I think this is the correct reading of this move. -

Baker Could Be our “Brees”
AlphabetsEnd replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wouldn’t be the first …or even second time for Mayfield! -
A QB room with Cam and Baker would be hilarious though.

Did the kicker just go down?

I can get behind that.

is this the 1st, 2nd or 3rd team Bill's defense? They are crushing the run.

I saw my first Bojangles ad live! (In CA here.)

I, generally, feel pretty poor about capitalism, but not the message board for that.

Is Tepper a "legitimate businessman?" If you get my meaning, or double-meaning.

This has been driving me crazy all preseason. NFL+ minus.

I never would. But I sure blame him for not making the rain stop.

Panthers make two surprising roster moves
AlphabetsEnd replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I realize it's a typo, but "Injured Deserve" seems a suitable designation for a few players around the league. -
This is same guy who regularly gets caught choking players in-game (and practice).

I think the competition was probably necessary -- but not the way it was executed. It could have been resolved much faster, with a much quicker cessation of the splitting of reps. The players were clearly feeling Mayfield quickly, and there could have been a week or two cut off the "competition" to give Mayfield full 1's reps.

OBJs splits with Mayfield and Stafford are virtually identical, save for redzone TDs, which in Cleveland went to Chubb/Hunt and the TEs. In fact, except for the TDs, OBJ had slightly better stats with Mayfield... in 21. OBJ is a WR 2, at best. DJ is a legitimate WR 1. Landry was a good slot receiver, though he was injured in 21, just like OBJ. As I said, the WR room was very bad in 2021. Donald Peoples-Jones was the best receiver, and Stefasnki wouldn't put Higgins in games much. The real teller is Mayfield's split with and without OBJ. Obj dragged Mayfield down. Landry before he was hurt this last round was still a good weapon, but like in #70s of WR in the league (I can't recall the exact).

Carolina's WR room is far and away better than anything Mayfield ever played with. All of the QBs you listed above, save for maybe Carr, had significantly better WR groups and true WR#1s, which has certainly helped these QBs. Looking at Burrow pre and post the addition of Chase is pretty compelling for what an elite WR will do for a WR. Few QBs can elevate an entire team if it's not a solid "team."

You forgot Josh Allen!

This is so patently false I am going to stop engaging with you. The Browns were a middling team who couldn't carry an injured quarterback, not the other way around.

I think you have swapped the definitions of "facts" and "opinions" as you are constantly expressing opinions, baseless and fact-less, while I offered you historical win totals, rankings (i.e. facts). As for the money, that is valid, however, the cap is fluid and teams find a way to sign QBs, especially. As for your guarantees and mediocrity, that's another 'opinion' of yours... just let it rest, like your take on Mayfield. We've all heard it enough, in every thread.

The Browns never had a complete roster around Mayfield - just one of the most overhyped. Defense was poor to middling until the second half of 2021, after Mayfield's injuries mounted. WR room was amongst the worst in the league. TEs were meh. Chubb is amazing, and Hunt, when not-injured was good, but he was injured all last year. The vaunted OL was ravaged last year - tackle play was terrible. Browns rosters in 2018, 19 were poor. 2020 had solid offense, but poor defense. 2021 was a comedy of errors from Mayfield and Stefanski on down.

Incorrect. Mayfield was ranked as high as the #8 QB in 2020 through the injury in 2021. During one stretch he was ranked as high as #3 by PFF. He's top 15 at least. We'll see what he does this year, but Darnold was the 32nd ranked QB, and Mayfield outplayed him in 2021 with 6 injuries and amongst the worst WR rooms in the NFL, with fourth string tackles. Incorrect. Mayfield got 11 wins in a very tough AFC north with a Covid ravaged coaching staff and team in 2020. He added 7 wins his rookie season to a winless Browns organization. This is false. All reporting on Mayfield's progress has Mayfield had not thrown an interception during the entire shared practices with the Patriots. You just gotta quit. We get it you don't like Mayfield. Repeating falsehoods doesn't make them true.

Is he the highest paid backup in the league now? He's gotta be, right?
