This would also hold true for any qb we take later in this draft. We traded down for Corral; lets at least see what he can do before we dump him and use precious draft capital on someone equally as unproven.
-
Hellllll no. I'm very nervous about not addressing edge, lb, cb, te, wr with only 6 picks. No way we waste one of those on a qb.

Remember that Will Levis rumor yesterday?
rebelrouser replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
Because then he has to refute every b.s. rumor that is posted on the internet. It's only two days until the draft but that probably means about another dozen b.s. rumors. -
“The S2 people will say, ‘Hey, guys that graded high on this test don’t always play well,’” one club executive said, “’But, we’ve never had somebody grade low and play well.’” Columbus Dispatch This plus the fact that no OSU qb has ever been worth a damn in the NFL means you do not trade up for Stroud (Fields was poor first year and mediocre second year).

Let’s get the record straight on S2
rebelrouser replied to TheMostInterestingMan's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is my fear. Stroud has a built in ceiling meaning he will be a decent starter or back up and that's it. You don't trade the farm for that. -
I'll take that right now.

CJ Henderson and Keith Taylor in Evero’s defense
rebelrouser replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nice. I think we have several need positions and I go back and forth over prioritizing them so I hope we stay flexible and take the best available TE, WR, CB, Edge. At least one of those positions will have a first round talent drop to early second. Take that guy. -
Panthers Falcons rivalry potentially get a added spark
rebelrouser replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Only way to get CJ is by trading up. Even if CJ starts to drop, some other team will trade down to snatch him up before the Coons. They just announced the line in the sand where CJ will not go beyond for the rest of the league. -
Anthony Richardson “knocked” S2 cognitive test “out of the park”.
rebelrouser replied to DFive's topic in Carolina Panthers
By tape do you mean highlights? Because i watched complete games and he was complete crap. Maybe he is the ultimate qb mind in the ultimate qb body that only completes 53.8% of his passes. Was he day dreaming out there or something? -
Pick #39, don't hold your breath for a WR or TE
rebelrouser replied to AU-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think we need wr, te, edge, and cb and will look from someone to drop to us at 39. Take best available that can contribute year one. -
I doubt whether he actually scored low and whether teams will get too caught up in the test. It is merely a component of the player. Tape being the most important.

Anthony Richardson “knocked” S2 cognitive test “out of the park”.

So AR's camp releases a vague unsubstantiated rumor. Surprised this didn't happen earlier. and what exactly does out of the park mean? -
Is Bryce a #1 prospect if he didn’t go to Bama?
rebelrouser replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes. His 2022 Bama team was defined by poor oline pass blocking, poor rb blitz pickups, and mediocre receivers. This would be a better question if he came out in '21 with a much better oline and wr's. Essentially '21 Bama = '22 Ohio State so the better question is whether CJ would be a no. 1 prospect if he had not attended OSU. Both inquiries are off though as they both distanced themselves from the rest of the field. -
10th highest qbr in 2020. He was overrated but dogshit?

Perfectly said.

No but we know they own the information and can leak it like Young did. Why didn't they leak high S2 scores? Neither of them showed particular decision making during games (well, not in his second year for Levis--he was much better with a decent line). Really their college coaches didn't come out and say they were idiots? Could their college coaches be puffing them up? That's never been done before by a college coach. They always tell the media absolutely what they think of their former player.

I questioned McCown pick as qb coach, but this guy looks worse. Zero coaching experience. At least McCown recently played. I agree that we are getting too wrapped up in qb coach and qb coach candidate opinions. Obviously this staff feels like the other coaches history can make up for a qb with 0 experience.
