Mike Kaye on possible trade back into 1st round
Lurk21 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think if 1 of the 1st round tight ends is sitting in range, that'd be almost just as enticing. History always shows a stud tight end (remember when Cam had Olsen and Shockey)is a young qbs best friend. Regardless... there will be a run on a certain position and a talented Rush lb, WR/TE or corner will be within range. I think a trade is highly likely. I also think players will be involved. Matos and others could be added. -
Gonna be a Bonifide star but I wonder also if 1 of the tight ends like Mayer or Kincaid get close.... Definitely going to have to continue to bolster the offense. There are still a few choices in free agency for pass rush... not much else for offense that really stands out free agent wise.
-
I think the timing is perfect for TMJ!! With getting a new staff, the playbook levels the playing field as it connects to learning with a group. When you mix in the fact we are bringing in a new QB and they are going to want to simplify the offense for all parties involved and ease into Training Camp... PERFECT STORM!

Mentioned this possibility last week and was told the pick has been made already! No doubt that Bryce is probably the fave but Fitt is always open for business.
-
I've been saying that possibility for awhile. Irsay has an ego and impatience. He knows some teams are trying to trade to 3 for Levis... and the only way to get their guy is to get to 1....
-
Not saying it's going to happen but i said that Indy is the wildcard to it all because Houston is right below us. It would allow Carolina to get draft compensation and a Qb. All it takes is 1 phone call from Indy and Houston hear of it and we have some movement. Gms always get antsy on draft week and the hype drives egos. We will see but I could definitely see Indy n Houston battling it out to get to 1.... I was told no way by some but anything is possible

You just made me think of all the times Cam took a hit and didn't pop back up! Then over time he'd get up but have that grimace on his face.

Could a trade be on the horizon...(Vegas shift at number 2)
Lurk21 replied to Lurk21's topic in Carolina Panthers
Trust me, I have no choice but it is a bunch of stuff going on between them 2 teams and then supposedly at 3 the Cardinals are getting a ton of calls. Indy could very well be getting nervous if they are really on Levis. -

I have just noticed that it seems the Texans n Colts beat writers have started to talk up Levis a whole bunch. With them both being in the same division, I could definitely see them trying to get their guy. Houston could be putting out they like Levis just to get Indy to call us, so Young could drop to 2... who knows but I know Fitt likes to try and look at all value. If Indy gives up some good capital, we'd have to listen. -

I understand that but I just know we have a GM that is very open for business around the clock. You have a valid point tho but this is always the worse time of year trying to read GMs. -

It's hard not to mention it, when it's a glaring concern. I have watched his highlights and got crunk as hell thinking about him as our pick and I've watched his lowlights and scratched my head. It is what it is tho and we will see!! -

And I'd be totally for it if they feel that and proceed forward. I'm not going to sit and scream that we picked him but I could make an argument that the other Qbs could do something that Bryce couldn't. Regardless, if we pick him, I'm going to root him on but I know anything is possible until we officially confirm it. -

Lurk21 replied to Lurk21's topic in Carolina Panthers
That could've been to you but what's the point in our front office not confirming it yet... Is it that we have a GM that always wants to have options. We traded Cmac... I have seen with Fitt that he always keeps his options open. Gms get antsy the closer the draft get. Gms also play chicken as long as they can... -

Man you don't have to click the link or like anything... We all entitled to our opinions bro. I will accept him and cheer him on but to act like I can't have concerns is ridiculous!! Also, you have never seen a trade on draft night.... or day before... cmon man.... anything is possible! Rather it's Bryce or the other 3, I'm going to root for him but he is not my preferred 1st choice... deal with it! -

The very thing I'm scared of!! Scheming to his weaknesses and becoming 1 dimensional!! The number 1 pick I the draft has to be a lil more than intelligent. It's why so many Qbs like him go later in the Draft because the risk factor matches. No GMs/coaches have to look over their shoulder as much. He has skill and I'm not denying that, just hate the thought of the offense being stuck at some point. -

I always keep my mind open to all opinions but I think I'd like the extra picks and 1 of the 2 Qbs I think are just as good. I'm not too high on Levis but I wouldn't mind either of Stroud or AR in the trade back. I think as we get closer to Thursday, more possibility of trade talks will heat up. All that's needed is 1 of Indy or Houston to get antsy with the anticipation and both have owners with those issues. -
Vegas has now shifted Levis to be selected number 2 in the Draft. There have been numerous signs pointing at The Colts loving him and recently Houston beat writers have mentioned him too. This could pit them both against each other and we could possibly drop to 2 or 4 and still net one of AR or Stroud. This would be the perfect time to be on the phones with the Colts. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/04/22/will-levis-is-now-the-betting-favorite-to-go-no-2-overall/

Exactly! I'm one that doesn't hate Bryce at all but we did invest a bunch to move up to 1. That alone makes you want to be sure your investment odds last as long as they can. I think some are blinded by highlight plays and don't even care. I'm going to root for him if he is the pick but you are right, as long as he plays that thought will hang over him. An analyst just mentioned how Russell career went off the deep end(people forget the last couple years in Seattle too) and how it is a huge outlier. What happens when you have injury concerns on the oline, a couple wrs go down... will we get schemed easier due to his size. It's all things that have to be considered no matter where he was picked but definitely as THE NUMBER 1 PICK.
-
I concur!! I think he could be good but nobody can truthfully say that his flaws aren't something that need to be looked at. We traded all the way to 1, so we already have to minimize the fail factor and think long-term. I just got worried that they apparently talked to him at the combine and then the interviews and that was what sold them. That's the same thing that got Rhule hired and a bunch of us(myself included) hype! Terry Bradshaw could barely talk but was a good qb. I'm going to root for whoever but I'd hate for us to have to compromise (reduce playbook now and the future)so much for a prospect at the number 1 pick. If that braintrust of offensive minds are all in, I'll trust them but it's their jobs on the line and not ours! As always... Keep Pounding!
-
Bro, I am really here scratching my head now because I'd hate for us to trade up to 1... and this dude turns into Johnny Manziel bc of limitations. I had watched highlights of Bryce and saw the magic but I hope it translates bc he sure did seem to hold the ball a bunch.
-
I'm going to support whoever and I have warmed up to Bryce but watching this video really has me kind of questioning him. When they ask what trait is elite and will that elite be different vs elite level players. I'm a lil worried but hopefully we continue to build around him if he is the pick!

Yes, you have some very valid points!! I think it'll be Young too but Fitt is definitely playing this close to the vest!!! -
Anthony Richardson Film Breakdown Megathread

I just seen a tweet earlier from Mike Kaye that has me confused. He mentioned how Frank will be using the RPO offense and to make of that, what you will. I had accepted that Young is the gut but he doesn't fit the RPO. Then you look at the whole Richardson in a trade down to 2 scenario. I'm wondering if they are really thinking of AR all alone and trying to ride it out until it's definite not trade can be made. Ready for this to be over!!
