I'm sure Smitty's commentary was not as soft as the Panthers would have liked it to be, but I don't think Smitty was trying to be just mean there. I think he's keeping it real about how physically and mentally abusive this violent sport that we all enjoy, can be

I honestly don't mind Smitty bc I think he's really not just dogging Slye (or anyone else), but he's also pulling the curtain back on just how brutal the NFL is both physically and mentally to these young men. It's also a reminder that the things that are "extra" about Smitty are the very things that allowed a 5'9" receiver to play 15+ plus years in this cutthroat league -

You tell Taylor Z is afraid to say anything off-brand, and Smitty absolutely DGAF!! It's a great combo -

Smitty is incredible. Him and Taylor Z are good together. I would listen to them all season long -

Didn't think of it that way when he first missed the kick, but you're right... he knows... he seems like a great guy and somebody you want to see succeed, but he just couldn't handle the pressure -

Me too... I want to see how we stack up against what is expected to be a top offense If the offense can do anything, we will be competitive -

It will be soul crushing to have these offensive weapons and not be successful bc of an atrocious offensive line and a shell shocked QB... -
I would argue that at least Steussie and Henning had some success here before bottoming out... Jeff Davidson & Jimmy Clausen were in over their heads from the jump and it never got better. In more recent history I would say Eric Washington and Tahir Whitehead jump out.

Winner winner chicken dinner. Clear answer... any other suggestions are (dis)honorable mentions in my book.

Agree with most everything other than I think they will keep PJ over Grier and in lieu of keeping a FB, either Christian Miller or Phil Hoskins makes the team

Yep. It definitely made sense in the short-term, but if the Rams don't win I could see the fanbase turning on Stafford quickly as they become disgruntled at the realization this team is soon going to have salary cap issues without the draft capital to try to compensate. The Rams are incredibly top-heavy with the talent they've acquired and/or traded for, but their depth at certain positions is still suspect (as is every team), and they are going to have few avenues to improve it with the almost comical lack of draft picks they have over the next 3 years. Matt Stafford is 100% going to have to be a better version of himself for the next 3-5 years and truly be a franchise type QB to justify the trade. I would take Stafford over Darnold right now, but not with the draft capital that was given up. Rhule & Fitterer really have done a good job of restocking the roster and maneuvering the cap to put the team in a great position going forward. The QB position still looms large, but overall, I genuinely believe it was better for both parties for Stafford to not come here, and certainly not for the draft capital.

Maybe... or you could look at it from the standpoint that this is perhaps the first time in franchise history where we are establishing a legitimate receiving corp that can be maintained for hopefully more than a year or two. When this team starts drafting WR's as shrewdly as the Steelers have, then maybe you have a point. Myself, I'm just happy after 20 years we are finally developing (and hopefully sustaining) a receiver corp that we can actually be proud of (beyond the fleeting moment we had Smitty & Moose together)
