I wonder if Jonathan Cooley would follow Evero. I really enjoyed the interview that he did with Jourdan Rodrigue back in August. You could tell right away that he's an effective communicator and teacher with not only his ability to clearly convey message/scheme to but also his ability to connect with and understand players. I especially appreciated his focus on maintaining his players' confidence by rewarding effort and giving them room for failure. Links below for anyone interested. It's ~45min but it's also an easy listen!: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2PQRcDQv7HncCoxtMFxnsE

Damn, that'd be a steal for the Ravens. Diontae AND Daniel signed as depth pieces for the postseason run only to let them walk for comp picks afterwards? Rich getting richer.

Obligatory Carolina vs Kansas city BBQ thread..
Icege replied to Jackson113.2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Heinz mustard is ass trash, but some good stone ground or spicy mustard HITS. When people enjoy mustard BBQ it's one of the few times that the world experiences peace and joy. -
Pantherscord member that used to post breakdowns here (can't remember their username on the Huddle) made an interesting point: Signing Jones and then letting him walk at the end of the season could potentially lead to another comp pick...

Serious Thoughts Fellas What numbers would Bryce..
Icege replied to trucpfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Speaking only for myself, I think that Bryce just needs time behind a competent OL (which he has gotten this season) with NFL-caliber weapons (debatable, but they're definitely improved from last season). He's got the skillset required, just not the height desired. If JT continues to ascend at the TE position then that will help a ton with playing off of the run game. What does the team need? Defense, defense, defense. It's hard for an offense led by a young QB to constantly be playing catch up (especially last season with a bottom 5 OL and bottom 5 weapons). This season through ten games, the defense has held opponents to under 20 points just once and that was against the Daniel Jones-led Giants. To put in perspective how bad that is... Bryce has put up 20+ points twice in five games. That says a lot about the way the defense has performed. -
Starting to feel that way myself... Schoen is definitely gone seeing as he chose to pay Jones and let Barkley walk. He might have been able to survive, but then Daboll BURIED Jones all the way down to 4th string behind Tim Boyle. I'm surprised that Daboll didn't poo in Jones' locker while he was packing it up at this point because good lord did he make his disdain obvious this week.

Serious Thoughts Fellas What numbers would Bryce..

Agreed. A healthy bit from column A (stats) and column B (film) paints the most accurate picture, which is currently that Bryce is not performing up to the standard a 1st round QB (let alone drafted #1 overall) is expected to (statistically). When we dig into the film to see why, we see that while he's having his struggles (not stepping up in the pocket, bailing out early, hesitating on some throws, making occasional bad reads, etc) the team that surrounded him last season was simply awful. Bottom 5 defense, bottom 5 OL, bottom 5 weapons... but somehow one player has to overcome ALL of that in their rookie season? Yeesh... Taking this season into consideration, he started where he left off last season and was rightfully benched. Since starting again, the team has gotten on its first winning streak in a few years and he's made good plays to keep them in the game. Is he lighting it up? Nah... but he is beginning to show the reason so many draftniks had him as QB1a for his class. Re: what the team does next season... who friggin knows anymore at this point T_T. Resign Dalton? Sign Jones? Draft somebody in the mid-to-late rounds? Go with another UFA? Maybe grab an FA that can compete with Bryce for the starting position and draft a rookie to sit and develop? Might be best of both worlds for the team, but ugh... not a fun position to still be in with question marks throughout the position group. -

This has been asked multiple times throughout the season... Most of the reasonable fans frustrated by Bryce's performance just want to see him string together consecutive performances as well as be who uplifts the team when they're struggling sometimes. However, when it comes to the folks that seem to hate him, they're never going to be happy. That's why they won't say what their threshold is... because it doesn't exist. Instead it's, "Oh, I know he'll never hit 4000yds, 40+ TDs, under 5 INTs, and a winning Powerball ticket... But I know the future and that he'll never do that so tank tank tank." -
The Huddle would have me believe that Jones is our next franchise QB because he's 6'5"

Eager to get a sneak peek at Brooks! I'm not expecting him to set the world on fire, but any positives he shows before getting a full NFL offseason complete with strength & conditioning (rather than spending the offseason having to rehab his knee) will be more than welcomed. Fingers crossed we get to see his vision effectively utilized as that was one of his major strengths as a prospect.

Holy poo If the Giants don't look completely different with DeVito back under center I can see the Maras cleaning house. Did not expect a release this late in the season... but given how they buried him all the way down to the 4th string I'm not surprised that he requested it.

One has a proven, offensive-minded, Super Bowl winning head coach along with a top 5 OL + defense. He's being protected and getting the ball back not having to chase the other teams. The other had Frank Reich + Thomas Brown their rookie year with a bottom 5 defense as well as a bottom 5 OL that gave up the 2nd most sacks against a rookie QB ever. The sophomore season is being ran with a top 5 OL but also with a rookie HC (that has just one year of OC experience) and a bottom 5 defense still. The Broncos defense has allowed over 20pts just three times this season (26 vs. SEA (L), 23 vs. LAC (L), 41 vs. BAL (L)). Meanwhile, the Panthers have had ONE game where the defense gave up less than 20pts (vs. NYG (W)). I'm not sure how folks couldn't expect Bo Nix to statistically perform better given their incredibly different situations. With that said, I didn't expect Nix to keep ascending as impressively as he has this season. Hopefully his arc will give other older college QBs a better shot, especially given the recent media blitz against the NFL regarding how development of the QB position in the league seems to be non-existent. Hopefully Bryce continues to improve as well, of course.

Mays is not under contract for next season. The team signed him off of the Giants practice squad after they picked him up following the Panthers cutting him. Absolutely right about BC being one of the best 6th OL guys out there rn tho!

Carolina may not "be sold" on young (per athletic)
Icege replied to Champagnepapi704's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is a prime example of somebody that hates Young filling in the blanks themselves. Canales already stated that it does not give them a competitive advantage to tell opponents which QB they're starting until required. This has been consistent. Dalton did give them the best chance to win when comparing his first game this season to Bryce's first two. However, Bryce has as many wins in the last few weeks as Andy has had in the last two years. Saying Andy gives them the best chance to win given that data just doesn't make sense. He committed to Bryce this week. Last week the team was on a Bye with no opponent, therefore there was no commitment to make. By just using basic pattern recognition skills, it wouldn't have made sense for him to name the starting QB during a week when the team wasn't playing. People will see the signs that they want to see unless it's made crystal clear (and even then, they'll still choose to believe whatever makes them feel better). Joe insinuating that there are signs without actually pointing them out irresponsibly enables the behavior quoted. -

Regardless of who is QB in 2025, claiming that there "are signs" only to not list anything that Canales has done to show that said signs exist is wildly irresponsible. Then again, it's Joe Person, the same beat reporter that needed David Newton to exist so that he was no longer the worst person covering the Panthers. -

For the folks that haven't read the original article that led to the recent clickbait, here is the section being referenced: He points out that Canales didn't declare Bryce the starter and suggested that there were signs that he wasn't sold on Bryce... only to not list any of those signs. Some fans have decided to fill in the blanks themselves with whatever they want. -
With the way the passing game has opened up, defenses are spending most of their time in nickel variations and trying to be more fluid with being able to show looks as either 4-3 or a 3-4 during a game. Regardless of what the base defense is, the team needs talent all over it. Edge rushers are priority #1 but the team also needs to find a true #2 CB, a young defensive lineman to pair with DB (and offset his contract), and intelligent safeties (Evero's defense depends on this and all but Richardson iirc are on expiring deals this season).

The Carolina Reaper strikes again!

Good luck with... whatever it is. It's one thing to want the team to get better draft positioning, but it's another to completely disregard reality for the sake of arguing.
