If you say so. My guess is we'll land right about where vegas put us in preseason. We have four 3-win opponents coming up. Lets see whats happens.
-
Fair enough. I'll give you bubble gum, but I think duct tape is a stretch.

Thats 2014 dude, not last year. But good catch, my bad. I must have heard the announcer wrong. So in your mind 38-0 at the half is so much worse than 35-0 at the half? In stead of worst performance of all time, what was it 3rd or 4th worst performance? I bet the Bucs were pulling to keep Smith at HC after that performance too.

Allen had a heck of game last week fumbling in the ez, throwing ints in the ez. Brady working his magic.
-
Isn't that what the Huddle is? Armchair GM land.

I'm just repeating what the announcer said. It was definitely the worst first half in Panthers history. Even when the Bears beat the Packer 61-7 in 1980, it was only 28-0 at the half. Which team was down by more than 35 points at the half last year?

Your obsession with Rhule will probably never end. Wonder how many years in the future you still will be bitching about him. We should rename the huddle. Tepper decided to keep Rhule, so I found no point in posting post after post after post after post bitching about him. I guess he broke your heart. I didn't absolutely hate Rhule with every fiber of my being down to my atoms, so you say Rhules my "boy". Rhule was a sucky ass coach. There, just ANOTHER post where I said Rhule sucked. But it won't count because I'm 123,487,123,948,712,304,981,234 posts behind you. Sheesh. Haters gonna hate.

We never were taking a DT at 1. Cam was the pick as soon as he won the heisman. I can't believe you think we were considering another year of Clausen. Saying that we should have taken Dareus is like saying Rhule is going start Sam to save face.
-
You are right, he has little room for error. To have a winning record Wilks needs to win 5 more games. Its very possible. Lions 3-6, Broncos 3-6 , Steelers 3-6, Saints 3-7 All are winnable. The Bucs are 5-5.

Again, choosing Cam over Locker and Gabbert was a no brainer. Nobody rated Locker or Gabbert higher. We're not comparing Cam to Luck because Luck wasn't in that draft (even though Cam trounced Luck in the heisman trophy race that year.) You have to compare Cam to Locker and Gabbert and nobody mocked Locker or Gabbert even close to Cam.
-
That is one TALL stack of excuses. So Wilks admittedly didn't have the personnel for a 4-3 but he ran one anyway? Rather than adjusting his scheme for his personnel, he made them change to his scheme? And that is what you want...a coach married to his scheme irregardless of his personnel?

This is so true. Some love RR like their wife.

Who cares WHEN they mocked us? The fact is we desperately needed a QB and we weren't going to choose Locker or Gabbert over Cam. Most mocks had them outside the top 5. Some had Locker taken at 25. As for Luck, Cam beat Luck for the Heisman, winning the vote nearly 10-1. As I said, QB is always a gamble, but the separation between the Heisman winning national Champion and Gabbert or Locker was apparent in the reviews, the mocks and then the actual draft. No one was saying we should have drafted Locker. This notion that RR was some kind of draft genius is just intimate fluffing.

I call BS. Choosing a QB is always a risky gamble. College doesn't always translate to the pros. The questions is, what did we need and what was available. We clearly needed a QB and no one mocked Locker to us. Cam Newton was the Heisman Trophy winner who carried Auburn on his back to the national championship. The next QB (Locker ) wasn't taken until 8. Nobody traded up for Locker . ESPN, SI, BR, SBNation, Walter all mocked Cam to us.

Wilks took an 8-8 team in Arizona and turned it into the absolute worst team in football who immediately rebounded once he was gone. As a defensive minded coach, his D in Arizona was one of the worst in the league, with Holcomb as his DC. Its like no one watched the Rams game where the average depth of target was NEGATIVE and Wilks outright said that was the game plan. Apparently everyone has forgotten the Bengals game where we lost in the first half, decimated 35-0. The worst performance by a football team in 40 years.

We'd be hating on Ron constantly if it wasn't for Cam. Ron was gifted the #1 overall pick with a very obvious choice in that draft. His players are a who's who of the greatest Panthers of all time, and he couldn't get it done The Broncos said that we made absolutely no adjustments in the SB. We did exactly what they had on tape. The loss was on Ron as much as anybody. He constantly blamed the players with their "missed opportunities." He punted in field goal range. He overplayed old vets to a fault. Ron COMPLETELY ignored the OL. He used Cam as a battering ram, depleted our roster and then left us a shlt show for the next coach to figure out.

We lost to the Bengals in the first half 35-0. It was over at the half. It was the worst beating in football since the 1970's. In PJ's first game, he had a negative average depth of target throwing for a total of 60 yards. PJ threw 5 completions against the Bengals, 2 of them were to the other team for a passer rating 0.0 PJ is what he is. This team is what it is. We have NOT made some leap in performance. Anyone saying that didn't watch the Bengals game.

Wilks is trying to win, always have been.

How bad does PJ need to play to be removed as starter?
poundaway replied to AlphabetsEnd's topic in Carolina Panthers
That already happened, with the worst 1st half in the NFL since the 1970s. It is apparently going to have to happen multiple times. -

Apparently its going to take multiple Bengals-like performances before PJ is pulled. There's a reason Tepper chose Wilks.
