  1. Sad part is, Corral actually worked his way out the end zone. It was penalties that put us back to the goaline. Daley looked like absolute dogshlt. Yes the OL looked absolutely horrid.
  2. Here's an article by Person who is no fan of Rhule. I'm not reading 40 pages, so I don't know if this is posted already:https://theathletic.com/3524514/2022/08/20/panthers-matt-corral-injury/ Injury to Panthers’ Matt Corral unfortunate, but Matt Rhule’s QB plan not to blame The Panthers have made some bad decisions at quarterback since Rhule arrived before the 2020 season. But this seems more like a case of bad luck.
  3. I think they're going to surprise people. I do. I think they are going to have a winning season. I think we're going to be talking about them in December. I really do.
  4. Draft rank doesn't guarantee success in the NFL. Draft "projections" mean even less, essentially next to nothing. Corral was playing behind essentially the same line PJ was behind. His lack of reps did not get him hurt. This sucks for him but it doesn't mean the end of his career and I still hope he develops to be a good QB. Drafting Corral gave us options when negotiating for Baker because the Browns didn't know if we were willing to walk away and just run with Sam/Matt. There was no way we were going with just Sam.
  5. We do not receive the same courtesy from the pats in preseason. They've injured 2 our QB's in a preseason game.
  6. Davis did something similar in a game. It looks bad because the guy is blindsided and isn't braced for the hit.
  7. I have to admit, Ikem did not look great. 1QB hit and 2 sacks on just 19 snaps. We're not talking about a few wrinkles here. That's a lot of ground to cover with the season looming.
  8. Thats exactly right. If OBJ is so awesome why is he now homeless? If Landry is so awesome why didn't Cleveland renew him instead of letting walk over to the Saints? Both were great players before Cleveland, and both saw their stats decline due to injuries and Stephanski's run heavy offense. Even Stephan Diggs wanted out of Stephanski's offense in MN https://thevikingage.com/2020/12/14/stefon-diggs-admits-minnesota-vikings/ I think the piece we're missing here is McAdoo. He knows how to scheme up a passing offense better than Stephanski. CMC, DJ, Robbie, Diggs, and even Thomas & Tremble are going to feast this year because McAdoo knows how to scheme them open and Baker can get them the ball accurately. I think Baker could have a career year just like Eli did under McAdoo in NY.
  9. I know Skip doesn't like the Panthers, or Rhule but loves Baker. He didn't want Baker to come here, and predicted that it would hurt Bakers career. Now he's talking like we are a potential wildcard team ,listing the OL , Wr's and Defense. Its quite a turn around in a few weeks. As for the Sam starting week 1, we'll settle up after Baker actually takes the first snap.
  10. Even clown show Skip Bayless liking the Panthers now. We were a clown show, now we're wild card?
  11. I think its more than 4th qtr. He was saying we need to run the ball more going into the Giants game, who had one of the worst pass D's in the league. Personally, with Baker, Moore, CMC, Higgins, and Robbie, I'd like to see us pass it more. I think Rhule is wrong on this one. We have 2 of the best run D's in the league in our division. I really hope McAdoo calls the final shots here. https://www.wbtv.com/2021/10/18/coach-matt-rhule-wants-carolina-panthers-run-ball-more/ https://news.yahoo.com/panthers-winning-formula-run-ball-214709095.html https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2022/01/10/panthers-hc-matt-rhule-run-2022/
  12. He has never had a good running back, and he didn't need to run that much anyway because the passing attack was so effective. In any event, someone is going to be out of their comfort zone, whether its Rhule, McAdoo, the OL or Baker.
  13. Oh. That's too bad. Never wish for someone to get hurt.
  14. There are so many beyond just health history of CMC, Horn and Baker. McAdoo has never had a strong run game. Our line is better at run blocking, Rhule wants a strong run game, Baker has had his best years on a team with one of the best running games in football. Can Macadoo scheme a good run game? He never has before. On D, I don't think we've replaced Reddick adequately. There's hope there for some combination of players to step up, but its just hope.
  15. I can assure you there were many who thought Sam would start week 1.
  16. I think the article's premise that the odds for a 2021 Bengals SB run are similar odds for Panthers 2022 SB run, is interesting. Few predicted the Bengals to make a run for it. Its very unlikely we're going to the SB, but I bet we do better than what many believe. Fingers crossed we stay healthy.
  17. I agree. Burrow looked like a HOFer last year. Newton looked like one in 2015. I look forward to see if Burrow can sustain it. Even Brady had his up and down seasons.
  18. I agree its too far atm but tbf at this point last year Burrow and Baker were being compared. Baker had just come off a playoff win in Pittsburg and Burrow an injury ended season. Few predicted Baker to implode and Burrow to do his first 5 GWDs for a SB run. We'll see if the Bengals fall to earth with a SB hangover and if Burrow is the HOF he looks to be.
  19. https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/3429532/if-theres-a-team-that-could-be-this-years-version-of-the-2021-bengals-its-the-carolina-panthers Even under Stefanski, (Bakers) average intended air yards ranked top five in the NFL over the past two seasons. You may be thinking by this point, "Yeah but the whole premise of this blog falls apart because Baker is nowhere NEAR Joe Burrow's level!" Remember what was going down prior to Week 1 of 2021? Joey B. was coming off a brutal knee injury and very few expected him to even be recovered to play by then, much less make it through the season behind his awful offensive line — much less suddenly transform into a top-five QB and spark a Super Bowl run! So yeah, Burrow is better than Baker, but that doesn't render this entire, larger narrative irrelevant. The Panthers have different team strengths than the Bengals did, namely an outstanding defense.
