  1. On the surface, this assessment is accurate and scares the Hell out of me. However, none of those guys are the athletes that CJ is. None of them can move like him. His acceleration seems to require some time, but he can move a lot better than those other guys. My hope is that if he's the guy that Frank and co. can coach him up to play like he did vs. UGA.
  2. If they believe that AR-15 is the guy and can convince Houston or Indy to swap with them and regain some lost assets...
  3. Shaq staying means that armchair capologists are having an aneurysm which makes it even more awesome
  4. The narrative here was that DJ wasn't a bona-fide WR1. Playing semantics and trying to make it seem like it's about being elite is disingenuous, especially when being a true WR1 in the NFL is an elite status.
  5. It is hilarious that the football world acknowledges how solid DJ is yet we still have fans that think he's at best a WR2. Gotta admire the commitment by some folks. It's a commitment to stupidity, but it's a commitment nonetheless.
  6. Always good to have another capable QB on the roster with a 17-game season. Even better if the pick is Bryce Young and he has trouble holding up or even if it's CJ and he ends up not able to take NFL hits despite being bigger.
  7. W/o the Georgia game, I think he's the clear #2 QB behind Bryce Young. With it and Bryce's size, there's a big time argument to go with CJ instead. Knock on CJ was that he didn't handle pressure well and broke down when having to move. Didn't see that vs Georgia, so it's possible he can be coached up? Bryce's issue is his frame. That can't be coached up.
  8. Mathematically, the trade is incredibly fair. The onus now is on the scouting process to put the team in the best position to hit on #1. Landing a franchise QB alone makes the picks worth it. If they can also hit on finding a replacement for DJ then the team only improved from this. This team is a playoff team with Bryce Young or CJ Stroud and the current coaching staff. They were almost there with Wilks and the shell of Rhule's regime and Sam Darnold. A postseason for the rookie QB makes that future 1st a non-issue imo, as well as the future 2nd should they ball out that year as well. Going to be interesting seeing a team eager to win now. It's been awhile... incoming back-to-back winning seasons finally?
  9. What an exciting time to be a fan. The OL is in place once Bozeman resigns. The coaching staff is offensive-minded and stocked with some of the best young assistants in the game currently on both sides of the ball. A QB is on the way. The defense needs depth and a couple of positions but looks ready to roll. A young WR + TE to grow with the new franchise QB can be taken in the 2nd + 3rd rounds of this upcoming draft. What a ride... and it's not over yet! What if Houston scoots up to #1 overall and Carolina recoups some of those assets traded to Chicago while still landing a franchise QB?
  10. If Fitterer swaps with Houston for their 65th pick + a 2024 2nd rounder to recoup what was lost moving up to #1 I will fuging cackle.
  11. 1. Young or Stroud 39. Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee 93. Sam LePorta, TE, Iowa
  12. This After the initial "CHANGE IS BAD, NOT MY DJ" there's a LOT to like about this trade if it hits. Franchise QB paired with a WR/TE. Still got selections to grab pieces for the defense, and only lost one future 1st in it. Lost a future 2nd as well, but that's two years off and easier to absorb if we nail this draft. Hold on to your butts.
  13. I will be much more at ease with the compensation if the team goes Young/Stroud @ #1 and best WR on the board @ #40
  14. Sounds like they've determined who the guy is Eager to see if it's going to be Young or Stroud. oh fug. I do not like that compensation. Whoever is #1 had better be able to elevate the offense around him
  15. Drive 1 Play 1: Run up the middle Play 2: Run up the middle Play 3: Pass for 1st down conversion on 3rd & 6 Play 4: Run up the middle Play 5: Pass to Kirkwood on a slant route, gets blown up and drops it Play 6: Pass that gets swatted down at the line after the DE beats the RT off of the snap Play 7: Punt Drive 2 Play 1: Pass attempt where Corral scrambles for no gain after Rivera decides to dial up the blitz in a preseason game against a 4th string QB that's been losing reps to a QB competition he's not a part of (the blitzing LB blew up the RB in pass pro) Play 2: Pass attempt that goes incomplete as Corral is forced to throw it away after keeping the play alive with his legs due to his LT being immediately beaten off of the snap with nobody open Play 3: Pass attempt that goes incomplete. Corral was being sacked at the time as Rivera had called another blitz and not only did the LB come through this time untouched, but both DEs cleanly beat the OTs. Play was dead before it even began. Play 4: Punt Drive 3 Play 1: Incomplete screen pass. Horrible throw by Corral here, all on him. Play 2: Corral scrambles to avoid getting sacked as the LT is completely destroyed by the DE once again (picture below) Play 3: Run for a decent gain and a 1st down on an RPO Play 4: Incomplete pass on an out route. Pass was high and could have been placed better, but an NFL TE should come down with that. Not entirely Corral, but he didn't exactly make it any better. Play 5: Incomplete pass as the WR stops his route instead of continuing to the open spot that Corral threw it to. Play 6: Corral sacked Rivera brings 6 on 3rd & 10. Deonte Brown missed bad on the blitzing LB that forced Corral to scramble into the pursuing arms of the DT. Play is saved by a penalty on Washington. Play 7: Run up the middle Play 8: Out route to a TE again, much better ball but the TE drops it because he's afraid to take the hit from the defender. Play 9: Play is called dead since Corral's helmet was ripped off by the DE that went right around the LT (sound familiar?). Rivera once again called a blitz, but the Panthers get the 1st down on the facemask call that puts them in FG range with under a minute remaining Play 10: Run Play 11: Run Play 12: Run Play 13: Game winning FG This was the scramble for 6yds that Corral had prior to the RPO that went for a chunk during the 3rd drive. I genuinely do not understand how folks can watch that preseason game vs. Washington and walk away thinking anything bad about Matt Corral. Don't get me wrong, it also isn't exactly a clear cut example that he should start this coming season but it does show that he played better than given credit (especially considering the circumstances). That OL he was behind was abysmal, and his receivers didn't do him any favors dropping passes or giving up on routes.
  16. Definitely didn't sound like an inside scoop as much as it was emphasizing getting rid players drafted under the last head coach. Will be interesting seeing how much of an influence Reich has on this draft class. We'll likely get a good idea in the future how much of the last two seasons was Rhule vs. Fitterer compared to what's been reported.
  17. A 2 hour old thread about Will Levis hate that's 5 pages long already? I'm going in. Pray for me.
  18. Jimmy G would be an excellent pick up if the team is still going run heavy. Would also allow the team to sit and wait to see what QB(s) fall to #9, if any.
  19. Excited to see this one. Do they talk about the late hit when Harper was still on the Saints?
  20. Would appreciate the veteran presence but also understand the business side of it. Lots of waiting and seeing atm.
  21. A QB being sacked three times a game on average with toe, shoulder, and finger injuries is probably going to show some questionable decision making, especially when he has no talent at other positions on the offense. Levis got sacked FIVE times by Vandy. Five. His first throw of the game was a throw away because the aforementioned RT got bull rushed immediately into his lap. His second pass attempt? His entire OL was in his lap off the snap. It's crazy to me that some people can dismiss that or pretend that the other top QBs were dealing with similar OL performances. Hell, even the Kentucky defense sucked. He had no help.
  22. Folks genuinely claiming that college production has no influence on how a prospect is viewed was a new level of crazy I wasn't prepared for.
  23. I've never consistently noticed a player perform as poorly as the Kentucky RT (#77?). It was malpractice letting him stay on the field. But you're absolutely right in that AR15's legs played a big role in keeping those sack totals low as he was pressured fairly often. Funny enough, Stroud on the other hand was rarely pressured but when he was he just kind of fell apart. That Georgia game was an anomaly compared with the rest of his 2022 tape. Even so, none of these prospects are going to be perfect. It's a big reason why I'm a proponent of chilling at #9 or moving up to #3 at the highest. Whatever happens though will happen and I'll cheer for whoever it is as loud as I would if it my favorite prospect still being available at #9.
  24. I spent an extraordinary amount of time during the college season (and holidays) watching QB prospects. In the case of some, like Bryce Young & CJ Stroud, I went back to a few games from the previous season. Now, I'm just another buffoon on the Huddle, but I've started going back and repeating the process with my old notes tucked away so as not to influence me (can't remember anything other than really enjoying watching Max Duggan play, so again, just another buffoon here). The tape shows that Will Levis was sabotaged by his team more than any other QB that I've watched this past season. Out of the other top 4 QBs, AR + Stroud's OLs gave up just 12 sacks. Bama's gave up 18. Kentucky? 33. And that's including 4 to Miami (OH), 4 to Florida, 5 to Northern Illinois (Kentucky's defense logged 0), 3 to Ole Miss, 4 to Tennessee, 5 to Mizzou, and 4 to Vanderbilt. Kentucky's OL gave up more sacks against Northern Illinois, Miami (OH), and Vandy than Florida and Ohio State gave up their entire seasons. The only game that the Kentucky OL didn't give up a sack was against Youngstown State. Considering that along with Levis being dinged up with a new OC... a lot of his struggles make sense. There's rough edges to be smoothed out with good coaching, sure, but the only prospect that doesn't require that is 5'11" 204lbs. That's not exactly something that they can be coached out of.
