  1. Cam, even now, is a better QB than Sam, but I have trouble seeing them make this move. I hate the way things played out with Cam. I just hate it.
  2. It is very clear that Rhule is in deeper water with the fanbase than he is with Tepper . I don't think its because Rhule is taking his time. Part of it, is he tried to rush the rebuild. Rhule didn't want to be patient and draft and develop a QB. He didn't want to wait until Teddy's contract ran out. So he created a ton of dead cap, spent 3 draft picks, and brought in, statistically, the worst QB from one of the worst teams, thinking he and his staff could coach him up. Then when Sam got hurt, he still thought he could make the playoffs so he brought Cam into horrible situation. He fired Brady midseason hoping that a change in direction on O could spark something. Instead the O got worse. He neglected the OL, so he could trade down and play BPA in the draft. These were all shortcuts trying to jump the line and rebuild faster. It is these very moves that have pissed off the fanbase. Rhule has never acted like he has 5 years. He acted desperate in year 2. Now Rhule has shifted gears and has drafted a QB and the best LT in the draft, building the way many of us wanted last year. They have shown the OL some love in FA and he has brought in, on paper, a pretty experienced NFL coaching staff who has shown success in their positions. As for the DBO, I hate it. It does feel HS/college, except Belichek and Flores do a version of it. He's trying to imitate NFL coaches here. https://www.espn.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/35194/dont-beat-ourselves-rhule-using-penalty-runs-to-keep-sam-darnold-panthers-accountable
  3. So you've been railing against Tepper and Rhule from day one?
  4. You're not arguing with me. Now you're just arguing with the beat reporter who you "generally think they have it nailed big picture ".
  5. Newton making friends: One of the reasons you go to the third round were alcohol-related issues and other issues can you comment on what what those things were ? Truthfully I don't know where that came from. I mean it was just one of those things that just got out there. That was that was honestly the first time I heard that and um as far as that, that's something I cant control when I got picked up. I’m here with the with with an opportunity and that's all one can ask for. why do you think you fell? Man I truthfully I don't that's that's that's none of my business and I’m gonna be the player and play.
  6. Cool. Then you should agree with your source when the article says: Tepper seems to be very direct and straightforward.
  7. More wisdom from your link: Firing Brady wiped out perhaps the most viable in-house option to serve as the interim head coach. OMG that's funny. Your source is awesome.
  8. Nowhere in that report does it say he kept Matt Rhule to avoid embarrassment. That's your tin hat obscuring your vision. From YOUR link: Terms like “unhappy” and “embarrassed” don’t exactly amount to a guarantee that Rhule will be retained for a third season. Another adjective applies to Tepper — brilliant.
  9. Ok so now Tepper kept Rhule to avoid embarrassment.
  10. Yeah, that's why he kept him despite the pressure to fire.
  11. I think Tepper looks at the first Saint's game in 2021 a as vision of what last season could have been... before CMC, Horn and the OL went down. That historic drubbing was the worst offensive performance by the Saints in the Payton era. Tepper questions whether the Saints injuries, covid and home field advantage were the most important factors there. If he's right, we're going to surprise a lot of people and beat some teams we shouldn't. If he's wrong, its going to be a long season.
  12. You're right, and still he had 3 winning seasons out of 9. He has yet to have a winning season with the commies. If Rhule has 3 winning seasons out of 9, are you going to call him "very solid"?
  13. I agree, that its bit early to make a final judgement on Rhule. Many huddlers have made up their mind. IF he had been fired though, the only assessment we could make would be, he sucked. Ron went 12-4 and 1st in the NFCS his third season. Looking at where we are and our schedule, that is a tall order, with Sam Darnold and a 3rd round rookie at QB. Right now we're favored to win 3 games, and the line is at 5. Rhule has a deep hole to dig himself out of.
  14. That's my assessment. I think RR had an awesome QB and great LB core. He definitely had more to work with than Rhule has. With the talent we had on the field, an argument could be made that we under performed some of those years under RR.
  15. Ron Riveria has had 3 winning season in 11 years as head coach. Fox had 3 winning seasons with Panthers out of 9. Unlike Ron, he did have 3 out of 4 winning seasons in Denver, but he was a disaster in Chicago with out a single winning season. Both of them won 52% of their games, neither has won a Superbowl. What you call solid, I call mediocre, but fair enough. Rhule has had 2 losing seasons so its safe to put him in the sucks category. The question becomes, if Rhule has 3 winning seasons out of 11 here, are you going to call him solid?
  16. That can be true, but I don't think its absolute. RR didn't all of sudden become a great coach in 2015 then return to mediocrity in 2016. In 2015 the OL stayed healthy, the stingy D stole the ball and Cam played out of his mind. The exact opposite happened last year. It is becoming clearer that McDermott had a lot to do with 2015. RR gets credit for bringing those pieces together, including McDermott, but once the season is rolling, there are a lot of key factors and I just don't think that RR's in season coaching made 2015.
  17. Its true, tank talk has gone down. It has now morphed into hope for losses early on the schedule, with the dream that Rhule gets fired mid-season. This thread is exhibit A. Its obsessive really.
  18. A franchise LT is a bandaid? 3 new highly rated OLmen are bandaids? I know OL isn't flashy, but some of us here believe in the importance a strong OL. We have been screaming for franchise LT for a decade, when we finally get one you call it a bandaid? This is what I'm talking about.
  19. Awwww. You're mad because you know I'm right.
  20. This. It was Rhules fault for hiring Brady and co. At the same time, he gets the blame/credit for this years coaching crew as well.
  21. Bold prediction: The Huddle will bitch incessantly as long as Rhule is here....even when we win...giving credit for the wins elsewhere.
  22. On Sam Darnold's play last year: Well, the first three games that they played really well even into the Dallas....I think injuries losing McCaffrey did play a factor in it. But really it was the inconsistency of the offensive line. There's too much leakage up there....You know, when Sam, when he has time, he delivers the ball, it looked good, but when he didn't have time even when Cam Newton was here. And he didn't have time. It's hard to play that position and it's not solely on the quarterback. It's on us. David Tepper seemed to be very involved with the team and look, it's the prerogative of the owner. How involved is he in day-to-day big picture? He's there as sounding board for us, you know, he'll help us, guide the process. He will ask the tough questions. He asked us if we would if we look at it from this standpoint and he never really comes in and says, hey we're doing this. He's never done that since I've been here, but he does help guide tough conversation.
