Steven Smith Sr first round QB breakdown

"So let's get into it. Bryce I love Bryce... has a strong arm pure placement right accuracy his his processing is head above CJ. I'm telling you right now teams have told me CJ Stroud is a fantastic football player and he's a okay process. When you compare him to Bryce young it ain't even in the same ballpark CJ is taller. Bryce is shorter. Bryce's processing is taller CJ's processing is shorter. When you compare the two ... I'm talking about it's in the 70s 80s and CJ is not in the 70s or 80s that's all I'm saying." -

I wouldn't do it for a 2nd. It will take a 1.

Is Houston that desperate? At that point I'd take Anderson or trade down if I was Houston.
-
They tried to trade. If they didn't care who they got, why would they try to trade one spot?
-
The question is what is decent compensation? I just don't think a 2nd is worth it. The gap (whether height or pressured play) is just too big between the two for my tastes. We gave up a second, next year's 1st and DJ. The position is just too important. For me, it would take next years 1st and there is no way Houston is going to do that. We should just take the best QB.

Top 10 in Pressure% and pocket time last year, but the line remained relatively healthy and our depth is not great at this point. Brown is making the playbook with Reich being pretty much "hands off", so looks like a Rams derivative. I guess we'll see.

Just take the better QB at 1 and be done with it.

Stroud is an excellent QB and I would be happy to have him a Panther. He does not walk on water. His biggest knock is his 41% completion rate and 42 pff when under pressure, ranking 97th out of 144 QBs. He's been called a statue in the pocket. Young's performance simply does not drop off anywhere near that far when under pressure. If you think Stroud's pressure rate is going to stay the same as it was behind NFL lineman in the Big10, I would think again. Read Stroud's other negatives here: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/c.j.-stroud/32005354-5270-2090-cc17-67cd6da43535 https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Coleridge-Stroud-QB-OhioState https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/c-j-stroud-nfl-draft-2023-scouting-report-prospect-profile-nfl-combine-results-pro-comparison-more/ https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2023-nfl-draft-profile-c-j-stroud-ohio-state

Funny. Manning comparing Young to Burrow, considering Burrow got hurt his rookie season.
-
I originally bought into the Stroud support here with the accuracy, arm, height/durability points. Stroud is super-poised and accurate in the pocket. Then I started watching every offensive snap you tube videos on both of them and I was sold on Young. Young can be deadly sitting in the pocket, but he is cunning and slippery with the pressure and I want that for us in our arsenal. Some see his height as a disadvantage and in many ways it is. But in some ways I think it can play to our favor. Exciting times.

Houston certainly should try to trade with us. We recently said we were no longer looking to trade down so they are in a tight spot. Stroud did get better, but his first season it was NOT good. I just think Stroud would really struggle in Houston. Houston needs us to take Stroud or they look like idiots. I hope we take Bryce Young.

...is that your second or 3rd post about him on this thread? Obsessed much? Little PTSD? Having trouble letting go? Some of us have moved on frankw. You should too. It'll be ok frank. Young or Stroud, either of them will look better here than Houston. Which ever one we pick, it will look like the right one, at least at first, because we have a better overall situation. Either of them will struggle in Houston.
