Ramblin' Wreck!

A lot of fans would be relieved, but there are a few (especially here on the Huddle) that would probably set their scooters on fire if the team has any success with Bryce as the QB.

BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard
Icege replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hell yea Chuba! Glad to see the team retaining talent instead of training players for other squads. Solid deal too. Will be nice having a 1-2 punch with him and Brooks. In today's NFL (and with the possibility of an 18-game season in the near future) it's going to be even more important for teams to have two capable RBs on the roster. -
As fans have we unanimously concluded that Bryce Young IS THE PROBLEM

Then why was 5'11" 206lbs Russell Wilson one of the better deep ball throwers if the height/weight are playing as much of an influence on the arm as being proposed? I'm not buying that being 1" shorter than Russell Wilson and 5lbs lighter than Baker Mayfield is why Bryce can't be a QB in the NFL. Yea, he needs to sit and reset for sure; preferably, for the rest of the season until the team knows whether or not it's in the postseason. I'll buy that and then some. But in a season where we're seeing Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, Justin Fields, and Malik Willis make it work after folks had already written them off it is certifiably insane to comfortably assume that Bryce's career is done. -

And there's where the good faith argument ceases because reality is denied: He officially weighed in at 204lbs at the combine. If you want to believe what some AFC executive said because it fits your narrative, that's your decision to go with your feelings on. I'm going with what the scale said in Indy before he was drafted along with the fact that most guys put on weight after being in the league. The concern with Bryce was that he wouldn't be able to put much more on, so he wasn't going to walk around @ 220lbs. So again, we're looking at a 5lbs difference here and according to you that means he'll never be able to compete in the NFL. That just doesn't make any rational sense. -

It's going to be very, very interesting seeing how the grades for this year's QB class shake out. I can't help but believe that a quality guy is going to get a mid-round grade that'll make them a possible steal. -

Serious as a heart attack. 6'1" 209lbs vs. 5'10" 205lbs. We're talking a five pound difference here. Also, from Baker's NFL.com scouting report... It's completely okay to not like the kid and have your opinion of him. It's beyond dishonest though to sit here and pretend that 3" and 5lbs are the only thing separating Bryce from being an NFL-caliber QB in a year or two. He's been bad, yea, but again, we're seeing guys this year take off that have been written off for a looong time (and were Panthers recently!). -

Baker is 6'1" 209lbs. What are his physical tools? -

Kid was definitely the problem for the first two weeks this season, but with Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield out there doing well I'm surprised by the confidence some fans have declaring Bryce's NFL career over. Then again, the same folks declaring his career over also blamed him for the OL not blocking last season and the WRs not getting separation so I guess it shouldn't be surprising. -
Not a terrible list. Not exactly the best, but not bad at all imo: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/_/year/2025/position/edge/type/ufa/sort/contract_value

I see only 1 deep pass since we were told that only 40+ yards count In all seriousness tho, Dalton's been slinging it. He's let a couple of the short throws get away from him but he wasn't lying when he said he was playing more loose than he ever has. Gotta think that he's having himself a lot of fun this season so far.

I don't agree with the incredibly unrealistic expectations some fans might have. The defense ended up being without more than half of its starters that they were looking at leading into the offseason (Derrick Brown, Shy Tuttle, DJ Wonnum, Shaq Thompson, Josey Jewell, Jordan Fuller, Dane Jackson). To make up for it, Evero is leaning heavily on the bend but don't break philosophy. That side of the ball could definitely use more talent. The way they've performed with the secondary and pass rush in flux the way it has has been impressive to me. They've been starting games with solid energy but you can tell they're worn down even with the offense starting to hum. Depth is being tested early... but hopefully that means getting all of these guys back from injury will help with the talent level.

There are a LOT of quality edge rushers set to be UFAs next season. As much as I want to spend a high draft pick on a pass rusher I also would prefer that the team sign and start a vet that's proven in the league. Not exactly a fan of "draft a rookie to save this part of the team" mentality that has taken hold the last few seasons. If the team can pick up a vet EDGE and draft a high ceiling prospect... yes pls!

He's the swing tackle. Canales mentioned wanting him to stick to one position, so it sounds like they're keeping him at tackle.
