Watson not out of woods yet - 2nd grand jury
poundaway replied to FugginPoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ok. I was wrong. I was one of the ones who wanted Deshaun. That looks like a huge mistake. -
It worked for the Rams and TB.
-
Looks like the loss of Reddick and Gilmore is offset by our OL acquisitions.
-
It depends on where you trade down to. We turned away an offer with -100 points on the deal which is steep. I'd trade down for negative points, but 100 is too high.

The Niners offered a first round pick for Darnold last season?
poundaway replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd wait a bit. 9ers can't keep him. We just need to find a place for Darnold. Jimmy is a huge upgrade over Sam by most measures. Yes, JimmyG looks pretty bad during the playoffs , which is when most of us watch him (74.1 PR), but he is MUCH better during the regular season (98.9 PR). For those wanting the playoffs this year, JimmyG is our best shot. I'm not sure any of these rookies can do it their first year. -
The Pick Should Be Charles Cross or Evan Neal, Period!!!
poundaway replied to Matthias's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wonder what the situation was with Joe Brady and Sam. Brady isn't in Panthers Confidential at all. Phil Snow is, but not Brady. Even in the meeting discussing getting Sam, Brady is not there. Rhule said that the idea for Sam came from Snow, not Brady. Brady didn't even go to the senior bowl. Maybe Brady was against the Sam trade. His comments early on "I have something with Sam Darnold" and "he's growing from his experiences". Mac is an upgrade here, because he seems to have an eye for this stuff and Rhule is going to listen to him more than Brady. -
Reddick played out of his mind last year and was a key reason the D started out so strong. We should have signed a 2 year on that one, but oh well. I don't think Haynes or Luvu have the abiltiy to do as well as Reddick did. I would be very happy if we put some capital there.

There were coaches who didn't win their second year who went on to the SB. Considering we were decimated talent wise when RR left, and the injuries last season, expecting a winning season with Sean Payton, the SB champs and GOAT in your division isn't realistic. Cleveland had the same standards when they fired Belichek, to start the coaching carousel. I'm not happy with Rhule, but I don't seethe with hate toward him either....certainly not enough to make post after post, thread after thread, whining and bitching about him. We'll see, I don't see us in the playoffs, but then again I didn't expect the Bengals in the SB this year. We could have a better year than we are expecting and that's part of the fun of being a fan.

This pissed me off more than anything. Cam was thrown into that crappy shambles of an offense with 2 seconds to prepare. He didn't look great, but Sam had all season to show what he could do with with it with a full preseason to learn it. Rhule should have never done that to Cam. The Cam situation has not be handled properly since Rhule came on the scene, no doubt. Cam may be on the decline, but that was outright wrong.

Why on earth should we have had a winning season last year? Who predicted that? I know some huddle homers were expecting better than Vegas' line at 7, but expecting a winning season....sheesh. Then after CMC and Horn went down, to still expect it, that's like uber homer. I don't think Zac Taylor, Kyle Shanahan, or Ron Rivera had winning second seasons. Shoot I don't think Kubiak or Bellicheck did either. I don't want a revolving door of HC's keeping us in the basement. But if Rhule isn't going to grow I want him gone too. Rhule's screwed up, for sure, and Tepper has decided to keep him another year. So be it. I'm willing to wait to see if he can right the ship.

Many huddle posts are people pretending to know things, that they clearly don't. We like FA so we assume that Rhule has been stripped of power and act like we know that, when we have no evidence to back it up. We under performed last season by 2 games without our best player on O and without one of best players on D. Do that to any other team, and the results would have been the same. We would have won seven games if CMC and Horn didn't get hurt for the season. People act like we were playoff bound last year and Rhule blew it. Whatever.

https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/49ers/jimmy-garoppolo-trade-why-panthers-dont-make-sense-49ers-partner The 49ers, according to reports, are asking for something in the neighborhood of one to two second-round picks for Garoppolo. As far as compensation in a Garoppolo trade, there's also the fact Ryan only fetched a third-round pick. Ryan is more durable and accomplished than Garoppolo, so it seems unlikely that the Panthers, or any team, will meet the 49ers' reported asking price. There's also the issue of Darnold and his $18.58 million fully-guaranteed salary. Should the Panthers trade for Garoppolo, they'd have to find a taker for Darnold just one year after they gave up three draft picks to get him. With four years of subpar to downright ghastly play on tape, Darnold is a sunk cost, and there's little chance any team will willingly take him off the Panthers' hands and pay that salary. The 49ers wouldn't be interested in taking back Darnold even if the Panthers ate a chunk of his salary. San Francisco guaranteed Nate Sudfeld's $2 million contract, which signaled they intend to have him back up Lance next season. The 49ers also would like to re-allocate Garoppolo's money to contract extensions for Deebo Samuel and Nick Bosa. Taking on any amount of Darnold's money doesn't fit with the plan. 9ers may be stuck with JimmyG for a while. They are not going to send him in division to the Seahawks...and we're stuck with Sam.

I agree Philly has the picks to trade with. I'm impressed with this guy and think if we traded back he is a prime target. Former TE, impressive.

testing edit works it works thanks!

Sorry a 6th is 1600 points. Point still stands: 6th (1600 pts) > 20th (850 pts)+ 24th(740 pts) Can you not edit your posts here?
-
Yes. 6th (6000 pts) > 20th (850 pts)+ 24th(740 pts) We could trade the 6th down with the Eagles for two first round picks and get a 1st rnd QB and a 1st round tackle.
-
I agree.

With the hype, he may not be there at 6.

20 TDs is also the same as Matt Ryan, who went for a third. BTW that is 3 more TD's than Mayfield. True, his int% is high at 2.7, ranked 27th, but passer rating and QBR take ints and TDs into account. His int% is the same as Joe Burrow, but it is better than Mayfield who has an int% of 3.1 ranked 29th. I noted his injury history twice and said he has only played one full season. Yes he's older, but he hasn't had the wear and tear because he sat behind the GOAT for years. Belichek wanted him to take over, Kraft wouldn't have it. I'm not saying to break the bank for the guy. I'm saying he's a good QB and is much better than Darnold or Mayfield.

Jimmy G. Who knows if this is true
poundaway replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
JimmyG>>>Darnold on every level. There's no comparison. Injuries are a concern, but when healthy he is a very good QB. -
Panthers hold prelim talks with Mayfield reps
poundaway replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
27th in passer rating, 28th in QBR. NOOOOOOO! Step away from the ledge. -
He had the 9th highest passer rating at 98.7 last year. Higher than Mahomes, Herbert, Josh Allen, and Tannehill. He had 12th highest qbr at 53.3, just below Joe Burrow (11th) at 54.3. He was 12th in yards per game with 254 , above Jackson, Ryan, Wilson and Tannehill, just behind Arron Rodgers (11th) with 257. 9ers beat the Packers in the playoffs last year. The guy is an elite QB who has taken his team deep into the playoffs two times. He has only played a full season once going 13-3. He's better than Matt Ryan when he plays, he's just had 2 years of injury and was hurt again this year for a couple games. A third sounds about right, I'd go a bit higher if they take Darnold. Since we don't have a third atm, I'd consider next years second and they take Sam and some of his contract off our hands.

Yeah. Rhule and Fitterer are kicking ass. I give it a B+. Get a LT and a QB and LFG.
