  1. I've watched a lot of his games this year, not an SC fan but I have buddies that are so we watch.  I'm not big on Rattler at all but from what I saw, this year, his OC wasn't helping him early in the year.  Most Saturday's we play a game during the game.  Every time there is a wide receiver screen pass, we take a drink.  Needless to say, a case of beer could be gone by the end of the game.  Against Tennessee and Clemson they finally let the kid air the ball out and I have to say, he looked good doing it.  The entire year, all I heard from Gamecock fans was they needed to fire the OC.

  2. As I said in another thread, this is what bad front offices do.  There is no way you don’t make that trade.  Mr. Scott mentioned earlier that they were running the opposite side of Burns, that’s fine but that’s also the point, there are no complimentary pieces, it does no good to have one All Star, which he isn’t, and the rest are plebs.  We are way more than a few pieces away and draft picks would have lets us acquire more potential in all positions.

Why is Grayson McCall playing for Coastal Carolina?  If the skills and talent were really there wouldn’t he be at some bigtime school?  And if he was would he be good?

At the end of last year he actually had offers from several P5 schools and thought about entering the transfer portal and leaving but decided he was going to finish what he started at Coastal

Van Dyke has some arm talent and looked legit last year.  He has played better these past couple games.  I wouldn't right him off and his arm could easily get him drafted before McCall.

People say the same thing about Spencer Rattler but while it might happen, it shouldn't

The pushback against McCall in here is a bit too far but his arm leaves a lot to be desired. If he had legit credentials, his name would be buzzing in the scouting world with these stats he’s putting out and he simply isn’t generating the hype.

He’s a pretty typical modern mid-rounder a la James Morgan or Minshew. Sometimes they can produce, most of the time they don’t.  That’s really all there is to it.

He doesn’t have the strongest arm for sure, but accuracy, touch, etc it’s crazy to read what I’ve read in here.  The number 3 team in SC just beat the best team in NC and it it weren’t for revivers dropping balls it would have been bad

I'd throw a 5th at him. Nothing more. He has zero velocity

Have you watched this game at all?  He has had plenty of zip on intermittent passes like the one another receiver just missed.  On the deep ball he has touch.  Kids is good, not great right now, but he will not make it to the 5th, round is a possibility but a lot of boards have home as the 5th QB coming out so 2nd rounder is what I’m thinking

Lol bro, as an App grad I have watched every game we’ve ever played against Coastal. I have seen McCall play in person. I’m not saying he isn’t good, but he isn’t good enough to warrant the amount of defense you’re heaping on the kid in this thread. I have seen Chadwell’s offense in person multiple times, I know what it’s quirks are. McCall has even said it’s the same offense he ran in HS in Indian Trail. He has tools, but he would be as much of a developmental QB as Corral is

I live 5 miles down the street, I’ve been watching him since he got here, and if you actually read my post I’ve always said, if you are trading back, he is the one.  I have never claimed he was a first rounder, go check my post, but the crap I’m seeing in here, tonight, is rediculous

Anyone who has actually watched Coastal’s offense can see that it’s all 1-read passes based on getting someone wide open off of motion and option. You don’t see McCall having to go through many progressions. Usually if he has to, he ends up trying to run

Obviously you missed the read option earlier that resulted in positive yards due to a split second decision.  Look I don’t think the dude is a first rounder but what I’m reading on here you guys have never watched him play.  It’s not one read passes, he reads the entire defense and sees the field so he knows exactly who is open.  Not saying RPO works in the NFL but the RPO in its nature is not one read at all, it’s what you see because of his ability to READ the defense.

As if CCU hasn't been bailed out by penalties repeatedly tonight

I didn’t say they haven’t but you’re making claims that he had missed another wide open receiver when he has only missed 3 passes so far tonight like it was on him.  I get there are a lot of APP st homers in here like UNC but let’s call it like it is

Missed another wide open receiver, clearly a first round talent here

He didn’t miss him that ball was perfect the receiver was held did you not see the replay?  You have to remember he isn’t the throwing to Alabama, Ohio St talent here

fuging Chase Brice who's going to be selling cars this time next year has made more tough throws this game than McCall

So 30 yards more passing 1 less TD on a team that hasn’t been able to run the ball and has had one more possession is doing better?  You people amuse me

  12. It’s showing you that he is smart enough to run a complicated offense and so far rofl stomp a team that should have beat Carolina that did beat Texas A&M.  I love how some are downplaying this because “Coastal”

Good touch on the deep ball

    good zip on intermediate passed

great read of what the defense is giving him

I remember when peppers could’ve been traded and left for the open market and we got absolutely nothing for him. Burns does not want to stay here.  Get the First round picks and move on.

Oh man, I had forgotten about that, he just walked away and we were stuck with nothing.  Painful memory there!  That is what bad front offices do, you take this trade and you run, get something while you can before we have another good player just walk away and we are searching for his replacement with no compensation

What did the Bears give up for Mack? He was an elite pass rusher at the time…

The Bears traded two first-round picks, a third-round pick and a sixth round pick to the Oakland Raiders for Mack and 2020 second round and conditional fifth round draft picks.

But even the most diehard fan on here isn't going to compare Kalil Mack to Brian Burns....are they?

  15. Here is the thing about future picks, let's say that, so far, the front office isn't sold on any of the QB's in this years draft class and are looking ahead.  Let's also say that looking ahead to next years draft class they see 3 or 4 QB's that they believe has more potential than the current QB class.  Having that additional capital gives them room to negotiate.  Not saying I agree with that but my goodness (and this pains me to say as a Duke fan), a chance to get Maye would already be tickling my fancy.   Burns is a good player, and I really like him but being honest with where we are right now, the draft picks are more important than one particular player.
