time from TMJ who still has potential.

Oh I'm not doubting his talent, I'm just saying I think there were multiple incidents last year that made him out to be a hothead and a bit of a diva. Which I get, it's something that comes with the WR a lot of the time, but that's not really what you want with a rookie QB either, same reason people don't want Odell. I'd rather go after Sutton or Hopkins who don't seem to have those same question marks about them, if we had an established QB already I wouldn't be as concerned about Jeudy. But if the Broncos are willing to trade away a recent first round pick already while still on his rookie deal, that also in itself probably isn't a great sign, it means they want him out of that locker room most likely.
