I can't believe I didn't think to include your #3 game in my list. Awesome! I still wish I could find the video from the last play of Charger fans at home so excited, then so deflated with that walk-off TD. Also, I got to attend your #8 game. By the end, I was actually hoping the Falcons would get the ball more because I was so enjoying TD and the D beating up on Michael Vick. If you're speaking of weird ones, you gotta include Jake's butt hanging out when he tore his pants but still finished the drive with a TD.

Good call! Just like we got Chucky fired, sweeping the 49ers basically got Seifert fired. Little did me know that would come back to bite us in the butt. Though I guess we have his claim to fame bringing in Smitty and his claim to shame getting us Pep.

Here are the top 10 games I go back and watch in order of preference: 1. X-Clown 2. X-Clown 3-7. X-Clown: There is nothing you could ask for that this game didn't have. Incredible defense, incredible offense. The most nerve-wracking game I've ever seen. A fluky 'JAKE! what the heck are you doing?' fumble that ended as a Moose TD. A comedy of penalties that just kept moving us back and back, and then it was, oh yes, back again. A devastating last-minute Rams comeback. Horrible coaching decision. Missed sudden death FGs. And this doesn't even come close to describing it all. Then there was the greatest play in Panther history. "IT'S OVER! ... IT'S OVER!" 8. 1996 Steelers game. (For those that mentioned this one, shame on you for not speaking of the greatest highlight: Cowher holding back laughter while the refs decided whether to penalize Sir Purr.) 9. 2005 playoffs against the Bears that had beaten us earlier in the year and were so cocky sure they were going to easily get by us again. (This is the game that Smitty shared the cool secret about during the game Saturday. The play that set the stage and let the Bears know hibernation time was coming. What we all thought was an awesome pump fake was actually Jake trying to throw where Smitty was supposed to be on his hitch route. But Tillman was ready for it so Smitty took it upon himself to head to the endzone for the "That guy thinks he's gonna tackle me. I'll just slam on the brakes and let him fly on by" TD. 10. Wow. Gotta pick between (a) "You've been watching film, too, huh? That's cool. Watch this!" (b) "Ice up, son!" (c) the day some unintelligible Cajan came it at halftime (d) the rain game (e) Seahawks playoffs [that we won. God! Not the other one!] (f&g) Cowboys playoffs and (h) the game that got Chucky fired.

All in all seems like a good day. The team stood up for CMC. WIN Someone pushed a Patriot but gave him a soft landing spot. WIN The fat woman got the most action she's likely had in a while. WIN When asked about the the limp, she gets to say, "Yeah, it's an old football injury." WIN

The good news is we've had tons of those preseason super-receivers. Hopefully he'll just be another of those.

In fairness, these guys are literally the best competitors in the world. They are actually professional competitors and they got to where they are because they have always thrived at competing. They excelled at competing against other teams. They excelled at competing against anyone who wanted their spot on the field. They are paid millions to be the best. It's hard to imagine that any of them would not do better with competition. Also, I don't know a number but I'd guess I've heard a couple hundred times as players, coaches and GMs have said "Competition brings out the best." How many times have you heard any of the approx. 2000 players, coaches, GMs say, "Competition is unnecessary," or "We traded him because the competition was stealing our guys reps and we thought that was bad"? OBJECTION! Your Honor, Mr. Scot can't possibly answer what 2000 players would think. Furthermore, I recommend that the question be stricken from the record and everyone just agree that coffee is right and brilliant.
-
Mr Scot, you and I had a cordial and enjoyable disagreement in another thread. With the same spirit, I'm going to answer these comments. Bear in mind that I don't disagree about Rhule. I'm just not at the point that I agree yet either. I think there are circumstances that force me to go into year three with an open mind.

Your wisdom is unparalleled.

The "DJMoore Breaks ..." part of that nearly gave me a heart attack.
-
Thanks! Didn't know that about him.
-
And I don't know that story so please tell.
-
So he wins it right there, right?
-
Yeah, but wouldn't you still put Polian first?
-
No, I'm not saying he's the best. Just that' I'd still put him ahead of Gettleman. But our list to choose from is for the most part is "Who's the least of the evils?" I think I'd go: Polian Fitterer (still too early to place him here but I like his drafts and I like that he's in on all the deals. He put too much trust in Darnold but I understand trying it and don't see much in the way of other options that he should've tried. I'm glad he didn't draft one of last year's rookies.) Hurney Gettleman Capers Seifert
-
It almost feels I'm cheating to say Bill Polian. I know Hurney had his major flaws, but I like his flaws better than Gettleman's.
-
I apologize. It appears I accidentally hijacked the thread. I'll just say this: I think we are looking at it from two different perspectives. I agree with you that those players are not JAGs, so I see your point. I hope you will see mine as well. Those same players were mostly short-lived patches while practically every position overall weakened during Gettleman's time here. Oher, for example was wonderful that one year as you said. Overall, would you really classify his time in Carolina as a success? How was the position of LT during and after Gettleman's term? Holding on to Oher for waaaaay too long directly led to a terrible, desperate and horribly expensive decision to bring in Matt Kalil. He made the tough decision to let Smitty go, but what did he do to shore up the position. He made the tough decision to let Josh Norman go and then we had to practically waste a draft to try and fix it while starting an all-rookie CB crew. So, yes, I see your points. They are good points and I'm sure you can bring up more good points. But overall, I just cannot agree that he was the best GM we've had.
-
"I'd buy that for a dollar."
-
I agree that it's a bigger drop-off from a star to a JAG than it is from a JAG to a JAG.
-
Disagree wholeheartedly. He rode the Hurney-built team to the Super Bowl and milked it for everything he could. Other than that, his claims to fame were "making the tough decisions." What that actually translated to was dismantling a team by getting rid of stars without replacing them AND without fixing cap woes.

I did not want this trade. But if I'd known the price I'd have been all for it as a "why not?" situation. Seems the ones upset about it are worried about purgatory. In other words, if it isn't the ideal solution, they'd rather have it be bad enough to get a new coach and better draft pick to use on another rookie QB. If this doesn't work, I still don't want us to be bad. I want us to win enough games that next year's Brady/Watson/Wilson thinks: "This team is just a QB away. I'd be willing to go there."
-
Kevin: "And they get him again!" Greg: "I think they traded 'Darnold to Arnold' for 'Yet another sack of Dak.'"

No Respect for the Panthers - What Cowboys Fans are Saying
coffee replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Concerning the 2015 game: Romo's run fits the old "I brought you into this world and I'll take you out of it" phrase considering our 1st and then our last game against him. It was really not fair to him that they brought him back before he was ready AND they dumped the pressure of the season on him despite that record. On the OP's subject: I think they have the right to be excited to get their QB back and that they are playing really well. I can also see why they think our 3-0 may not be real. I'm not sure myself. BUT, a couple things I do feel good about are: (1) that they've allowed a lot of passing yards. With CMC out, we need to face a team where Darnold can shine. And it looks like he's taking advantage of those opportunities and we have the WRs to exploit that. (2) that our D seems to be not only really good but also really good in the areas that are needed for slowing their particular strengths. I hope it's enough. Right now, I'm about 50/50 on this one. -
If they were the Purple People Eaters, we could be the Blue Ballers.

This is the Turning Point Game of the 2021 Season
coffee replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is actually the first game that is not a must-win. If we lost any of those other gimme games, it would've been so disheartening to both the fans and the team that it probably would've affected the rest of the season. But it does have the potential to legitimize our team and build major momentum, so it'll be the most exciting one to go into thus far. -
I'm quite sure there will be those who find some hidden beautiful art and meaning in this movie. I, on the other hand, am quite frustrated that it wasted my time, and I can't figure out how someone could think it was a good idea for a movie, especially with the ridiculous non-existent ending. I felt that it was such a waste of time that I'm putting the warning here.
