  1. Darnold performed better with the JETS.
  2. Whoever was on the schedule. Players for Baylor and Temple made it into the NFL. These were players that the big teams didn't want. Say what you want, but he developed lesser players into NFL talent. He didn't have the LSU recruiting staff or reputation. You implied that Rhule relied on recruiting talent. I call bullshit.
  3. Yeah Baylor and Temple were recruiting powerhouses.
  4. Production is what matters. Joe Brady has never been a good OC for any team anywhere at any level. He was lucky to have a HOF QB and basket of HOF wrs with a pro ready offensive line in college. Anyone ignoring what those players went on to do in the NFL and still attributing any of that to the passing game coordinator is fooling himself. Joe Brady is a snake-oil salesman. I am not going to miss other team's QB's discussing how we run the same routes over and over so they can sit on the routes for ints. I am not going to miss a sub-par run game performance, even when CMC is in. I'm not going to miss lack of adjustments mid game. I will never understand the absolute Joe Brady love here. Sam performed worse for him than he did at the Jets. Some genius. Go ahead, post the excuses.
  5. Very fair. Some of those ifs are bigger than others. Even if CMC stays hurt, Foreman >>>>>Chuba. The running game will be better. Moore produces every year. Anderson produces w/ good a QB. Mayfield has a much much better deep ball than Teddy or Sam. Don't forget Higgins who had 600 yards with Baker in 2020 in a crowded wr room. Even if the line doesn't "come together", the odds that it will be anywhere near as bad as last year is unlikely. TE is a big IF. We are not bottom of the league in stopping the run. We are 18th in total rushing yards allowed and 8th in rushing yards allowed per attempt. I know watching the games they kept getting 1st downs by running, but even there we are 18th in that category. Had we kept Perryman we'd been better. Littleton and Wilson will help here. Brown needs a good year this year. On Horn, I was worried at the end of last season but all early indications is that Horn is back to form. Baker is returning to form. Count on it. 3rd quarter slump was actually a continuation of the 2nd qrt slump and was pronounced on O side. Joe Brady and Sam have been replaced. I'll post on Lady Panthers thread the details. As I think about your post, if those are the ifs, I actually really start looking forward to this year.
  6. Sam didn't hold the rookie touchdown record while playing only 14 games and become runner up for rookie of the year. Sam didn't defeat a division rival in the playoffs that had dominated his team for decades. Sam's deep ball accuracy is shlt while Baker's is top 10. Sam looks nervous and scared in the pocket while Baker looks cocky as shlt. Baker has over 60 TD passes and 3 ints in the redzone. Maybe Baker is just luckier than Sam, but we could use a bit a luck as well. A reasonable case cannot be made that Sam is on par with Baker. He's just not. I can't believe there's so much Sam love here after last year.
  7. And we beat the Cards, and took the Vikings to OT last year. This year we'll have CMC, Horn, Icky, Corbett, Bozeman, a healthy Marshal, Hekker, Roberts and Mayfield. On the coaching side Mcadoo, Wilks, Tabor, and Campen, all superior to last years counterparts.
  8. 7 Winnable Games: Browns (wo Watson),2x Atlanta, Seattle, Giants, Steelers, Lions Potential Upsets: 2xSaints, Cards, Broncos, Ravens, 9ers (essentially rookie QB) Major Upsets: 2xBucs, Rams, Bengals (superbowl hangover?) If you look at the NFC, the best guess for playoffs are Bucs, Rams, Cowboys and Packers as division champs, and the Eagles, 9ers and Saints are the best guess wildcard teams. If we win the winnable games, beat the Saints once and Trey Lance stinks it up, we could sneak in a wild card spot. It is NOT impossible. Just seems very improbable from this vantage.
  9. And you think the Baker Mayfield wasted the year?
  10. If you have the time 4mr did an excellent analysis on the Mayfield trade.
  11. Sam discounted himself when he got bench for PJ in the Giants game. His audition was last year. Unless Bakers play has been hurt by his injury, he's the guy.
  12. You do realize this post is simply not going to age well.
  13. You're right. It is a tough sell. So let me try. YGM learned and grew a lot this year behind Hassan. Hassan had about 2.44 times the number of snaps that YGM had. If you extrapolate YGM's production you get 9 sacks, 2 PD, 2FF, 68 tackles 12 TFL , 10QB hits and 17 pressures for YGM extrapolated. 11 sacks, 0 PD, 2FF, 68 tackles, 12 TFL, 18QB hits and 33 pressures for Reddick. Now I'm not saying its going to be linear or that YGM is going to stay injury free and YGM is obviously not going to be as good as Reddick. What I'm saying is that YGM can generate some very good production. I'm not a huge fan of PFF, but the grades for Hassan, Burns and YGM were: 67.9, 60.8 and 63.8. Its not unreasonable to expect YGM's production to increase substantially with his snaps.
  14. McAdoo did interview Corral and help make the board. But when we were drafting, where the rubber hits the road and you actually have to play the board to get the QB, he wasn't there. QAnon is a conspiracy theory in existence so get that right before you correct a correction. Rhule is a losing coach. But he oversaw the good FA, draft and coach hires as well as the bad ones. He collaborated on drafting Corral and bringing in Baker and Sam.
  15. Some people think you have to absolutely suck to get better. 5 wins were too many. We need that top 3 draft pick to get the QB of the future. It worked out great for the Browns and Jets with Mayfield and Darnold. Its madness. Giving up hope before we've played a snap.
  16. Its Baker and it isn't even close. He's just a more accurate passer and we know Darnold ain't it.
  17. I actually believe that the Panthers, who had one of the league’s best defenses in the league in 2021 (in terms of yards allowed) as well as an underrated receiving corps and a rebuilt offensive line, could find themselves in the playoffs this season with a healthy Mayfield at the helm.
  18. Or if we just kept Teddy last year and cut this deal this year. Sam was a very big mistake. We lucked out in the draft that the QB's fell and we were still able to get our franchise LT at 6 and a QB. We also lucked out that we could get a decent QB so cheap.
  19. First of all, if you are referring to the draft room, he wasn't. Second, to think that McAdoo had heavy input on the QB in the draft but no input on the QB in FA fits with the Qanon Huddle theory of all things bad come from Rhule and all things good come from everywhere else. Its Rhule Derangement Syndrome.
  20. The same applies to Corral. He was 94th in the draft. He was the 4th QB taken in a draft class where many people, including huddlers said, was a weak QB class. He was selected by the same "idiot" brain trust.
  21. We weren't getting Baker before last season for a 6th and future 2nd and 4th after he had just beat Pittsburg on the road in the playoffs for the first playoff win in a generation. The only reason Baker is gone is because they landed a top 5 young QB in Watson.
  22. His OC's were Todd Haley, Kitchens, Todd Monken, and Alex Van Pelt. 4OC's in 4 years. His HCs were Jackson, Kitchens and Stefanski. The "shlt on everything" crowd loves to talk about how important coaching is and then ignores it when it doesn't suit their narrative. I didn't want this trade and railed against it. But he's our QB now. He has an excellent deep ball and some grit. Combine his deep ball accuracy with Macadoo's west coast O, DJ, Robbie, a healthy Marshall, and our new line...it just seems likely the O will improve, possibly substantially. There's just hateful people out that that have to shlt on everything.
