Would quarterbacks avoid Carolina Panthers in NFL Draft?
Barney replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
The national narrative around this seems more like Tepper hate than anything else. If you go back and watch game film, Bryce is not seeing the field. Canales play design has receivers open, but Bryce is not seeing them, getting antsy and immediately looking for his check down. That combined with his lack of arm strength is making things extremely tough on him. His lack of height and not being able to see or throw above the line at times is also compounding things. I am not sure he will ever be any good, but what I see right now is that he is not ready to start. The narrative is look at how good Baker and Darnold are after they left, which is a freaking joke. Maybe just maybe they were not ready to start when they were thrown into those roles either. Jordan Love was not ready, but he was not forced into action either. He was able to sit learn and digest the game and when his time came he looks like he was ready. Was drafting Young #1 a mistake, I think probably so and that falls on Tepper and Fitt for sure. If we are bring honest Stroud is the exception when it comes to rookie performance. Very few rookies come out and play like he played his first year. -
Lol I love how people "know" Canales stood up to Tepper and how a whole other group "knows" that Tepper told Canales to bench Young. Maybe after two weeks worth of terrible play it was just a natural decision to bench the guy. Maybe we can go get Malik Willis as some of you thought he was the next great player full of "potential"

Anytime you take ANY individuals and group them into something you are showing ignorance. It is the same mindset that causes things like racism. People are people. Some are good and some are not. I know many wealthy people that give a huge amount of their money and time to helping others and do this under the radar because they do not want any recognition, they just want to help others. They feel they have been given much and it is their mission to help others. Many of them employ a lot of people as well and by taking chances and starting businesses, they allow many others to earn a living and provide nice lives for their families. I cringe every time I hear people bash wealthy people. We have become a society that is not grateful for what we have and more feel entitled. If you feel entitled you will never be satisfied, but being grateful will allow you to appreciate what you do have. At some point most of us reach a point where we realize money is really just a trap that leaves you wanting more. Family and faith come into play much more as life goes on. I see so many people that say they can't make bills etc, while eating out all the time, buying stuff they want instead of what they need.

College Athletes can now be paid directly by schools to play
Barney replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
Great point. I totally overlooked that piece. I would say if they are being paid scholarships are no longer needed unless paid for from those same funds. No more tax money going to fund any athletes being paid by the school. I think with what you laid out here that should cover the student athlete payrolls. -

They need to take a look at the State funding a school receives. If you have a kid at one of these football schools many times all of the money is flowing into athletics and athletic facilities while the regular student dorms are falling apart and many academic buildings are in bad shape, but check out that new and even bigger jumbotron. If the schools start paying, any state funding going toward their scholarships should be removed. I don't agree with our tax dollars paying college athletes. Let that money come from boosters and endorsements. -

Contracts will be coming for these athletes soon. -
Panthers Select Xavier Legette WR - Pick 32, Round 1
Barney replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Saying Mingo and Leggette are the same player because of 40 times and combine is laughable. Legette is much stronger with the ball in his hands and will go up and get a 50/50 ball with aggression. I don't care anything about his 40 time. When he is on the field with the ball in his hands he is plenty fast. I can see him being used very similar to Deebo. Not sure he has the tackle breaking strength Deebo has, but if used properly I think he is going to be a problem for other teams. -
I think if Carson Beck plays as well as he did this past year he is my #1. He looks like he can be a really good pro. Klubnik will need to make major improvements in his decision making to even make the NFL.

I am taking Rattler over Nix. I believe he has a better arm and played pretty well last year with a horrible OL. I think he makes good decisions with the ball and does not get flustered easily. Just stays calm and does his job. There is chatter Atlanta has a strong interest in him. I am not sure why he is not getting more love, but I think he is one of the better QB's in the class. Always a pass first guy, which I think some of the others are going to be hard to break their one read and take off tendencies.

Ryan Leaf says Caleb Williams needs work, should sit for a year
Barney replied to HardcoreHokie's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Williams is a little delusional about how good he is and how good he will be in the NFL. He will be humbled pretty quickly IMO. -
Overlooked in this whole draft is Spencer Rattler. He has one of the better arms IMO. Accuracy and can make all the throws. I think Williams is a bust. Too much Diva.

Would be fun to go back and see how many here were calling him a bust before the end of season 1

Would you feel differently if that was some high dollar bourbon he wasted on that fan?

I've always tried to conduct myself as an adult with respect for others. I don't put higher expectations on people because of some sort of social status. At the end of the day they are just people and they are going to make mistakes, just like the rest of us. I just don't see this as some traumatic event some want to make it out to be. Does not mean that I think he is a good owner or defend him in any way, but I see people making some pretty strong accusations about him based on this incident and I personally don't agree with the level of judgement being leveled by some. To each their own. I can only control myself and try to live my best life, but I am sure I will make mistakes as well.

I can't believe everyone is having such a hissy fit over this. Is the Tepper a douchbag, absolutely, but the fan is probably just as big a douchebag to be up there talking trash to him. Both in the wrong Tepper should have known better and now he has embarrassed himself for his actions. His actions have absolutely no bearing on my life.

Little dramatic don't you think.

Got his ass handed to him Sunday by none other than Joe Brady calling plays for the Bills lol. I'll pass. Good DC not head coach material imo. -
Why is it still a bad thing to call a QB a “game manager “??
Barney replied to recceice's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam is now in the media world and the name of the game is to get clicks. He knew some people would object to what some deem as a slight, so he said it and mission accomplished for him, he gets more attention and more clicks. To me a game manager is what I want at QB. Run the system, make the correct reads and accurate throws and worry more about winning than the individual attention. It is a proven recipe for winning and I think if a QB can do this at a high level and keep winning they will get their fair recognition at the end of their career. -
I second Brown. Atlanta has a good running game and this dude continues to play his ass off and is a big reason they were not able to get their ground game going yesterday.

Frank Reich Fired as Panthers HC - Official
Barney replied to NJPanthers12's topic in Carolina Panthers
What has Caldwell's role been up to this point? I would have thought he would already been doing what he will now be doing. After the presser yesterday it was pretty obvious Frank was done with it and they were done with him. Good guy wrong job. Tepper needs someone to run this team and just sit back and watch. A good head of operations would be a start.
