  1. I will be much more at ease with the compensation if the team goes Young/Stroud @ #1 and best WR on the board @ #40
  2. Sounds like they've determined who the guy is Eager to see if it's going to be Young or Stroud. oh fug. I do not like that compensation. Whoever is #1 had better be able to elevate the offense around him
  3. Drive 1 Play 1: Run up the middle Play 2: Run up the middle Play 3: Pass for 1st down conversion on 3rd & 6 Play 4: Run up the middle Play 5: Pass to Kirkwood on a slant route, gets blown up and drops it Play 6: Pass that gets swatted down at the line after the DE beats the RT off of the snap Play 7: Punt Drive 2 Play 1: Pass attempt where Corral scrambles for no gain after Rivera decides to dial up the blitz in a preseason game against a 4th string QB that's been losing reps to a QB competition he's not a part of (the blitzing LB blew up the RB in pass pro) Play 2: Pass attempt that goes incomplete as Corral is forced to throw it away after keeping the play alive with his legs due to his LT being immediately beaten off of the snap with nobody open Play 3: Pass attempt that goes incomplete. Corral was being sacked at the time as Rivera had called another blitz and not only did the LB come through this time untouched, but both DEs cleanly beat the OTs. Play was dead before it even began. Play 4: Punt Drive 3 Play 1: Incomplete screen pass. Horrible throw by Corral here, all on him. Play 2: Corral scrambles to avoid getting sacked as the LT is completely destroyed by the DE once again (picture below) Play 3: Run for a decent gain and a 1st down on an RPO Play 4: Incomplete pass on an out route. Pass was high and could have been placed better, but an NFL TE should come down with that. Not entirely Corral, but he didn't exactly make it any better. Play 5: Incomplete pass as the WR stops his route instead of continuing to the open spot that Corral threw it to. Play 6: Corral sacked Rivera brings 6 on 3rd & 10. Deonte Brown missed bad on the blitzing LB that forced Corral to scramble into the pursuing arms of the DT. Play is saved by a penalty on Washington. Play 7: Run up the middle Play 8: Out route to a TE again, much better ball but the TE drops it because he's afraid to take the hit from the defender. Play 9: Play is called dead since Corral's helmet was ripped off by the DE that went right around the LT (sound familiar?). Rivera once again called a blitz, but the Panthers get the 1st down on the facemask call that puts them in FG range with under a minute remaining Play 10: Run Play 11: Run Play 12: Run Play 13: Game winning FG This was the scramble for 6yds that Corral had prior to the RPO that went for a chunk during the 3rd drive. I genuinely do not understand how folks can watch that preseason game vs. Washington and walk away thinking anything bad about Matt Corral. Don't get me wrong, it also isn't exactly a clear cut example that he should start this coming season but it does show that he played better than given credit (especially considering the circumstances). That OL he was behind was abysmal, and his receivers didn't do him any favors dropping passes or giving up on routes.
  4. Definitely didn't sound like an inside scoop as much as it was emphasizing getting rid players drafted under the last head coach. Will be interesting seeing how much of an influence Reich has on this draft class. We'll likely get a good idea in the future how much of the last two seasons was Rhule vs. Fitterer compared to what's been reported.
  5. A 2 hour old thread about Will Levis hate that's 5 pages long already? I'm going in. Pray for me.
  6. Jimmy G would be an excellent pick up if the team is still going run heavy. Would also allow the team to sit and wait to see what QB(s) fall to #9, if any.
  7. Excited to see this one. Do they talk about the late hit when Harper was still on the Saints?
  8. Would appreciate the veteran presence but also understand the business side of it. Lots of waiting and seeing atm.
  9. A QB being sacked three times a game on average with toe, shoulder, and finger injuries is probably going to show some questionable decision making, especially when he has no talent at other positions on the offense. Levis got sacked FIVE times by Vandy. Five. His first throw of the game was a throw away because the aforementioned RT got bull rushed immediately into his lap. His second pass attempt? His entire OL was in his lap off the snap. It's crazy to me that some people can dismiss that or pretend that the other top QBs were dealing with similar OL performances. Hell, even the Kentucky defense sucked. He had no help.
  10. Folks genuinely claiming that college production has no influence on how a prospect is viewed was a new level of crazy I wasn't prepared for.
  11. I've never consistently noticed a player perform as poorly as the Kentucky RT (#77?). It was malpractice letting him stay on the field. But you're absolutely right in that AR15's legs played a big role in keeping those sack totals low as he was pressured fairly often. Funny enough, Stroud on the other hand was rarely pressured but when he was he just kind of fell apart. That Georgia game was an anomaly compared with the rest of his 2022 tape. Even so, none of these prospects are going to be perfect. It's a big reason why I'm a proponent of chilling at #9 or moving up to #3 at the highest. Whatever happens though will happen and I'll cheer for whoever it is as loud as I would if it my favorite prospect still being available at #9.
  12. I spent an extraordinary amount of time during the college season (and holidays) watching QB prospects. In the case of some, like Bryce Young & CJ Stroud, I went back to a few games from the previous season. Now, I'm just another buffoon on the Huddle, but I've started going back and repeating the process with my old notes tucked away so as not to influence me (can't remember anything other than really enjoying watching Max Duggan play, so again, just another buffoon here). The tape shows that Will Levis was sabotaged by his team more than any other QB that I've watched this past season. Out of the other top 4 QBs, AR + Stroud's OLs gave up just 12 sacks. Bama's gave up 18. Kentucky? 33. And that's including 4 to Miami (OH), 4 to Florida, 5 to Northern Illinois (Kentucky's defense logged 0), 3 to Ole Miss, 4 to Tennessee, 5 to Mizzou, and 4 to Vanderbilt. Kentucky's OL gave up more sacks against Northern Illinois, Miami (OH), and Vandy than Florida and Ohio State gave up their entire seasons. The only game that the Kentucky OL didn't give up a sack was against Youngstown State. Considering that along with Levis being dinged up with a new OC... a lot of his struggles make sense. There's rough edges to be smoothed out with good coaching, sure, but the only prospect that doesn't require that is 5'11" 204lbs. That's not exactly something that they can be coached out of.
  13. Any chance we can get a peek at your top 5 LBs & TEs? Overall thoughts on both of those groups for this class as well?
  14. Great move for them and the Panthers. Gives the Seahawks flexibility at #5 and gives the Panthers a better shot at a QB. QB carousel picking up speed...
  15. Make sure you share that one on the main board when it does publish! I'll make sure to have some popcorn ready considering how some of the crowd might react.
  16. No clue. We'll see what the future holds. I'm just happy that we've got multiple paths to success. Some folks might feel otherwise, be it because there's a particular path they don't like or one that they're passionate about the team taking. Would rather enjoy the ride than gripe about thinks outside of my control.
  17. ngl, having those two draft-eligible next season makes the idea of rolling with Matt Corral and taking BPA at #9 (or trading back) just a palatable as trading up to #3 and grabbing one of the top 3 guys from this year
  18. If you had to compile these two lists (strictly based on how you view(ed) them as prospects, not considering the rookie seasons for those drafted last season), how would you arrange the 10 QBs listed in the OP?
  19. Simulation had Bryce Young go to DET @ #6 and Anthony Richardson to LV @ #7, so I traded back with DET for their #18, #55, and 2024 1st rounder so that they could select Joey Porter Jr. Traded back from #114 to #121 w/ JAX (who selected Cameron Latu, TE, Alabama) and picked up there #179 in the process. Was beyond stoked for LaPorta to still be available and immediately scooped him up and used #179 to get Luepke so that the team could have a guy that could play the FB/H-Back role and led Tremble stay on the line as a blocker or a receiving option. Moved back from #147 to #154 in a trade with Detroit where they also swapped #183 with #247. Then I went from #154 to #155 in a trade with IND. Tossed them #223 to get ARI's 2024 6th that the Colts had picked up in an earlier trade. They went with Roschon Johnson. I think I won out on that one. Riley Moss has been talked up since the middle of the season and had himself a great combine. Used the #183 pick from the Detroit trade on Ali Gaye as a late round flier on a pass rusher and #223 from JAX to at least try to get some LB depth. Anfernee Orji had some buzz during the season and played well in the Shrine Bowl.
  20. I appreciate you sharing these here still. Best of luck with everything.
  21. And there goes the first domino. Time to see where Rodgers and Jackson land now, as well as what Seattle decides to do with Geno.
  22. I'll take any of the top 4 tbh They all have knocks that we can harp on until the cows come home, but the truth of the matter is that any of the top 4 QBs make the Panthers' QB room better. Don't worry about moving up unless they're absolutely smitten by one QB in particular. Chill at #9 and if they're off the board, trade back or get a blue chip talent. Coaching has been upgraded nearly across the board. The offensive scheme and play-calling alone are going to make the Panthers offense better than it was last season. There's plenty of needs on both sides of the ball, and while a team does need a franchise QB in order to have consistent success in the NFL the other side to that is that the QB needs a competent team around them. Going to be an exciting offseason. The next few days are going to be insufferable as folks capitalize on the aftermath of the combine, but once free agency opens up and we start seeing dominoes fall there will hopefully be a little more clarity in the direction the teams will head in the draft.
  23. If there's a QB that the team loves still on the board at #3 then they've at least got to pick up the phone and see if something reasonable can be worked out. It has to be the guy though. Like, you're willing to bet your job him already type of belief in them. Otherwise, sit tight at #9 and see what's available.
