In the end it was enough but they tackled quite poorly and allowed plays to get more than they could have after first contact. They could have been much better simply by tackling better and not getting penalties in big situations.

Gettlemans job isnt to impress a guy on a message board its to make a successful franchise. I wouldnt worry about what CRA thinks of his decisions. Look at the results or lack of in a year or two and they will stand on their own.

If all you had to do to play good offense is attempt big crazy plays then every team would do it. Our offense has struggled in pre-season and was playing one of the best defenses in the league last year. It's no real shocker that they didn't look explosive or that the answer is that they should have just tried to be explosive. That's just silly.

I watched the game from a sports bar in Montana. Most everyone there was impressed with the way the Panthers played and I regularly overheard people saying that they would be a surprise team this year. The general perception was "look what they are doing to the Seahawks.....look how they are standing up to them" It was really odd to hear so much positive about them when I am used to this place. I never started these conversations or even took part...I was just overhearing them.

It doesn't appear to me that a lot of people really pay attention when watching these games.

That comment was made the day after and regarding the first pre-season game. People were getting a little excited but looking at the box score the game was 7-7 with the starters.

I've seen talks of playoffs and the Super Bowl. I'm out of the country and did not watch but it sounds like things went pretty well. From the box score it looks like the starters played to a tie roughly.
