Yall do know that Vark is a Florida homer, right? Every single one of these articles blasts the OL with the exception of lazy blurbs written from statline lurking. Did you read them before sharing?

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same Brian Burns re: run defense. The Brian Burns I'm talking about is the football player that was #7 in the league for TFLs while also racking up 12.5 sacks in a college defense.
-
Going to need some more beef on the defensive line with Derrick Brown. If Tuttle, McCall, or Williams steps up that'd be a huge boost. Frankie and Shaq looked great at ILB. Put Burns and Houston on the outside instead of giving YGM all of the chances in the world to do nothing while Chinn is roaming wherever they put him and that run defense instantly looks better.

Definitely looked like a guy that hadn't played football in over a year while being stuck behind OLs that couldn't pass protect. He didn't look helpless though, so that's a plus. He also never gave up. A big part of his game that's missing is the mental side (progressions, staying calm, etc) which Bryce is already doing as advertised. Corral is going to have a stronger arm and better athleticism, but that stuff won't matter if he's going to be inaccurate and panicked.

Who impressed and who sucked - preseason game 1
Icege replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The defense impressed me despite the scoreboard and vanilla game plan. Uce, Shaq, DBrown, and Kamu are all ready to go. Barno + Williams popped up a couple of times last night while Rowe, Franklin Jr, and Henderson all flashed. The offensive line was abysmal. I'm especially disappointed in Icky's play. I'm also worried/concerned over Michael Jordan still being on the roster. There is also ZERO depth behind Icky & Moton rn so it's going to be vital to the team's success that those two remain healthy and not have bad days like the recent one. -
Some of the people in this thread that regularly comment on QB evaluations have done everything they can to make sure that they're ignored going forward.

Rough stat, even for a preseason game

This should be the move.

Them stunting is to generate pressure. Bryce holding on to the ball for something to open up downfield allows those stunts to develop and might be a viable strategy to be used against him if his college game translates to the pros. The comparison to the roughing the passer penalties vs. Cam is how defenses might be okay with taking a war of attrition approach by stacking hits over the course of the game. Hard to do when a QB always gets the ball out quickly, but if they're willing to extend the play there's a lot more opportunities to brutalize them. Hopefully that clarifies what I meant a little better than I originally worded. Did not intend to imply that Bryce holding on to the ball was why pressure were happening. It was only to point out that because he'll let things develop that defenses will be able to take those opportunities on obvious passing downs.

This was something that caught my eye early (Jets and stunting DL) and was excited to see how Campen would coach the OL up to handle it going forward. The league is a copycat league, and the Jets showed success early on using stunts to get to Bryce. It looks like teams are content to use stunts to whack Bryce as he holds on to the ball in the same way they were okay with defenders "risking" roughing the passer penalties against Cam. Very eager to see how Reich, Caldwell, Brown, McCown, and Campen address that, especially if we see more of it in the next preseason game. I could see teams using stunts to create pressure up the middle so that Bryce is unable to step up like we would scream for the Panthers' defense to do vs. Brees.

My brother in Christ, how does this man continue to still get chances to get QBs murdered
-
How feel you?
-
I... I feel weird. The team got shut out, but I'm giddy because this gives the coaching staff plenty of tape to go back and work the players through during the preseason so that we don't see it during the regular season. Can't wait for next week to see how the players respond.

Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Michael Jordan is still here because of Scott Fitterer I will agree with every bad thing said about him (Scott).

Looks like it's Frank for the time being, but better get ready for it to be Thomas. Vrabel is giving assistants an opportunity to shine and it can only be a good thing. Hopefully Frank does the same. https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/gm-report/reich-to-pass-off-play-calling-duties-to-thomas-brown-at-some-point

JD DiRenzo got put on his ass

Kind of wild that even after all of this the Jets are only up 6-0 with 4min left in the half. Let's see what Thomas Brown has for a preseason 4min offense.
-
It's kind of funny that the current storylines for the Jets revolve around their need for help on the offensive line and questions surrounding Zach Wilson's role with the team outside of "Aaron Rodgers' back-up." There should be more noise made about the defensive depth that the Jets are fielding this season. Behind starters Carl Lawson and John Franklin-Myers are 2022 + 2023 1st round picks Jermaine Johnson II and Will McDonald IV. CJ Mosley's back-up, 3rd round LB out of UNC Chazz Surratt, made splash plays throughout the Hall of Fame game. 2023 UDFA Trey Dean III, a safety out of Florida, as of last week was leading the team in tackles. This will be a test for the offensive line without a doubt, and it has been. However, after Icky got baptized by Von Miller last season only to turn into one of the best starting LTs in the league, I'm confident that Campen is gonna get these dudes whooped into shape.

If Erving, Jordan, and Tecklenburg are all blocking for Corral I'm going to go ahead and just assume that he's not going to live to see tomorrow.
-
Barno is popping today like he needs to after a relatively quiet summer. That competition for EDGE depth will hopefully get us fans some sharpened iron to enjoy watching.
-
Fingers crossed that Zavala can be ready to go until Corbett's healed up.

ngl, I feel some type of way having Bryce out there with Jordan on the field.
