I'm guessing that Frank and the gang are looking at that UGA game as what he can be coached up to be. When the biggest knock on Stroud has been how he wilts under pressure, he went out against one of the best defenses in the country (with NFL talent littered across it) and put on his best performance yet. Following that up by putting on a show at the combine only solidified it further. Can't coach 5'10" up to 6'3"

So... you're looking to prove that you're right? The thread title says to help you understand, but based on this reply and other's that you have made in this thread I'm led to believe that you're just looking to argue.
-
Are you trying to understand the move, be convinced about it being beneficial, looking to vent, or just looking to prove that you're right?
-
Damn, the TE group just got leaps and bounds better. Wouldn't mind the team still looking at taking a TE in the draft with higher upside than running it back with Ian Thomas.
-
Really happy for Baker. Things didn't go well here, but he seemed to grow a lot as a professional during his struggles. Hope things work out for him in TB, so long as it means losing to the Panthers

Oh my damn All the offense needs now is a deep threat WR, Foreman or Williams to tote the rock, and the QB that the team selects at #1 overall aaaaahhhhhhh
-
Ngl was fretting a little bit over finding a capable mentor that isn't a coach for the rookie QB, but Dalton is an excellent choice to help the #1 overall pick learn how to be a pro.

How would you build the roster and draft?

In a way that would likely result in members of the Huddle calling me everything but a child of God -
On the surface, this assessment is accurate and scares the Hell out of me. However, none of those guys are the athletes that CJ is. None of them can move like him. His acceleration seems to require some time, but he can move a lot better than those other guys. My hope is that if he's the guy that Frank and co. can coach him up to play like he did vs. UGA.

Tony Pauline: CJ Stroud or Anthony Richardson
Icege replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If they believe that AR-15 is the guy and can convince Houston or Indy to swap with them and regain some lost assets... -
Shaq staying means that armchair capologists are having an aneurysm which makes it even more awesome

The narrative here was that DJ wasn't a bona-fide WR1. Playing semantics and trying to make it seem like it's about being elite is disingenuous, especially when being a true WR1 in the NFL is an elite status.
-
It is hilarious that the football world acknowledges how solid DJ is yet we still have fans that think he's at best a WR2. Gotta admire the commitment by some folks. It's a commitment to stupidity, but it's a commitment nonetheless.

Love to see it.

Corral bros.... what do we do now?????
Icege replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Always good to have another capable QB on the roster with a 17-game season. Even better if the pick is Bryce Young and he has trouble holding up or even if it's CJ and he ends up not able to take NFL hits despite being bigger. -
W/o the Georgia game, I think he's the clear #2 QB behind Bryce Young. With it and Bryce's size, there's a big time argument to go with CJ instead. Knock on CJ was that he didn't handle pressure well and broke down when having to move. Didn't see that vs Georgia, so it's possible he can be coached up? Bryce's issue is his frame. That can't be coached up.

A Quantitative Analysis of the Panthers-Bears Trade
Icege replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mathematically, the trade is incredibly fair. The onus now is on the scouting process to put the team in the best position to hit on #1. Landing a franchise QB alone makes the picks worth it. If they can also hit on finding a replacement for DJ then the team only improved from this. This team is a playoff team with Bryce Young or CJ Stroud and the current coaching staff. They were almost there with Wilks and the shell of Rhule's regime and Sam Darnold. A postseason for the rookie QB makes that future 1st a non-issue imo, as well as the future 2nd should they ball out that year as well. Going to be interesting seeing a team eager to win now. It's been awhile... incoming back-to-back winning seasons finally? -
Joe Person: Sense around the league is they’re going up for CJ Stroud
Icege replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
What an exciting time to be a fan. The OL is in place once Bozeman resigns. The coaching staff is offensive-minded and stocked with some of the best young assistants in the game currently on both sides of the ball. A QB is on the way. The defense needs depth and a couple of positions but looks ready to roll. A young WR + TE to grow with the new franchise QB can be taken in the 2nd + 3rd rounds of this upcoming draft. What a ride... and it's not over yet! What if Houston scoots up to #1 overall and Carolina recoups some of those assets traded to Chicago while still landing a franchise QB? -
1. Young or Stroud 39. Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee 93. Sam LePorta, TE, Iowa
-
This After the initial "CHANGE IS BAD, NOT MY DJ" there's a LOT to like about this trade if it hits. Franchise QB paired with a WR/TE. Still got selections to grab pieces for the defense, and only lost one future 1st in it. Lost a future 2nd as well, but that's two years off and easier to absorb if we nail this draft. Hold on to your butts.
