  1. I don't think teammates should decide if he's a great player. His play does. Unlike Sam, PFF ranked Baker 9th, 10th, 13th and 30th QB in 2018,2019,2020 and 2021 respectively. Even his critics say that last year was due to injuries. He was rookie of the year runner up, held the rookie record for TD's and has won a playoff game against a rival on the road. When healthy, he's a pretty good player.
  2. He was right about Darnold. I think anyone who spends so much time in the shlthole Tinderbox loses it a bit. When you constantly read the nasty negative interactions in there, it can mess a person up.
  3. CJ has been horrible for us and Jax. I'm not optimistic there.
  4. Yes Mayfield is a diva. And he may think he's better than he is. But they all do. Sam thinks he's a starting QB in the league. Browns players in the video: Baker was a great teammate too. It shows up again and again in a bunch of articles. I was against Baker and it frustrated me when I would search for articles to support the locker room crap and many of them said it was overblown. Odell wasn't getting the targets he wanted in a Stefanski's run-first offense with many wide receiver mouths to feed and just like Diggs with Stefanski in MN, Odell wanted out. I'm not worried about Baker "dividing the locker room". As for the other stuff, like disrespecting coaches and sideline/off field statements and behavior that dates back to Oklahoma... maybe this humbling experience and fresh start will help with some of that. In the end, I want him to win. If thats the worst, I'll put up with that. I'd rather deal with that "childish" stuff than the adult stuff Cleveland is dealing with.
  5. I guess it depends on what you call decent. If you count a bunch of ints and blocked passes decent. The O was having trouble moving the ball. I'm not worried. Corral will pass him when he's ready, yes even in camp or practice. Sam is a low low bar. They are not giving him the benefit of the doubt. They did that last year.
  6. LOL You mistook boredom with anger. What a funny mod.
  7. CBS ranks us 23rd now, above the Pats and behind the Titans, 2 playoff teams. I look forward to ESPN's ranking revision. I don't think much of rankings. But they meant oh so much to some of you when ESPN had us dead last.
  8. I think that would apply if Darnold was a "camp star". But he isn't. He's inaccurate with and without time in the pocket. We chalked it up last year to our D being lights out. The reality is though, Sam sucks.
  9. Then Corral will beat him camp. If Corral can't beat wrong way Darnold in camp (who didn't even look good in camp last year), then he's not ready to be the backup.
  10. Oh there's a QB competition. But Darnold isn't competing against Mayfield. He's competing against Corral for #2.
  11. That doesn't fit with his history. He switched from Teddy after one year. Trying to get Wilson and Watson, drafting a QB and trading for Baker is essentially already admitting Sam was a failure. Shoot he so much as said Sam wasn't cutting it at the end of last season. He's dropped plenty of experiments and kept right on trucking. This won't be any different.
  12. https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/gm-report/how-much-better-does-baker-mayfield-make-the-panthers As far as 2022 is concerned, the Panthers were projected to win 5.52 games according to the Action Network prior to the Mayfield trade. Now, they're projected to win 6.62 games. In my opinion, I think it makes them at least 2-3 wins better. Before the trade, I had Carolina as a 6-7 win team. With Baker, I think 8-9 wins is attainable. I guess question becomes, how many games did we lose because of Sam's putrid play? I think it was more than 1.
  13. Baker when healthy has thrown 53 touchdowns to 22 picks, 63% completion percentage 94.8 passer rating and a 17-12 record. Now you go by his PFF grades throughout his career his rookie season he ranked 9th in terms of PFF grading, 2019 he was 10th, 2020 he was 13th, 2021 he was 30th .
  14. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32559762/the-story-how-baker-mayfield-odell-beckham-jr-field-browns-relationship-fell-apart Why didn't he throw it to Beckham? Especially when OBJ was wide open? Except, Beckham had run the wrong route. Or, to put it another way, his own route. "That's why Baker looked confused," as one team source put it. "That's how it was all year, which was frustrating." Over the following two seasons, Mayfield and Beckham both tried to make their connection work on the field. They spent hours throwing passes together. They took trips together. They even played video games together. I'm not saying Baker isn't a diva. He is. But he also played his best stretch of football AFTER Odel got injured mid season 2020 ...taking them to the playoffs, defeating the Steelers on the road and then losing to the KC by 5 at KC. Bakers antics on the sidelines are pure diva. I don't care. If that's why he was cheap for us, awesome. Just throw touchdowns.
  15. I don't count anything a W. I said we don't know what he'll look like. Lance did not blow the doors off in his rookie debut like Baker did. All we really have is his body of work last year with a 59 pff, 33.4 QBR, 57% completion rate, but a 97.3 PR. He may evolve into an awesome QB, but he wasn't last year. 9ers are a "?". Reports are just chatter either way. We don't know what he will actually do.
  16. I've reported this thread to have it removed. Just kidding.
  17. I hope Robbie rebounds this year. He had 519 yards and a 6.5% drop percentage last year with the worst QB in football. Meanwhile Thomas had a whopping 118 yards and a 13.3% drop rate or Chubba who had 786 total scrimmage yards and 18.9% drop rate. Chuba was a rookie tho so.
  18. We don't know what a Payton-less aints will look like. We don't know what the 9ers will look like with rookie Trey Lance (reports aren't that great) or Atlanta without Ryan. I see 7 winnable games, 2 weakened division opponents, a pass heavy west coast OC, new OL and a QB with a mean deep ball. In any case it is going to be better football to watch than last year.
  19. All I'm saying is you can't have two divas on the O. According the journalist on 4mr https://youtu.be/jIlLzLpEE3Y?t=2841: So I've talked to several players that are on the cleveland browns roster They asked to be left anonymous. The concept that Baker's a bad dude and a bad teammate that's not well liked in a general sense is just not fair. It's not accurate. Even Odell and Baker were getting along fine when that video that was made by an amateur fan that Odell Beckham Senior just retweeted it you know.... At the end of the day Odell wanted to be out of Cleveland. Receivers wanted to get away from Kevin Stefanski's offense for a long time going back to Stephon Digs in Minnesota. It's not a good fit. If you have a rule in your offense that says you throw to the guy who's doing his job...he's in this spot at this time and Odell Beckham Jr, we all know is an improviser. He moves around, he changes direction, he does whatever he thinks he has to do to get open and that's just not a good fit for that offensive system. It makes sense. Stephanski was a run first guy with Chubb and Hunt and there were a lot of wr mouths to feed. Odell wasn't getting the love he felt he deserved and woke up and realized he was living in Cleveland.
  20. I'm not saying Mayfield is perfect. GM's worry about locker rooms and Baker's rep aint great. But he was dealing with this guy:
  21. Browns were looking for a QB who's more of an adult, you know into adult things.
