  1. Agree completely which is why I hope we somehow acquire more draft picks. If we could trade down and get an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick it would be like getting another starter. Also if the top tackles are gone when we pick I see no reason why we can't draft a WR in the first, pass rusher and safety in the second and third then draft someone like Havenstein or a Daryl Williams in the fourth round. I could see our draft going like this 1st: Jaelen Strong 2nd: Owamagbe odighizuwa 3rd: Safety 4: Tackle Or possibly drafting a safety in the second if Gettleman sees on that is BPA and then drafting DE Flowers or Preston Smith in the 3rd. Either one seems like a winner to me.
  2. Well the Patriots had Lafell, Browner, Revis and Blount this year and each played a major role in the super bowl run. While I understand and mostly agree with what you say I must say that free agency does matter quiet a bit but it's all about not over spending, finding the hidden gems and not signing a bust.
  3. The jets getting a good back up QB with plenty if experience is far from a crazy move.
  4. Drafting well and finding UDFA are key to being successful in the NFL. If it was all about free agency then Washington would have won quiet a bit of super bowls in the past 10 years. Finding the Right free agent can help win a Super Bowl as well but it's just not as common. Patriots got Browner and Revis, Lafell and Blount who played key to the Patriots winning the Super Bowl. In the past teams needed that one extra piece of the puzzle to win a Super Bowl for example: Deon Sanders with the 49ers and Cowboys. Todd Hayley going from the 49ers to the Cowboys was a big move. Brees to New Orleans. Packers signing Woodson. Even a smaller signing like Jacoby Jones to Baltimore. While drafting well is the most important part and is responsible for most of the Roster sometimes one or a few free agents can be the difference between a Conference champ and Super bowl champ.
  5. True. In fact there are a lot of decent safeties in free agency that could be an upgrade to what we have and there are quiet a bit of pretty good safeties that are coming off of major injuries if we wanted to take the risk. I do believe there are still a few safeties that could be drafted in the 2nd-3rd round that could start. We would have to get one in early rounds since there isn't much depth at the position.
  6. Well we could draft a WR in the 1st round, get a safety in the 2nd or 3rd round and a nickle back can be found in the 4-5 round. Add a solid tackle and RB and there's our roster for 2015.
  7. I believe that Gettleman likes signing atleast a low level FA so he isn't stuck having to reach to feel a position so he can go BPA. Which is why we signed Oher.
  8. Realistically I see our wide receiver corp look like this and yes I believe Cotchery will be cut. 1.KB 2.draftee( Jaelen Strong?) 3. Philly Brown (slot WR) 4.Boykin ( I believe he can be a solid 3-4 WR and looks like a Gettleman like signing. 5. Ginn ( I don't see him getting many snaps as a WR since Philly is better receiver and basically the same mold) 6/practice squad. Idk if we will have 6 WRs on the 53 man but I'm going on a limb and say it will be between Mike Brown, Brenton Bersin, Stephen Hill and Marcus Lucas with the potential of another drafted/UDFA WR. Unless Mike Brown and/or Stephen Hill impresses in training camp they will probably be gone.
  9. Washington is rumored to take Mariota at #5 if available. I believe that maybe Washington is putting out some misinformation to trick the Eagles to try to get a higher pick than 5 so they will waste more to move up. Chip wants Mariota and has proved he will do crazy transactions so it would be a great idea for Washington to trick a division rival.
  10. I wish we could resign Hardy for vet minimum. I believe Oakland is his best choice money wise. The dolphins signed Suh so they don't have money. Colts signed Trent Cole so I don't see them trying to get Hardy as well. Jacksonville has already signed some big name free agents so they are probably out of the mix. Which leaves the Raiders. I have heard that the Patriots are interested so he could take less and sign with them instead. New England will get the most out of Hardy and we all know that they have a history of getting troubled players to turn things around.
  11. Which is why I wouldn't be against us signing him and I don't see why people would be against us signing him. He got beat out by Adams who was a second round pick and a good wide receiver. So he isn't as good as Adams who could be a #2 WR on almost any team. Boykin had a solid year in 2013 and would be an instant upgrade over Cotchery and will probably be cheap. He may not be a #2 WR but he could be a solid 3-4 WR. At the end of the day would you want Cotchery or Cotchery and Boykin going into training camp? Also what if we end up not drafting a WR in the first 4 rounds? We would still have Boykin who could be a stop gap #2 WR and while that isn't good it's better than having Cotchery again as our #2. If we do end up drafting a WR then he will offer competition and leadership and our WR corp would be pretty good. If someone goes down he could fill in.
  12. Yes indeed the NFL network said the Saints were looking to trade everyone except Brees.
  13. Not at all. For the right price he would be a solid player and upgrade over Cotchery. His problem is staying healthy. We won't get Torrey Smith. He will be the top WR in free agency and will get over paid.
  14. The question is do we sign a free agent or draft a WR to be our #2 guy? The draft is supposed to be deep with WRs so I would feel fine with signing a Cecil Shorts or Micheal Crabtree and drafting a mid round WR to develop. I still feel Stephen Hill and recently signed Mike Brown could develop into something special.
  15. He's only 26? Perfect Hardy replacement. The only problem I see is we like for defensive ends to be able to play DT which I don't think Morgan can play.
  16. I believe oaklahoma makes great offensive linemen. I wouldn't be against drafting this guy. My dream would be to draft Either draft Jake fisher in the second and Williams in the 3rd or Williams in the 3rd and Havenstein in the 4th.
  17. Well he had the option to get paid more to play for a horrible team like the Raiders or take a small pay cut to remain with the same team who is a Super Bowl contender and a QB who will help your stats look great.
  18. Never thought we would get Cobb anyhow. 10 million was out of our league. I guess that leaves Maclin as the top WR in free agency.
  19. Would be a good replacement if we loose Dickson. I have a feeling Dickson will cost less than Kendricks. I don't feel safe having Brandon Williams as our back up. We could always look to the draft for a tight end but this is a weak draft for tight ends.
  20. I wanted Derek Newton. Really thought he would fit in well here. It is looking more like we will be stuck with Oher as our only free agent tackle signed.
  21. I would love to have Dickson back. When our offensive line got better and he wasn't having to help block Dickson was a pretty decent option to have.
  22. Even if he isn't that great we must look at the facts. The Ravens were pretty good, winning one Super Bowl with Oher as a starter. Even if he doesn't start for us he does provide solid depth if a starter goes down. Where as last year we were stuck with Foucault up until we signed Reammers. I honestly would love for our staff to at least try to see what Norwell could do at tackle while moving Oher to guard.
  23. I would be happy if we drafted Humphries or Flowers in the first. La'el Collins is my top tackle preference but it seems like he will be gone before we pick. If those three were gone I wouldn't be against Cam Erving. TJ Clemmings is raw and scares me because he has a chance of never developing into a starting tackle.
  24. I believe we could sign a good free agent WR and draft one in mid to late rounds to develop, leaving other positions we could improve in the first. We could do the same with tackle but there are not as many talented tackles as their are receivers. I can't wait to see what Gettleman does when he has a little bit of money.
