It's both. You have to create an RPO type system for Hurts to work out. Minshew is a completely different type of quarterback so when he goes in, he is running a system built for someone very different than him. He is not a good backup for Hurts. Get a Huntley type like Ravens have so when the backup has to play, he can come in w/ the same playbook and no one has to adjust.

You serious Clark? The guy is color man who has never coached and has ties to Wilks. I hope we aren't taking advice from the media.
-
Frank Reich is a legit head coach candidate with interviews with several nfl teams. Why would he hitch his wagon to Wilks who got a courtesy/Rooney interview and be a coordinator? That is not happening.
-
Rhule screwed us putting Corral behind that crap oline in preseason. Wasn't it that fat guard from Alabama that let his man straight through that got him hurt? Deonte Brown? With a healthy Corral, the smart play we saw from other teams is to let your new draftee take his lumps and get a good draft pick. Nine just flat out sucks. Too low for a good qb, too high for Anthony Richardson, and really not sure what we do with it. WR is deep, LB is deep, and too early for a TE.
-
Wow, sounds like one of the other teams that needs a head coach would really want him.

Lamar could be gone……Article ahead.

He's just not worth the guaranteed contract. Serious injury and your future is wrecked. He quit on his team but so did Anthony Robinson and a lot of people want him. Deshaun wasn't worth a guaranteed contract either (no one is) but at least he can throw. -
1/17 Athletic/Brugler Mock: Panthers Trade Up
rebelrouser replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Gibbs is a better prospect but has yet to play in the NFL. The real point is that we don't need to take Gibbs at #39 with our first second round pick. That is way to high for a rb when we have much bigger needs. -
1/17 Athletic/Brugler Mock: Panthers Trade Up
rebelrouser replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have no problem trading down like that IF we get Stroud or Young. No way we do it for Levis. I also think drafting AR at 9 and a RB with our first second round pick are wasteful. Gibbs = small version of Hubbard. -
1. HC: Steichen, Johnson, or Kafka 2. QB: don't really care; just don't give up draft capital and reach for a quick fix; we have no quick fix. Get a free agent for cheap and start getting Corral and whomever we draft reps. 3. Draft: take Young, Stroud, or Levis if they drop. If not, trade back. If no trade back is worth it take the best at position of need for wr, lb, edge. 4. FA: Lavonte David lb, David Long lb, Jakobi Meyers wr. One of these three would eliminate a draft need.
-
Wilkes at 5 and Reich at 10 is laughable. Maybe that is being pushed so he won't sue us when he doesn't get the job. Steichen, Johnson, or Kafka...let's get it done and move on. No way cheap ass Tepper who has a fake turf field and tried to rip off a small South Carolina town is going to invest the money and contract length that Payton would demand.
-
We gave up a draft pick to move down. That is a wasted pick for someone you think only has back up potential. Fitterer and McAdoo obviously liked him: Also, pretty funny how people think Sam Howell is a franchise qb after a poor outing with 57.9% completion percentage. Both might be great or terrible. We don't have a big enough sample size to make that determination. One thing is for sure, Wilkes just did just enough to totally screw us for drafting a qb this year.
-
So you think his ceiling is backup? That means we wasted a pick on him. The truth is the he hasn't played enough for anyone to know what his ceiling is.
-
Guys who are in line to be a head coach aren't making a lateral move to come to Carolina and coach w/ a has been.
-
And some people think Chicago should trade Fields and draft a qb. He led them to the worst record in the NFL. I think Chicago trades the 1 pick for a team to take a qb and Houston takes a qb and we are left w/ Levis in that scenario.
-
Hell no. I think the league is changing it's tune w/ respect to running qb's. Chicago may move on from Fields, Baltimore may move on from Jackson, etc. Running qb's have the same career expectancy as rb's and we know what happened to NFL's view of rb's. And some of us want to take a slightly larger but much less talented qb in Anthony Richardson w/ the nine pick. That guaranteed contract demand is deal breaker. Might as well just give Chicago the nine for Fields and tell him no way on guaranteed deal.
-
1. Young 2. Stroud..............3. Levis...............................4. Richardson. The good news is that i don't think a new coach will want to take on a long term project in Richardson. He would likely be fired before Richardson gets a start.

Under No Circumstances Should We Trade a Haul for a QB/Pick
rebelrouser replied to tukafan21's topic in Carolina Panthers
He said trade a haul, which i take to mean at least two ones. If we want Chicago's pick, we will need to give up a haul. -
Matt Waldman's Breakdown of Anthony Richardson (QB, Florida)
rebelrouser replied to Lemory's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
This is a much better option after the oline improvement. -
I understand Tepper is rich but that doesn't mean he knows what he is doing as an NFL owner. I said it before, Tepper is the dumbest owner in the NFL period.

Matt Waldman's Breakdown of Anthony Richardson (QB, Florida)
rebelrouser replied to Lemory's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
I will count you as the first. I am an Ole Miss fan, and I like Corral but doubt he ends up as a staring NFL qb, but we drafted him and should see what he has. How are we going to get Corral and AR practice snaps next year? -
If you want to get the #1 pick from the Bears, what's your move?
rebelrouser replied to EgoDogg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Trading into spot for Young or Stroud would be too expensive, Levis could fall to 9 anyway (seeing this more and more in mocks), and no way in hell you give anything away to go after AR. I would take Levis at 9 (25% chance) or AR with our first second round pick (10% or less chance). -
Matt Waldman's Breakdown of Anthony Richardson (QB, Florida)
rebelrouser replied to Lemory's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
Wow. I have yet to meet someone who regularly watches SEC ball who thinks AR does not suck. Starting him day 1 would be comical. -
So which QB do we think will be available at #9?
rebelrouser replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Only Anthony Richardson, and maybe not even him, will last to nine. -
Dream scenario. Remember when we had Baker, Sam, and Corral and Corral got virtually zero snaps? Well that is what is going to happen to any qb we take in the draft. We need a starter, already have Corral, and then you want to hand over all of our draft picks for a 3rd qb? Doesn't make sense unless Young or Stroud drop. Anthony Richardson never developed as a qb in college; he is a loooooong term project. I could live with Levis at 9.
-
Tankathon has us at 9. Didn't our staff think of Corral as a first round talent? I would rather see us trade back and take the best available te,wr, edge, or lb. We could get a qb with the added draft picks. Anthony Richardson isn't turning into Josh Allen.
