  1. Roster cuts will be due Tuesday, August 27th @ 4pm.
  2. Will get up by this weekend. Gotta pay for other leagues as well so I'm going to sit and do it in one swoop.
  3. Where I'm at as well. Everybody agrees for the most part that this was the worst roster in the league last season that would be difficult to turn around in a single offseason. They want to keep the starters healthy and find the best depth that they can in order to see who they can build with. I get wanting to take advantage of the different looks they could create in the joint session vs. another team. I expect the starters to get a series or three during the final preseason game, but if they're worried about depth for a particular group I can see them sitting still. Was awesome to see a much, much better joint session than last season. I remember Quinnen WIlliams bragging about the sacks, concerns about the OL being shared, and talks about the WRs not being able to separate (Unnecessary Bluntness mentioned it after last year's practice). If the team can follow up a good practice with a decent game, it might be okay for some to hope again. It'll also be their only night time game, so it'll be interesting seeing if that gives anybody a little extra juice.
  4. Because the entire premise of the argument is, "This team has not been successful, so nothing they do is right and I am allowed to make demonstrably false claims" which doesn't make sense. In this case, there's no secret sauce for approach in preseason. People might have their beliefs on how it should be done and why, which is fine. But... if the preseason model doesn't work, then why has it worked before?
  5. tbh, a player being bashed is going to happen. Folks will get frustrated and lash out. It's the insistence on a small handful of posters to tank every thread by repeating the same diatribes (true or not) before attacking folks that voice being over their shtick that needs to stop imo.
  6. Bryce wrapping up today Thought it was a really good day. Got to compete against the Jets defense and see some new guys. Felt that they did some good stuff and that there was stuff to learn from. Liked how competitive the team was and how they responded. They started strong as a unit, went through a lull, and responded to it. If there's two or three bad drives in a season they want to make sure they can rebound from that in finish. Gotta clean up some procedural stuff, clean up some reads that he made and make them quicker. He's got a snapshot in his mind but will get a better idea when he sees the film, so he can't point out specific situations until he's done that. Getting prolonged 1v1s with different looks is good for everyone. They weren't working on super complex things today, but they have different calls and preseason plans that they're doing before it gets into the regular season. Get to show things that you don't otherwise explore often in season, so this was a great opportunity. Preseason is vanilla. TMJ had a great practice, wasn't surprised at all. Made the most of some opportunities which is what Bryce sees and expects. TMJ was competitive and rose to the occasion with plays they know that he can make. Was great. Never thought about what would have happened had he sat last year, he's grateful for his experience. There's what-ifs for any scenario so he just focuses on what happens rather than what can. Can get a ton out of talking and reviewing, but you can't replicate being able to play. Excited to keep building and that as a team they all have that same attitude. Everyone has that edge that they want to go out and compete, but the understand the moderation/balance required which he is grateful for. "It's football" re: fights today. Guys are fighting for spots, to elevate their teams, themselves, etc throughout camp. Have a ton of respect for the Jets and stuff just boils over sometimes. Were able to dap up afterwards and show love. Not what is wanted of course nor what's planned, but stuff happens and it stays there because it's important for them to move on. Talk football stuff with his teammates, let the coaches handle discipline re: TMJ. Doesn't know if he's playing on Saturday. Backs the coaches 100% on their decision. Taught to go through all of their progressions, stay on their timeclock, but some times things break down. Play they executed in the redzone was designed to be outside of the pocket. Tough for a defense to guard one concept and it changes to something else. Tries to do everything that he can to extend stuff and get a positive play out of it. Make sure they're still able to play sound football when able to. Hunt was able to comeback which was great. Hasn't talked to Chuba since but hopes for good news. Wants guys on both sides are good and no long term injuries resulting from the joint sessions. Biggest change from last season is being more comfortable, having more of a feel/experience. Also leaning into the system. Nothing about last year, but this system has some great stuff and great guys to that the scheme does a great job getting the ball into their hands. Doesn't think about last year because it's not applicable, but has done that with every year. Doesn't compare to last year, every year is a new year in football. Have to be able to go hit a reset and focus on what coaches are saying. Have had great fan support throughout camp which they feed off of. Having that support means a lot and pushes them to be better. Felt there was a lot of juice today and they want to build off of it. It's one day in August for them to build off of. Practice done!!! Team is off tomorrow and then plays Saturday @ 7pm!
  7. Hamstring. Could be significant but was doing well in camp. Paraphrasing Canales. HOT TAKE: He wasn't doing too bad when compared to what he put on the field last season.
  8. Jaycee Horn up Good day, made plays on the ball especially when they got into our redzone. Took points off of the board, but have some they gotta clean up. Good day overall. Being coached to attack the ball any chance they get. At the end of run plays, DBs have to run to the ball and punch it. Coaches are showing how many attacks on the ball in practice that they're making. Getting a turnover can change the whole game. Can't remember the exact number of attempts they need to get, so he just punches at it every time and keeps that attacking mindset. Lamar Jackson, D'Shawn Jackson, and Dicaprio Bootle have been stepping up and competing really tough. Doesn't know who will fill in for Dane Jackson. Defense plays with a lot of confidence when they get turnovers and feels untouchable, especially when it can be from Rodgers who threw a couple of no look passes today. Was surgical in 2min. Knows that QBs like Mahomes are going to attack them this season. Was on a rep count today but has a little relationship with Rodgers from training with him during the offseason. Saw how hard he works in person. Was a little bigger than he thought and talked a lot of trash. They weren't training together per se, but were training at the same facility in Cali. Jaycee had trained there to get ready for the draft before. Not his job to worry about whether or not somebody can fill in for Dane. Has faith in the guys there. (Guess which of these questions have been David Newton...) Trevin Wallace is learning fast but has to get adapt more to the speed of the NFL. Pick today was big though because it was in the redzone and took points off of the board. Looking to challenge a little more on the outside vs. the quick game after the Jets' successful drives. Benefits greatly just from seeing a different opponent. Practicing against the same people allows you to take shortcuts because you know them from being with them every day. New guys force you to lean on technique more heavily. As long as you get reps against a #1 guy that's what matters. He prefers the joint sessions where he gets a lot of specified work rather than preseason where you get whatever looks come your way. Feels like he gets to refine technique more with all of the different looks shown in the joint practice. Reasons to get fined by the DB room: dropping picks, being late, if you hold, if you get a PI, etc. There's going to be a lot of money in the pot at the end of the year that they'll hopefully go on a DB trip with.
  9. Canales up first (with an echo too... awesome...) Got to see a couple of longtime friends that he's worked with in the past. Two groups after the same thing, straining effort to get the ball, great defense, the run game. Great moment for their guys and to see them hone in on each other. Energy was electric. Injury-wise, Chandler Zavala has a hamstring. Concerned about that one but it might be a little bit of a longer deal, he's been doing fantastic in camp. Kenny Dyson with a groin, pretty good one there. Those are the big ones. Robert Hunt had a little bit of something, checked him out, everything was great and he finished practice. Was more of a scare than anything else. Chuba went down, big concerns there. Initial testing looks pretty good but they're gonna follow up and get more info on him (knee). Want to make sure he's fully ready. Looked like it was the slip that did the damage. Initial testing though looks really good. TMJ taunting that led to fight: "It's dumb football." He got excited about making a good football play on a good football player. They talked about it and put it behind them. Margins are so tight in this league that you can't afford to give the opponent anything: not the ball, not a penalty, not a false start and pre-snap things like lining up offsides. They add up and flip the field. Something we have to continue to work on. Seeing a new opponent helped with the offense starting well. Starting against our defense is really hard because we have a great scheme that forces you to try and run the ball and take your luck with the front. To see a fresh start, it was a response for the offense. Took their lumps, had their up and down, and kept pounding. Fixed the fundamentals, show it on tape, and got into bigger things so that they were able to settle down, settle in, and execute. Thought Bryce was sharp yesterday, even with 2 INTs. Didn't see Shy, and learned the lesson to not be late on the outside. Compartmentalized the mistakes and showed the body of work. Was accurate, good getting them out of the huddle. When stakes rise his performance does as well. Regarding deep balls: "Up the field to the outside hand," give the guy a chance to make a play. Keep it on track though and don't let it get out of bounds. Was so glad to see it show up today. Hunt sent a veteran message that he's okay and there to take advantage of the work by trying to return today. Tried to throw more back-ball fades. Also worked on throwing to different spots in the endzone. re: fighting: Push it to the limit up to the edge, teeter on the edge, but always come back to us. Celebrate with us. Don't need to berate opponent, our goal is to play our best football. If it becomes about the other team it's no longer about you, it becomes about you trying to beat the opponents. What happens when you play a team you're better than with that attitude? Do you play down to your level or do you push yourself still to be at your best? Gotta go through how they came out of practices to see who is available like last week for the preseason game. Has an idea of who he wants, but who is available will dictate what happens. Saw 7-on-7s but didn't see the defense much because he was trying to make sure they got plays in and out on offense. Thinks Corbett is in the realm of reasonable for any center league wide. Different blocks put a little more stress on shotgun/pistol snaps, but he hasn't been ordinary out of what's seen for a center so he's really pleased with what he's seen. Defense forced 2 INTS. "Spoiled the movie! Spoiler alert! I haven't seen the film yet." Reporter responds: "That'll be in the trailer anyways." lol. Canales reiterates the defensive coaches emphasizing attempts on the ball. Percentages of getting a fumble punched out are low, so you just gotta get more attempts at the ball. Gotta be multiple guys. INTs come from guys playing their leverage, having great eyes, doing their job, and coming up with the catch. Loves it. Trains the offense to be smart about it. Diontae being out doesn't make him look at Bryce's day differently. He's just excited to evaluate guys and see them make plays. Clowney is day-to-day. He knows his body. XL still ramping up. Clowney the same thing. Just getting them a great day of work and taking care of them for the long haul to make sure they're ready for the season. X-Woods groin issue was a little more serious than they thought. He's a couple of weeks away, can't remember how many. They were hoping for general soreness but it ended up being a strain. Dane Jackson's hamstring issue was significant and will be about 6 weeks. Thought Bryce was doing great getting to the next progression. Even on the play with Chuba, didn't react and kept the play moving. Able to control the volume they're able to throw at their guys. Can talk to Saleh about how long to push the guys on the field. Panthers punted because they had an LS and Jets didn't. Jets kicked field goals, but Panthers didn't. Good for their eyes to see and evaluate. Behooves everyone to utilize the QB3 call-up potential. Have to look at the roster and see what Jack and Jake show to be that guy and will give them all of the opportunities to show it.
  10. HOT TAKE: D'Shawn Robinson, TMJ, and/or BY9 will be who speaks to the media today
