  1. This is a legitimate concern... and the idea that it is going to be solved 2 weeks before the season is probably a pipe dream I honestly think Darnold will be a decent QB with all the weapons he has, but there were times, especially early on, against the Steelers backups where Darnold was having to abandon the pocket immediately due to pressure ala Mahomes in the Super Bowl... no QB is going to do well with immediate pressure up the gut.
  2. I get the continued concern about the offensive line... I share it big time, especially on the left side. And Paradis has been overpaid the whole time he's been here. Unfortunately, short of guys playing better than expected and/or schemed around, it's going to be an issue all year. As for LB, I think the coaching staff views LB as more settled than a lot of fans do. The emergence of Jermaine Carter & Frankie Luvu is a big deal. Shaq is solid even if he is overpaid. Reddick is going to get a lot of playing time. Chinn is also going to line up a lot more as a LB than I think the coaching staff wants to let on. I think we are going to play a lot of 3 safety looks with Chinn, Burris, and Sam Franklin where Chinn is in a hybrid role. Rhule has given Phil Snow everything he has wanted since he's been here... I think if Snow felt we needed another LB it would happen
  3. I hope Hoskins doesn't get poached. Miller could too though I think less likely
  4. I've learned to love the contrarians... When this team starts doing well again, this guy will be posting under a different alt acting like the biggest homer around... I've seen a lot in this place since the Carolina Growl days of the early 00's... nothing is more predictable than to watch a negative/over-the-top homer poster completely drop off when the teams fortunes change... I could be wrong but at this point I just view it as an alt game...
  5. This... I'm sure Darryl Johnson would have been happy to have made the Bills roster, but I guarantee you he is a happy man today knowing he will be on a NFL roster come Wednesday (and will hopefully get some playing time that will raise his profile and likelihood of getting paid)
  6. No, he's excited to be on a team where he will get some playing time, b/c that is his ticket to get paid. For the most part, I think only veterans who have made some money have the luxury of thinking that way... most NFL players know (or learn quickly) that the NFL is a business more than anything, and getting a SB as a fringe roster player may be great, but his agent is reminding him that he may be pawning that same ring in 10-20 years if he can't make some money... I think that is much more of a thing in the NBA where basically everyone is making stupid money at this point b/c the rosters are so small.
  7. I'd be willing to part with David Moore for a LG especially... with TMJ emerging I don't know how many snaps and/or targets on offense he will actually see. I don't think the team views LB as big a need as we fans do. RG is actually one of the positions with decent depth with Miller & Brown... LG is atrocious (I was really hoping Daley was going to win the job)
  8. All we can do is put in a waiver claim and hope...
  9. Meh... just used the draft pick we got from the Raiders for Perryman to get Johnson... net zero in gained or lost draft picks Only real hole we have in next year's draft after all the wheeling and dealing Fitterer has done is the 2nd next year for Darnold
  10. I agree with a lot of your posts, but respectfully, you are in left field on this... Haynes was solid last year (5.5 sacks which was 2nd on the team) and has had an excellent TC and preseason. He is going to get substantial playing time this year. This move is bad news for Christian Miller/ maybe Phil Hoskins... Haynes will 100% make this roster
  11. He definitely played ST, but you're right that I don't ever remember him making an impact. And Johnson is several years younger
  12. I don't think so... I really think Rhule and company just wanted another more traditional 4-3 guy Burns, Haynes, & Reddick are size-wise more in the mold of a 3-4 OLB. I know they can play DE in a 4-3 alignment, but they don't really have the size to move inside to pass rush on 3rd down. Will also be a core ST player- led the Bills in preseason tackles on ST, which is impressive for a big guy
  13. Gives them another guy besides YGM and Fox. I'm not hating it, just wonder why we just didn't keep Efe Obada instead Does give Snow so many options in this multiple defense he is creating.
  14. The only contrarian thing I'll say is this, why not just keep Efe Obada who could also pass rush from the interior?? Kind of like the deal of trying to replace Alex Armah with Ricci... I have liked most of the moves Rhule/Fitterer have made, but those 2 stand out as question marks... In the end this particular trade isn't really going to be anything more than a wash for Perryman who evidently wasn't a fit here and was expendable with the emergence of Carter & Luvu Overall, there seems to have been a solid market for Darryl Johnson, and I'm loving having an aggressive GM. Phil Snow has to be a happy man. He has been given a lot of pieces to work with. I'm excited about the defense b/c I think Snow has a chance to really do something innovative with the versatility of this defense... I'm thinking/hoping for something that takes the league by storm like Dom Capers did in 1996 (for those of us old enough to remember) where you never knew where the pressure was coming from...
  15. I think he was brought here b/c he showed ability to pass rush on obvious passing downs from the inside, something it seems they were looking for. Right now, the best guys are YGM and Morgan Fox. We have the big body guys like Brown, Jones, Roy, & Nixon and smaller, faster Edge guys like Burns, Haynes, Reddick, etc. that aren't big enough for interior pass rushing. At least that's what I think reading the tea leaves. Darryl Johnson is supposedly very good on ST also
  16. Yep. Not good news for Phil Hoskins IMO too... will probably try to stash him on the PS
  17. Death knell for Christian Miller. May mean Phil Hoskins is headed to the PS also
  18. Darnold didn't look like a world beater but he did look like a capable starting QB. The last 3 throws he made were as good as I've seen a Panthers QB make in a long time. If the offensive line does their job, Darnold won't have to play hero ball. The weapons he has here are legit, and we can win if he can out the ball accurately and on time in their hands. Love the fact that he seemed to have chemistry with all 3 of Robby, DJ, and TMJ
  19. Great point. CMC is our best weapon against our offensive line being overwhelmed by the pass rush. I hope Brady calls one early against the Jets to give them something to think about. For all their struggles Friday, perhaps the block blocking play may have been on that TMJ screen that went for paydirt
  20. Good point, especially the part about Chinn. Probably good news for guys like Myles Hartfield and Kenny Robinson trying to grab the last few roster spots.
  21. True. Was just wondering if anyone knew what the reasons were. Only thing I read was maybe a money issue. This defense looks like it has top 10 potential and I would hate to see it derailed bc of LB, especially bc historically that unit has generally been the most settled for the Panthers defense and this year its the biggest question mark.
  22. It's both weird and refreshing to actually have depth at WR...
  23. Had the Seahawks/Chargers preseason game on and didn't realize KJ Wright was still unsigned. With the Fitterer connection and our need for LBs, was curious what everyone thoughts were. Is this a Russell Okung type situation where Wright is holding out for money than teams are offering or is there something more to it? Seems odd Wright is still unsigned bc to my knowledge he was solid last year even though he is getting older. Would think the Panthers should have interest unless there is something I don't know.
  24. Sam Darnold certainly may not be the guy, but I don't think this fanbase could have stomached another season of Teddy...
  25. Thank you. People like conspiracy theories bc they are exciting and fit into our evolved brain's need to form a narrative from disparate events. The problem remains that human beings are awful at keeping their mouths shut... it's why actual conspiracies involving more than a few people almost anyways fall apart...
