So the guy who called us a clown show, is now saying we might go to the playoffs. Here's the full exchange:
-
That tv program is the real clown show.

Just verbage. Melvin, CJ and Taylor haven't shown NFL level-talent. They might develop. Horn hasn't had much of a chance yet, so we'll see. Donte's good, until he's not.
-
Donte has talent. Horn looked good, but we haven't seen enought to really know he does. I wouldn't say CJ, Taylor or Melvin have shown talent in the NFL. For CJ and Taylor, there's just potential talent. Until they show it...it isn't there.

Wilks has developed some good CB's. I'm hoping Henderson and Taylor develop.

I think the juries out. I think he over performed the first year by a couple games and under performed last year by a couple games. Tepper thinks injuries played a role, and he's not entirely wrong. I like Rhule's aggressiveness. I like that he goes for it on 4th. I like that he fakes punts. I like that he slow walks D-linemen in to force timeouts. I like that he forced out Hurney. I like that he didn't make us watch 3 years of Teddy or another year of Allen. Now the Brady/Sam/OL/Chuba choices were an unmitigated disaster. He was over aggressive, took to big a risk and got burned. But I like that he learns. McAdoo/ Mayfeild, Corral / Bozeman, Icky, Corbett, and Foreman, addressed those holes. I'm hopeful. If this works this year, there are some who will give credit where credits due, and some too filled hate.

I don't think Melvin, Taylor or Henderson looked all that great last year. We're proud of our cornerback room, but Donte is inconsistent, Horn got injured, and Henderson and Taylor really haven't shown it in the NFL yet. If it were me, I'd target Melvin, Taylor and Henderson every time they are on the field while waiting for those times Donte gets out of position.
-
True. But you just pass on first and 10 targeting Wilson. Sure 3rd and long we swap out but our field personnel just determine the play.
-
If Rhule is the screwup so many think he is, and HC is as important as is often touted here, its certain to fail. Its a tall order, even for an "average" coach. W's fix everything.

I agree. So many pieces that haven't shown consistent performance would have to gel in one season to make the playoffs...it just seems very unlikely. Mayfield, CMC, TMJ, Robbie, Icky, whoever plays LG, Thomas, Tremble, McAdoo, Shaq, Donte, Horn, Wilson, Littleton, Henderson, YGM, Hanes, Brown and Snow are all wildcards. They either are up and down, can't stay healthy or haven't shown that much or anything in the NFL yet. That's a lot of cylinders to get to fire. If I was opposing teams, I'd run the ball and target Henderson and Wilson on passing downs. On D, I'd focus on DJ and CMC.

"This is not the worst roster in the league. Far from it." Roster rank 26 "But Carolina's outlook isn't as dire as it looks." Overall rank: 31 Just more fuel for the fire.

Mayfield "at an immediate disadvantage" (The 33rd Team)
poundaway replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sam needs all the advantage's he can get. I doubt those extra weeks with the playbook will save him. -

Hard Knocks Baker's first game in the NFL

Ignore mr completely, he's grumpy atm.

Why u glad he's gone? Didn't he open the coolers after a 2 year dry spell, entering the game down 14 points? I think the Browns just exchanged childish problems for adult ones.

Another key Carolina Panthers executive leaves Tepper Sports

Another scapegoat. Poor guy, probably was super-talented and our HC just held him back. Am I doing it right? -

The only thing I'm worried about is if the Browns ruined him by playing him injured. There's talk that he has adjusted his throwing mechanics. That does not excite me. As for learning a new O or walking on a new team, he went to the 1-31 Browns who had just lost the first 2 games of the season. In the third game, they are down by 14 and Taylor gets hurt. Mayfield makes his NFL debut, comes in and they come back to win the game. They were in the playoff discussion until week 16, in his rookie year....that's with the HC being fired mid-season to be replace by....Kitchens.
