  1. I don't get all the Ian Thomas hate... he's not great, but he deserves a roster spot. He was a mixed bag yesterday, but certainly no worse than any of our other (practically non-existent) TE's... For all his flaws, he made an excellent block for CMC that helped us to to ice the game. I don't know that he will be back next year, but cutting him now isn't going to do the first thing to help up win games.
  2. This. Phil Snow is playing with a full deck this season, and it shows. Snow was a DAWG calling plays out there yesterday. Again, I don't care who we were playing, that defensive performance yesterday was the best we have seen in 3 years. This is a playoff caliber defense... offense and ST gotta step up
  3. I don't care if we were playing freaking Bishop Sycamore out there yesterday, the Panthers defense was fugging LEGIT... The Jets had 2 1st rounders starting on that line. You can make all the excuses you want, but these are professionals, and the Panthers defense had their way with them for a lot of the game. I'll give Zach Wilson a lot of credit... I still don't know how he got up from that Derrick Brown hit... that was as violent of a legal QB hit as I have seen in a while... It's early, but this defense is starting to remind me of the 1996 defense for those of us old enough to remember... still a LONG way to go to proclaim these guys are as good as the '96 squad, but what a start. Pressure coming from anywhere and everywhere... Phil Snow had these boys cooking yesterday!!
  4. You usually have to go to LiveLeak to see videos of a man being killed... but here you go...
  5. Defense including secondary played well. Losing Myles Hartfield is more of a loss than the casual fan would think. He was playing really well in the nickel and Bouye will be out next week again against the Saints
  6. This was a great strategic move.. Tom Brady was complaining the other day how the number changes were making it harder to identify guys on defense Rhule playing 3D chess with Zach Wilson out here...
  7. Good move that I figured would happen. OK with Chuba returning kicks, but we need an experienced PR. Erickson has shown some promise in the past... hoping for solid returns and no fumbles
  8. Offense: Deonte Brown- hope he is starting sooner than later Defense: Marquis Haynes and YGM. Been a few years since we've had rotational guys that I think can make some noise
  9. I'm an optimistic and I have zero idea this year... it all comes down to the offensive line and Darnold, and no one being honest should feel overly confident about either of those until we actually see it on the field in games that count
  10. We're in no position to crap on a formerly underperforming QB who's hoping to thrive in a new environment... Plenty (and maybe the majority) of non-hardcore Panthers fans are all saying the exact same thing
  11. He's not objective... he can't be... I'm sure even a father couldn't deny the emerging greatness of Brian Burns...
  12. Terrace and Shi may end up being the best 2nd best WR class we've ever had (with the caveat being 2001 b/c Smitty alone)
  13. This team values Ian Thomas much more than the fans evidently. When I was at practice, he got a lot of reps with the 1's. I think he is going to get way more playing time in this offense than people think. Reading the tea leaves, the offense we have shown in the preseason much be radically different than what we plan to run when the season starts
  14. I don't mind the idea of playing smashmouth football and leaning on this defense, I just question whether we have the personnel to actually run it...
  15. I think this offense may look a lot more like something we would have ran under John Fox than anything we've seen recently
  16. Must be planning on CMC getting a massive workload and running a lot of 21 and 22 personnel... and some major changes to the offense I agree with you about the weird roster part, but I also felt that way to start the 2015 season too when we went into some games with only J-Stew and Tolbert as the active backs and only 4-5 WR active... Not saying there are any similarities beyond that, though. It certainly does appear this team is planning to grind the clock and count on the defense stepping up... I hope it works.
  17. I can't imagine we won't pick up a 6th WR, but then again, the move of Ricci to fullback, keeping 4 other TE's... Brady must be planning some significant changes to the offense from last year
  18. Both Terrace Marshall and Shi Smith outplayed him IMO, and Zylstra is a core ST guy Would imagine this means the PR job is Shi's once he's healthy... do we risk putting DJ back there until then?
  19. Must be planning to run a lot of 21 and 22 personnel this year Plan on running the ball a lot and having guys back to help block with this offensive line and rely on our WRs to win down the field
  20. Surprised by the David Moore release... must have tried to trade him and found no takers... He wasn't really going to have a role on offense outside of PR/KR without injuries, and he didn't play on other ST roles Good news for Shi Smith... hopefully he is back in a few weeks... seems to be more dynamic than Moore, and the team obviously has plans for him
  21. Glad this team is being run by professionals who seem to have a plan beyond basically flunking the draft after the 1st round and handing out contracts we regret before the ink is dry...
  22. Thanks for the recap OP... really appreciate it
