Any chance we can get a peek at your top 5 LBs & TEs? Overall thoughts on both of those groups for this class as well?
-
Make sure you share that one on the main board when it does publish! I'll make sure to have some popcorn ready considering how some of the crowd might react.

No clue. We'll see what the future holds. I'm just happy that we've got multiple paths to success. Some folks might feel otherwise, be it because there's a particular path they don't like or one that they're passionate about the team taking. Would rather enjoy the ride than gripe about thinks outside of my control.

ngl, having those two draft-eligible next season makes the idea of rolling with Matt Corral and taking BPA at #9 (or trading back) just a palatable as trading up to #3 and grabbing one of the top 3 guys from this year
-
If you had to compile these two lists (strictly based on how you view(ed) them as prospects, not considering the rookie seasons for those drafted last season), how would you arrange the 10 QBs listed in the OP?

Simulation had Bryce Young go to DET @ #6 and Anthony Richardson to LV @ #7, so I traded back with DET for their #18, #55, and 2024 1st rounder so that they could select Joey Porter Jr. Traded back from #114 to #121 w/ JAX (who selected Cameron Latu, TE, Alabama) and picked up there #179 in the process. Was beyond stoked for LaPorta to still be available and immediately scooped him up and used #179 to get Luepke so that the team could have a guy that could play the FB/H-Back role and led Tremble stay on the line as a blocker or a receiving option. Moved back from #147 to #154 in a trade with Detroit where they also swapped #183 with #247. Then I went from #154 to #155 in a trade with IND. Tossed them #223 to get ARI's 2024 6th that the Colts had picked up in an earlier trade. They went with Roschon Johnson. I think I won out on that one. Riley Moss has been talked up since the middle of the season and had himself a great combine. Used the #183 pick from the Detroit trade on Ali Gaye as a late round flier on a pass rusher and #223 from JAX to at least try to get some LB depth. Anfernee Orji had some buzz during the season and played well in the Shrine Bowl.

I appreciate you sharing these here still. Best of luck with everything.

And there goes the first domino. Time to see where Rodgers and Jackson land now, as well as what Seattle decides to do with Geno.

I'll take any of the top 4 tbh They all have knocks that we can harp on until the cows come home, but the truth of the matter is that any of the top 4 QBs make the Panthers' QB room better. Don't worry about moving up unless they're absolutely smitten by one QB in particular. Chill at #9 and if they're off the board, trade back or get a blue chip talent. Coaching has been upgraded nearly across the board. The offensive scheme and play-calling alone are going to make the Panthers offense better than it was last season. There's plenty of needs on both sides of the ball, and while a team does need a franchise QB in order to have consistent success in the NFL the other side to that is that the QB needs a competent team around them. Going to be an exciting offseason. The next few days are going to be insufferable as folks capitalize on the aftermath of the combine, but once free agency opens up and we start seeing dominoes fall there will hopefully be a little more clarity in the direction the teams will head in the draft.

If there's a QB that the team loves still on the board at #3 then they've at least got to pick up the phone and see if something reasonable can be worked out. It has to be the guy though. Like, you're willing to bet your job him already type of belief in them. Otherwise, sit tight at #9 and see what's available.

lmao fug that

I'm in complete agreement with Ballard: There's got to be a guy worthy of moving up Doesn't think that a team has to trade up to get it right. "Not in the right course of business." Understands that there's got to be a narrative to keep the news going, so everybody is going to think that a trade up has to happen If the staff gets together and thinks it's the guy for the next 10yrs, then yea, trade up, but who's to say they won't get one at #4? McAfee paraphrasing Chris Ballard: "Who says we might not trade back? I mean fug, listen, I'm tired. You guys gotta write what you gotta write, ok? I'm here to tell you your fuging wrong and you've never drafted ever before."

If anything, it shows how abysmal of a play-caller Ben McAdoo is. The team goes run heavy with 2 TEs in to block and yet they never get them involved outside of the random drive where for whatever reason the ball gets forced to Ian Thomas a couple of times for a quick three and out -_-

Per Matt Miller.. Panthers all in on Richardson?
Icege replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
No argument here. Personally, I'm not a fan of the "if he can do it, he can do it" mentality simply because I acknowledge that there are exceptions to the rules now and then. We'll be a better team with either of them though. It's one of the reasons why I haven't been nearly as obsessed with the prospects this upcoming draft: the team is in a good position to make a move or stay put and still get a quality player that will improve the roster. -

You're more than welcome to feel that way, but the truth of the matter is that college production does matter when scouting a prospect. Traits are what are emphasized, absolutely, but they also need to see how those traits have been utilized. It's why scouts had no issue realizing Herbert's arm strength despte the system he was in. Production is also why Jalen Hurts got selected in the 2nd round instead of falling to the 3rd or 4th. -

College production absolutely matters when it comes to scouting a prospect. If you've got a guy with all of the tools that was never able to get the results, then that's a possible red flag that requires more digging by the scouting department. Was he limited due to the system? Was he coached to do things a particular way? etc. -

This. Stroud's performance vs. Georgia was impressive and likely the best of his career, but anybody that put in time watching the rest of his games know that that was not who he has been. He's always been talked up as somebody that's incredibly clean and efficient with a clean pocket and talented weapons, which is true but when he has to move off platform his accuracy and decision-making crater. That's one of the things that makes Mahomes the best currently: his ability to deliver the ball from different angles while on the move. Having said that, the scouting community has a saying: if he can do it once, he can do it. If the coaching staff can get him to that Georgia game level on a consistent basis, then he's got to be on the big board. -
I know some folks here might feel otherwise, but Matt Corral only getting 31 snaps in the preseason last year while being the forgotten child behind Baker & Sam's QB competition (and the 4th string OL) is not enough of a sample size to say that it's a wrap. Sure, we can assume that because there's a new coaching staff that they're going to want a different guy but this is also the same GM that moved up to draft him. That requires equal consideration. If anything, the fact that Corral was traded up for last year does give the team some flexibility at #9. They don't have to move up unless they fall in love with one of this year's prospects, and if those prospects are gone by the time the Panthers select they can still get a top 10 (possibly top 5!) player or move back if any teams are interested in coming up. That's a good thing.

I put this in one of the other threads, but it's more appropriate here... DBs I'm watching today when able: Brian Branch, Christian Gonzalez, Joey Porter Jr, Devon Witherspoon, Tre'Vious Hodges-Tomlinson, Garrett Williams, Riley Moss, Darrell Lutter Jr, Jaylon Jones, Kyu Blu Kelly, Ji'Ayir Brown, Sydney Brown, and Trey Dean III Dean III did well at the Senior Bowl iirc (or was it the Shrine Bowl?). Very interested to see if he builds off of that performance.

You were also high on Zach Wilson and have been low on Jalen Hurts.

Considering your history with QB evals, this means he's destined to be the next Brady
