So who won the Dan Arnold CJ Henderson trade? Darnold to Arnold was working fairly well before we made the trade.

I think this was staged. How convenient someone just happened to film that and know who he was. I think his agent wanted to generate a feel good story in the media to bolster his stock and have some idiot team like the Panthers reach for him. Thank goodness we didn't fall for it. He may be a nice person, and I could be wrong about the photo op, but he is not an NFL qb.

Chris Simms - Matt Corral is the top QB of the draft class
rebelrouser replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
The more i look at next year's qb's, the happier i am we grabbed Corral late in the third. Sure Young and Stroud look like stud qb's, but they wouldn't be on the board for us. After that it drops off pretty steep. That could change of course, but there is no guarantee that 2023 draft is the qb haul everyone is expecting. Taking a qb this year gets us a year head start on development too. -
The one thing that is nagging at me about our QB pick...
rebelrouser replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Arkansas figured out Matt Corral during the 2020 season by dropping 8 into coverage and forcing a ton of int's. That defensive scheme followed Corral into the 2021 season, but he learned to be more patient, quit throwing longer passes into double coverage, and use his check down or run for yardage. His int's went down drastically because he listened to his coaches and had discipline. NFL defenses won't take away the pass and dare us to run like college defenses did to Corral. That line and rb's will see to that. Here is an article about d's dropping 8 on Corral: 247 Sports -
Sharp Football Analysis I agree with this in the sense that I doubt we get a shot at the first three qb's off the board with where we pick. Makes more sense to address a real need with our no. 1.

At this point, why even make a decision on adding a qb? Wait until those a-holes in Cleveland have to cut Mayfield. They thought they could make us pick up a big part of his salary while paying Sam way too much too? Screw them.

QB is usually very hard to predict and takes a couple of years to see if you got your guy. There are generally only about two worth a damn per year.

Good insight into the Panthers trade for Corral
rebelrouser replied to Jaxel's topic in Carolina Panthers
Seems like a lot of people think Justin Fields is a slam dunk NFL qb. He's not. He's basically Sam Darnold. I get their oline was not good but neither was ours. -
1. agree but i think we got lucky w/ no good offers to trade back; we could have easily ended up w/ Pickett and Trevor Penning, which would have been much, much worse than what we got. 2. agree but remember he is from an rpo offense. he really needs time to develop his ability to take in multiple reads and not check down or run so quickly; his quick delivery and arm strength are great. 3. agree; Ben McAdoo as interim coach if we don't make playoffs. 4. Icky is better than Rashawn Slater who played 1116 snaps in 16 games. I hope he gets every chance to play a lot. We got absolutely schooled by the Jets in the Darnold trade and missed out on one of the deepest drafts in a while (lots of great players didn't declare during covid year). No more selling out our future.

Round 3 Pick 94: Panthers Select Matt Corral - QB Ole Miss
rebelrouser replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm an Ole Miss fan so i've seen every game he has played in. Great kid who is great leader. His stats actually went down from sophomore to junior year, but he got his int's under control and played hurt a good part of the year. He got hurt because we relied on his running too much when we were in trouble. I thought he was the best qb prospect in the draft. -

Best LT and QB in the draft w/ where we were picking? I would call that an A+. -
REPORT: Robby Anderson available for trade
rebelrouser replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Anyone else think his good guy image is being staged by his agent? Create a feel good story that will lead a gullible owner to pull the trigger? Maybe i'm just too cynical. He is probably a nice enough kid but a complete project. The media wanted him drafted yesterday. -
Round 2-3 predictions. Do the Panthers get a pick,?
rebelrouser replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
He can't be that stupid can he? I'm sure he was saying that hoping for people in front of us taking a qb or someone trading up to take one. We got lucky all three tackles were there last night. -
We put Darnold behind one of the worst olines in the nfl with one of the worst oc's in the nfl and expected great things. I'm still not sold on him, but let's see what he can do with a quality line and a real nfl oc.

Unless the Brown's offer picks AND a substantial part of his salary, just wait until the Browns cut Mayfield and then pay him league minimum. -
Who’s your ideal ‘trade back’ partner?
rebelrouser replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Should have said tackle. Everything i'v read has them taking at tackle at 17 so that would be four tackles off the board at pick 18 and a disaster for us. -
What did you read? He seems like the best or one of the best qb's as long as you take him second round or later.
-
If one of the top 3 LT's is available, take him. Our coach, GM, and owner have proven they are good at drafting. Don't complicate this.

How will you feel if we PASS on a LT in round one…..
rebelrouser replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Trade for Becton????? Let the Jets make us their bitch a second time in a trade? No thanks. -
We should be in position to get a LT tomorrow night.
rebelrouser replied to SCO96's topic in Carolina Panthers
We liked Christensen so much he could not unseat one of the worst LT's in the NFL. -
Who’s your ideal ‘trade back’ partner?
rebelrouser replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like the chances of the top three. We cannot afford to draft Brady Christensen 2.0 with our first pick. -

Can't trade past pick 17 because Chargers would take the last LT right in front of us. We would have to go with another position, which would be a mistake. If any of the three top LT's are available at 6 stay put.
