  1. Mayfield was a better QB in college than Corrall. Everything negative you said about Baker in the NFL applies to Corrall in college. Corrall hasn't even shown in camp that we should "crown his ass." Be patient. Give the kid time to develop. Sheesh.
  2. If CJ has, this secondary is going to be legit.
  3. Rumor is that Deshaun bet his friend he'd get a slap on the wrist. When the NFL found out they suspended him for 2 years.
  4. And thats just it, College<> NFL. Whatever they do at an unofficial HS competition or in college does not always translate. We'll see if Corral is as good in the NFL as he was in college. I'm not going to go pull up the scouting reports on Corral listing his weaknesses, cause I'm pulling for the guy. The game you're playing knocking Baker so that you can prop up Corral is only going to irritate people against him. If that's your goal, its working.
  5. Fair enough. The title: Baker Mayfield threw the longest recorded pass in NFL history, and it went so far that a defender crashed into the goalpost But you're right, it looks like Rodgers holds the record and Mayfield has some pff record. The point still stands that Mayfield has an arm.
  6. We don't have apples to apples on Corral v Baker arm talent. That said, Baker holds the record for the longest throw (incomplete) in NFL history: https://news.yahoo.com/baker-mayfield-threw-longest-recorded-220611858.html He is regularly top ten in deep ball accuracy: Since coming into the league, only Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes have a higher big-time throw rate than Mayfield (6.0%). https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-which-teams-make-sense-baker-mayfield Baker has shown his arm in the NFL. Corral will get his chance at some point and then we'll see.
  7. Meh. Plenty of teams have 4 QBs on the roster at this point. Corral isn't starting anytime soon. Most backups get limited time with the 1s. If we could trade Sam, we would. We'll be down to 3 at the cut and the huddle will still continue to bellyache about this.
  8. Trubisky was a backup last year and a FA this year. He had no trade value. So the little we traded for Baker, Trubisky was less. As for the selective stats comparing Baker and Trubisky on this thread, they ignore the 45% more TDs and yards that Baker generates. Baker has also won an away game against a division rival in the playoffs, Trubisky has never won a playoff game. Trubisky was a pro-bowler one year and I don't think Baker ever has been. I'm not saying Baker is an awesome quarterback or that he's far and away better. I'm saying I'd rather have Bakers 92 TD's to Trubisky's 64 and Baker did it with one less year in the league. Their passer ratings are almost identical.
  9. No one will judge by last week, even at this point. If the game was tomorrow, Baker would start. Darnold and Baker auditioned for starter every time they stepped on the field over the last 4 years. It's Bakers job to lose. Darnold would have to blow him out in camp, not squeak a few extra completions and a few fewer ints. Its possible, but seems unlikely. Baker would have to be impaired from his injuries to lose to Darnold.
  10. Baker vs Cam Highlights 2018 Russel Wilson and Baker on being shorter Baker interview on past behavior
  11. The D held them to FG on that int. We blocked a punt for a TD that gave us 7 points. Sam had 1 TD and 1 int, 188 yards passing for a 55 PR. We were 2 for 12 on 3rd down. Sam had one drive at the end of the game to tie up after 58 minutes of shlt. Yes the D blew overtime. But if Sam didn't completely SUCK the entire 58 minutes of play before, we wouldn't have been there. Football is played for 60 minutes, not 2.
  12. Baker is certainly uneven. In 2018, his 20 RZ TDs would rank him 7th right after Brees. In 2019 his 15 RZ TDs would rank him 15th right after Prescott. In 2020 his 21 RZ TDs would rank him 8th right after Mahommes. In 2021 his 12 RZ TDs would rank him 22nd right after Hurts (and the same as Heineke)
  13. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2018/redzone-passing.htm Baker in the RZ TD Int 2018 20 0 2019 15 3 2020 21 0 2021 12 0 Total 68 3
  14. When Sam threw an int on first down, the first play of the MN game, with plenty of time to throw, giving the ball to MN on our 22, all hope was gone. Sorry Sam. I just can't watch you anymore.
  15. Its the NFL, there's a lot of theatrics. With Baker "winning" the competition he will have "walked on" yet again to win another position on a team. There's probably some truth to it as well. It was possible that his injuries, combined with his "tweaked" throwing motion may have impaired his play. The NFL has a lot of theater and story telling.
  16. Since Sam sucks, yes we got fleeced. I was against it at the time and I wanted Fields in the draft. Just like I was against the Baker trade this time. Baker is an upgrade over Sam and the consensus is we will be more competitive and win more games with Baker.
  17. A future 2nd and 4th is not a fortune. In terms of pay, Sam was 10 million a year. I absolutely do not want to watch another year of Sam.
  18. The other teams were not interested because 1)Baker has a bad reputation in the locker room 2)He was injured a lot of last season so we don't know if he will return to form 3)He is up and down. He had sub-par play in 2019/2021 4)The Browns dragged their feet. We offered more during the draft. They thought they could get more. 5)Other teams felt they had a better QB or are still developing a QB they drafted. There it is numbered, essentially the exact same thing I've been saying.
  19. The Jets tanked for Sam and lost 5 years in the process: 1 year tanking, 3 with Sam, 1 year developing Wilson, that's assuming that the BYU QB pans out.
