Person: Richardson still in the conversation...if we trade down

No. This is why.

If only he had Brady's processing.

Albert Breer on Panthers #1 pick (no trade back)
poundaway replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
So how long did Wilson last and how long did Cam last? How many SBs for Wilson and how many for Cam? How many SB rings for Wilson and how many for Cam? Wilson is still going. Cam's injuries have decimated his career. The anecdotes do not support the size bias. The analysis does not support the size bias. He's a smidge shorter than Wilson, does that 1/4 inch mean that he's a dead man walking? I seriously doubt that. Did being taller help Corral? He didn't play a single regular season snap last year. Does our QB have to be taller than Corral to keep healthy? Doubt it. At some point its just bias. I'm with Smitty. Take the "taller processor", not the taller QB. -
That very same coach may take the smaller QB.

I'd be really worried for Stroud then. The data shows bigger QB's get injured MORE. But you do you.

What percentage of his snaps were under center?
-
If only they awarded a SB ring for that.

Bryce Young Film Breakdown Megathread
poundaway replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree. Things may change in the next few weeks, but it looks like its Young atm. Your right, this is gonna be great wild ride. -
I doubt Gibbs will be there. Maybe I guess. As tempting as it may be, 39 is awful high for a RB. I want a RB, I don't know if I want to use 39 on it and the edge class is deep.
-
Actually I'd be just as worried for Stroud. He is less slippery, less mobile and processes slower and Johnson Jr. is probably going to be one of the first few OT's off the board.
-
PFF, Draft Buzz, Sports News, ESPN,Walter Football, CBS Sports, NFL.com, and SI.com all have Bryce Young as #1 on THEIR boards. Not mock draft, who they would choose. I'd take the taller processor. We'll see who Reich and co take.

What is really exciting is that one of these guys is very likely going to bust. The odds of picking a franchise is less that 50% to begin with. Odds are 2-1 against both Young and Stroud panning out. Now we are in better shape in coaching, line, D, weapons and division than Houston so whoever we pick is coming into a better situation. I'd just rather have the "taller processor" as Smitty put it.

I'm glad we agree that there are concerns about Stroud, as there are for Young. Neither of them are going to walk on water.

Great post. I completely agree that we need Edge and CB help. I think OL depth needs to move up a notch. It is unlikely we go the whole year with no injuries to that unit and I don't think we have quality depth there. I am not convinced Sanders is a big upgrade over Foreman. Foreman has a yard more YAC and Sanders is leaving the best OL in football. I really think we need a bruiser RB in the draft or FA. If Sanders get hurt we are stuck with Chuba.

I like Stroud and if he becomes a Panther, then awesome. But his ~40% completion rate under pressure should give pause.

We are in the “everyone is lying” zone of pre-draft
poundaway replied to Doc Holiday's topic in Carolina Panthers
I put the "coachable" rumor crap in the same pile as the "can't take snaps under center" and "has a high chance to get hurt". There's nothing to prove any of it. People will believe what they want to believe, regardless if there is coach actually saying it, or any anecdotes or stats to back it up...as long as it suits their guy. -
I agree 100%. We desperately need quality depth on the OL. I hope we're not done at RB either. Sanders does not have the YAC that Foreman had and if he gets hurt, I do NOT want to be dependent on Chuba.
