Off to a hot start

How many building blocks do we have? DB (Out for the season), JC, Icky? I am struggling to find more.

It would mean a lot to me if the Panthers won this week
Chad_Cota replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sorry for your loss. My father is the one that got me into Football, every sunday we would watch the panthers together. Special moments. Praying for you and your family. -
It has been 1 GAME. Will it get better.. PROBABLY NOT

From 2018 the Panthers have had 10 Starting QBs. Here are the stats and this how I would rank them. DISCLAMER this is ugly: 2018- 3 QBs- Cam Newton (6-8), Kyle Allen 1-0, Taylor Heinicke (0-1) 2019- Kyle Allen (5-7), Cam Newton (0-2), Will Grier (0-2) 2020- Teddy Bridgewater (4-11), PJ Walker (1-0) 2021- Sam Darnold (4-7), Cam Newton (0-5), PJ Walker (1-0) 2022- Sam Darnold (4-2), Baker Mayfield (1-5), PJ Walker (2-3) 2023- Bryce Young (2-14, Andy Dalton (0-1) 2024- Bryce Young (0-1), TBD ?!?! (15-0) Rankings: 1. Cam Newton- 75-68-1, 32,382 yards, 194 TDs, 123 ints (Prime Cam was unstoppable until the JJ Watt Hit. Wish we could go back.) 2. Sam Darnold- 8-9, 3,670 Yards, 16 TDs, 16 ints (Sam should have stayed the starter after the Wilkes season, would have competed for the division this year and kept all of our assets.) 3. Teddy Bridgewater- 4-11, 3,733 yards, 15 TDs, 11 ints (3 years, $63 MM contract for 1 season with a 4-11 record.) 4. Kyle Allen- 8-9, 3,588 yards, 19 TDs, 16 ints. (Looked like the future in 2019, showed promise in the comeback snow game against GB. Just could not get over the fumble issue.) 5. Bryce Young- 2-16, 3038, 11 TDs, 12 ints. (If the trade was included into the rankings, Bryce would be dead last. Imo it's too early to bench bryce. Do I see him rebounding? No, but stranger things have happened. 6. PJ Walker- 4-3, 5 TDs, 11 ints (One of the most entertaining games of all time and best throws against the Falcons. PJ XFL had a wow factor, until NFL teams got tape on him. 7. Andy Dalton- 0-1, 361 yards, 2 TDs, 0 ints. (Probably would have won at least 3 more games with Andy Dalton as the starter last year. His 300 yard performance exposed some of the initial concerns of Bryce. Will we see him in 2024?) 8. Baker Mayfield- 1-5, 1,313 yards, 6 TDs, 6 ints. (Who could be succesful with Matt Rhule as their HC? The batted balls at the line were a major issue. He never fit in here and now is exceling on the Bucs.) 9. Taylor Heinicke- 0-1, 320 yards, 1 TD, 3 ints. (Liability at QB, eventually developed under Ron Rivera in WSH.) 10. Will Greir- 0-2, 228 yards, 0 TDs, 4 ints. ( One of the worst QB performances we have ever witnessed. 3rd pick wasted.) So here is to another year of underwhelming QB play. What is another year, we have been waiting since 2018. My advice build a team over the next few years and hopefully we can lure a NFL Caliper Starting QB into signing with us.

IMO: We should have kept Darnold. This would have been our offense today: QB- Darnold RB- CMC WR- DJ Moore, Dionte Johnson, Theilen TE- Tommy, Johnson OL- Current. We would have also kept all of our assets on defense and draft capital, keep in mind worst case scenario, this is what the offense would look like. I think we all agree, we would be excited with this team.

Hard to find bright spots after the beat down we just endured: Best Performances- Legette- 4 catches, 35 yards Thielen- 3 catches, 49 Yards Mike Jackson- Played well, looked like our best CB all game. Worst Performances- Bryce Young- No confidence, the stage looks to big for him. JC Horn- burned for 3 TDs, the first TD could have tackled Shaheed but pouted instead. (I hope we do not give this man Patrick Surtain money.) FS Fuller- If there was a saints TD, he was around the area. One of the worst saftey plays I have seen us role out. Mingo- 2 fumbles, is a liability on offense. Dionte Johnson- Underwhelming performance, had a few nice catches right before the half. The whole run game- 20 Rush attemps, 55 yards. Here is the breakdown- Miles- 5/22, Chubba 6/14, Boone 4/7. $150mm Guards in the run game. No piles were pushed. Canales, no second half adjustements. Saints sacked Bryce 3 times in a row with the same Corner blitz. This team will have to be lead by Dave Canales moving forward. This might be the last season we see Bryce on the roster. I know it's early, but this team has to find it's identity: Establish the run game first. Control the time of possesion. Focus on stopping the run. Our most succesful season recently was with Steve Wilks (6-6 record) and we prioritized these items. I don't care if we lose every game, I just want to see this team progress in the right direction this year. One thing that sticks out with this team is no identity.

Well it can’t get any worse than last year. I think the offense will look at least NFL level this season.

We are thin at CB
-
Come on defense

That pass rush… brother
-
Jordan Mathew’s might have a good year at TE.

Inactives: Starters get the night off against Jets
Chad_Cota replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
This team is not even a playoff caliber team and Bryce is not a guarantee. So why the hell are we sitting our starters -
Can’t wait for the next camp confidential
-
Looked like a Frank Reich coached team. Our most successful drive had a bunch of screen passes
-
This team smells of tepper
-
To bad we don’t have a Brady in Plummer
-
That’s what we said last year. Offense can’t be this bad right??
-
Something tells me the story would be the same with the full first string
-
Had all day to throw and no open WR
-
Not even the end of the first quarter of our first preseason game and we already making this guy Kyle Allen, Matt Moore, Derek Carr
-
Bums at WR. Improved my ass

This sounds like the typical Carolina WR drafted: Devin Funchese TMJ Mingo Kerry Colbert Kelvin Benjamin Shi Smith terry Godwin (Who?) Joe Adams Pilares David Gettis Armanti Edwards Brandon LeFell Dwayne Jarret Ryne Robinson Walter Young Donald Hayes Rae Carruth Donnell Baker Only players we have hit on at wr are in this order: Steve Smith ( released by Gettleman, signed with BAL) Muhhamed (Did not pay, went to bears) DJ Moore (Traded for Bryce) Curtis Samuel (Did not resign, went to WAS) You can make a case for Lafell, Kelvin at times, and Lafell at times. Xavier Lagette TBD... We have a 18% hit rate on WR for All time. Should be studied.
