  1. Reich, Caldwell, and McCown working together to find the team a franchise QB... omggg
  2. Jim Caldwell and Dom Capers as senior assistance to the offense and defense respectively? I'm geeking rn
  3. Hard to make an argument against moving up to #3 if Stroud or Young are available.
  4. Holy fug Thomas Brown has been one of my favourite coaches in the NFL for the last few years. The dude is smart and an amazing teacher. Players love him. Stealing him from the Rams would be a huge W
  5. Ngl, I'd be ok with it just to see a few posters implode Will be interesting to see who (if any) between Sam, Jacoby, and Gardner gets signed here
  6. This. This. This. Reich being able to develop quality NFL coaches will be a tremendous blessing. Continually developing quality coordinators that can handle their jobs with the X's & O's and having position coaches that are proven teachers is something that this team has sorely missed.
  7. Legitimately giddy for this new Panthers team. McCown is a great OC in waiting if we get Brian Johnson and he's poached right away. Loving that Reich is staying true to his word when he said that he took pride in developing successful coaches. They've brought on guys that are proven teachers as well.
  8. Isn't that what people essentially do with the draft though? Try and forecast how well a college athlete would do at the professional level? Since this thread specifically asks where Corral would be selected in this draft, that means we gotta compare him to the current QBs. Seeing as how the alleged #1 QB in this draft is Bryce Young and he plays in the SEC West, that comparison matters. Scouts talk to coaches all of the time and take their input into consideration when evaluating prospects. Why would he fall in this draft when he was being included in the conversation with Young + Stroud until him and the rest of the Ole Miss offensive starters got hurt? This QB class is also being talked up as being weak due to the best QB in the class being potentially 5'11" 185lbs and has a project guy being talked up as top 15 the same way that Malik Willis was overhyped due to his ceiling. He'd at worse be in the convo w/ Levis/AR if he had a terrible season, but if he continued his trajectory he'd be in the convo with Young/Stroud this year the same way he was last year. Hell, Johnny Manziel was drafted in the 1st round over Teddy Bridgewater, Derek Carr, and Jimmy Garoppolo. Yet, I can't think of one (sane) person that was say that Manziel being drafted at #22 shows that he was more valuable than those other three. As mentioned, this isn't a "START CORRAL!" movement on my end and I hope that the staff does their due diligence on the current crop of QBs. This post and my previous one are just disagreeing with the idea that Corral drops an entire round or two when this QB class is so desperate for talent that Anthony Richardson is being talked up as being potentially drafted in the top 15.
  9. Gonna get poo'd to Hell for this one, but someone has to say it: The team did try to put an OL in front of Cam Newton. Unfortunately, injuries and Marty Hurney (who put the team in cap hell and when he came back after 3 seasons promptly drafted Greg Little) fuged it up.
  10. We are going to have to wait until the draft to determine how other teams view these current QBs. Many thought that Malik Willis was going first due to his ceiling, but he fell as well. Sam Howell was evaluated as well, got passed over until the 5th but is on course to start for Washington. If folks stated that Corral was above Howell here, there'd have been heel to pay (I couldn't resist... the dad joke was just sitting there for the taking).
  11. Heavily disagree. Matt Corral last season was being hyped up as competing with Bryce Young + CJ Stroud as QB1. He was the betting favourite for the Heisman partway through the season before injuries to him + his team (9 of 11 offensive starters missed practice at the beginning of November ) SEC West teams: Bama, LSU, Miss St, Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Auburn He'd be, at worst, a 2nd round pick depending on how the season played out (imo of course). Very highly likely a 1st round pick since he was being projected as a potential late 1st as a junior. NOTE: Just wanted to clarify that this isn't a "START CORRAL IN 2023!" post. Corral was highly touted but injuries to almost the entire offense at Ole Miss created plenty of issues. At worst, he'd be in the convo with Levis/Richardson. At best, he's in the convo with Young/Stroud (which is where he was to start the season and during it until the aforementioned injuries piled up). We got a solid prospect, but whether or not that prospect actually works out we'll have to wait and see of course. Hopefully that doesn't mean that they don't do their due diligence on this year's QB class and find out if one of the upcoming rookies matches the new regime better than Corral would. EDIT: Heavily disagree with Corral as a day 3 guy, but heavily agree that the 2022 QB class was doo doo
  12. Wouldn't be mad if they took Duggan or DRT. Could be fun if they pan out.
  13. I've made it a personal policy to ignore mocks until after free agency. You'd think that now is bad, but man... those 2 weeks between the combine and free agency have some WILD content. Outrage marketing in full swing rn
  14. That's been the casual fan's attitude towards him since he was drafted tbh. He was supposed to be the heir to TD and that made folks feel insecure because TD is beloved. Since then, it's just been every excuse to denigrate him and/or his play. The man had one of if not the lowest missed tackle % on the team and posters were complaining that he was missing too many tackles. You just can't convince people that have already decided that they know better.
  15. I can see moving up to #3 if Carolina falls in love with Young or Stroud and Houston takes the one they don't covet. The question then becomes: what cost are the Panthers willing to pay if one of the teams with a higher selection wants to slide up like the Colts or the Raiders? On the flip side, with Irsay apparently smitten by the idea of drafting Will Levis, that might also mean that CJ Stroud is available at #9 should Seattle + Las Vegas not go QB in round one. If one of those teams does take Stroud (or Levis if available instead), there's still Anthony Richardson to gamble on.
  16. I remember hearing that Jets tape was being watched on a potential target and they kept noticing Luvu. That's so sick if it was Luke!
  17. Come on now. We know ppl don't come to the Internet to escape their echo chamber. They're likely ingesting vast amounts of copium by pivoting to, "Fitterer knew that he was going to be a yes man. It's still his fault that we traded for Sam Darnold." Gotta wonder if it is Fitt's "fault" that they got Luvu. It was mentioned during an interview that while watching tape on a Jets player that Luvu was noticed. Can't help but think that the actual scout picked up on him rather than the guy micromanaging the marketing department that changed QBs every season instead of developing one.
  18. Some possible UFA QB options if Carr and Lamar hit free agency: Lamar Jackson Derek Carr Jimmy Garoppolo Sam Darnold Jacoby Brissett Geno Smith Mike White Cooper Rush Baker Mayfield Gardner Minshew? Starting to accept the increasing possibility of Sam returning to start for one more season and/or the team moving up for a passer. If the Saints land Carr, Lamar stays in Bmore, Geno stays in Seattle, and JimmyG reunites with McDaniels that's going to leave Jacoby Brissett or back-ups Mayfield, White, Rush, and Minshew. Not exactly the most inspiring group... I think that if nobody trades up with Chicago for the #1 overall pick we could see Carolina make a move to slide up to #3 for whoever is left between Stroud and Young. If they're confident enough in their scouting + coaching, maybe they stay put and take who remains between Levis and Richardson. Phew... this offseason seems even more stressful than what we've experienced lately.
