I'm looking at two different write ups where one says we'll get whoever we want when it comes time to put in a claim during those first 3 weeks like you mentioned while the other says it's not that way. I guess we'll find out next Tuesday/Wednesday. Personally, I want it to be the way you suggested where the team can just claim whoever tf they want and roll from there.

Not to say that we lose any positioning, but that when we put in that first waiver claim it won't have to be for a DB and the team ends up missing out on OL/QB3/EDGE. To my understanding (and please, somebody correct me if I'm wrong), being first in priority doesn't mean that the Panthers get all of their players that they put in a claim for but rather they'll get the first one, and if the second one goes unclaimed by the remainder of the league they'll be able to land them, and so on. Still trying to find clear and concise rules though to make sure. The way that I understand it to work means that the Panthers can put that first claim towards OL, QB3, or EDGE instead of putting in for the CB first and potentially losing a guy at one of those other positions that they want to bring in.

Keep an eye on Jonathan Cooley. If Evero goes next season to take over somewhere as a head coach I can see Cooley being in the running for the DC position alongside Todd Wash if neither of them follow Evero.

It's worth mentioning that with Dane Jackson out for at least the first 2 - 4wks (making him a potential PUP candidate), Lamar Jackson + Anthony Brown leaving the Jets game with injuries, and after getting a cpl of days to look at Chris Wilcox + Willie Drew that the team still wanted a veteran presence opposite of Horn that will execute within the defense. 6'1" 210lbs CB. Looks like we're going to lean on secondary players with good size which makes sense given Evero's scheme. Disguising coverages with big bodied DBs has got to be stressful for QBs and receivers alike.

Weird... the other thread disappeared. For those that didn't get a chance to catch up: Mike Macdonald has history with Michael Barrett from his time as the Michigan DC. Seattle is currently deep at CB but has injuries at WLB and need somebody that can play ST. Jackson was the 26th ranked CB out of 229 according to PFF grades last year. Panthers were able to swap a 7th round rookie that had never played in a regular season game for a guy with 5yrs in the league. Not bad.

Also not practice related but still Panthers related: It's the love of XL's grandmother for me

Semi-related but not practice-related, I highly recommend giving Cooley's interview with The Athletic a listen. Great insight into the approach that these coaches are taking with the players.

Sounds like Defensive Pass Game Coordinator Jonathan Cooley is up
