The convo that I am trying to have is that in a game where the opponent could not stop the run what is the appropriate passing yardage for the QB? I've seen plenty of folks denigrate the stat line and understand that nothing in this universe will ever get them to be okay with Bryce because of his physical attributes, but I'm not interested in changing minds. I just want to know what the threshold for passing yardage was for a QB who's run game was dominating. If the number is too low then what would make it right? Otherwise, we are drawing subjective conclusions (ie: winning in spite of Bryce) rather than objective ones.

That's one way to look at it, but the common complaint has been that he threw for only 126yds in a win. With that being the case, what was the stat line that people wanted to see from a game where the run was doing work?

What was the yardage that Bryce was supposed to throw for when the team is up 10-0 at the half thanks to Chuba's 93 rushing yards? Genuinely curious as to why people think that a team winning on the ground needs to abandon the run.

He's been fairly consistent about not naming the starter until late to keep a competitive advantage + evaluate practice reps. Kind of weird that folks are upset about Canales making Bryce earn starts after all of the butthurt over him being "handed" the job his rookie season.

Yes all day to Jalon Walker. Instantly makes the pass rush better and can drop back into coverage? Yes pls.

aside from the chiefs, what other games do you see us winning this year?

Bucs lost Tristan Wirfs today to an MCL sprain. Could be big when it comes to playing against them twice to finish up the season. Cowboys lost Dak for the season and are going through it. Could steal that. Chiefs and Eagles will be a great test for the young guys to show them where they're currently at versus the big dawgs. I have no idea what to expect vs. Zona. -
There are some fans that are convinced that Bryce does not have the potential to be an NFL QB that go above and beyond to downplay anything positive he does. They're the same ones that were rolling their eyes at Bryce having under 100yds passing during the second half despite the fact that the Giants were getting their asses kicked in the run game. People like that will do anything they can do to feel like their misery is justified and not that they're... well... just miserable people themselves. Thankfully, there are a lot more fans that understandably just want to see some competent football before risking being excited for the team again.

If we're going to count the pick against XL last week as an INT, then we're counting today as a GWD.

No. Stop being happy. Winning is bad. We're supposed to be miserable and making mistakes trying to play moneyball!!! /s Fun win for the team. Chuba played his ass off today and the OL held up. Had some ugly drops take place but hopefully that can be worked out. DJ Wonnum's impact on the field was a lot bigger than I expected. Frustrating to think about how this defense would've looked with DB, Wonnum, Shaq, and Dane Jackson all being healthy at the same time. Wallace has made losing Shaq sting less, but man it's sucked seeing the DL, EDGE, and CB groups churn the way they have.

A lot of fans would be relieved, but there are a few (especially here on the Huddle) that would probably set their scooters on fire if the team has any success with Bryce as the QB.

BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard
Icege replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hell yea Chuba! Glad to see the team retaining talent instead of training players for other squads. Solid deal too. Will be nice having a 1-2 punch with him and Brooks. In today's NFL (and with the possibility of an 18-game season in the near future) it's going to be even more important for teams to have two capable RBs on the roster. -
As fans have we unanimously concluded that Bryce Young IS THE PROBLEM

Then why was 5'11" 206lbs Russell Wilson one of the better deep ball throwers if the height/weight are playing as much of an influence on the arm as being proposed? I'm not buying that being 1" shorter than Russell Wilson and 5lbs lighter than Baker Mayfield is why Bryce can't be a QB in the NFL. Yea, he needs to sit and reset for sure; preferably, for the rest of the season until the team knows whether or not it's in the postseason. I'll buy that and then some. But in a season where we're seeing Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, Justin Fields, and Malik Willis make it work after folks had already written them off it is certifiably insane to comfortably assume that Bryce's career is done. -

And there's where the good faith argument ceases because reality is denied: He officially weighed in at 204lbs at the combine. If you want to believe what some AFC executive said because it fits your narrative, that's your decision to go with your feelings on. I'm going with what the scale said in Indy before he was drafted along with the fact that most guys put on weight after being in the league. The concern with Bryce was that he wouldn't be able to put much more on, so he wasn't going to walk around @ 220lbs. So again, we're looking at a 5lbs difference here and according to you that means he'll never be able to compete in the NFL. That just doesn't make any rational sense.
