Jermain Carter Highest PFF Panther LB Last Year
SBBlue replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
Panthers LB Jermaine Carter shares what he learned from Luke Kuechly (msn.com) "Carter did an excellent job at Kuechly’s former middle linebacker spot last year after Tahir Whitehead was benched starting in Week 11. Carolina’s defense finished the season strong in no small part due to Carter’s efforts." “Some things Luke taught me, I’d watch TV copies of other teams, pick up the verbiage they were saying, and he taught me so much of that; how to break down film by situations instead of just watching the whole game, like first down one day, third down another. Little things like that I learned from Luke. . . he’s going to be a Hall of Famer; he’s one of the best to ever play”" -

I was still adjusting, I missed Cam and Luke. Bridgewater and Whitehead were poor substitutes. Rhule on the other hand....multiple fake punts, slow walking dline substitutions to force timeouts, going for it repeatedly on 4th at mid field....I loved Rhule's aggressiveness. I didn't miss RR. We should have been blown out last year over and over, but we were a scrappy well coached young team. By the end of season, Teddy's play was so bad, it was getting hard to watch.

Notice its from Glenwo2. My reply^^^ You entering the conversation^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^Me pointing out that that 3.6% to 3.0% is a 16.7% reduction in joking fashion. Seriously, not everything is a war dude. We know his stats aren't good. You've made the point over and over and over. You don't have to wage war against every stat.
-
Its true, Cam didn't have many weapons, which is why he should do better this year. It was hard to watch honestly.
-
I'm not refuting your stats. I agree with them. 3.0<3.6. That is improvement. See? Not all bad.
-
I didn't post the ints by year dude. You're arguing with @glenwo2 through me. Sheesh.
-
You really thought that @glenwo2 meant Darnold had a 15% Interception RATE? Ok.
-
Citing Sams ints by year is not "literally inventing something that isn't real" You are literally using the word "literally" wrong. Does it lack context? Yes, but the stat is NOT invented and is LITERALLY real.
-
Sam Darnold had 364 pass attempts last year. Teddy had 492. Sam is going to be throwing a lot more than he did last year in a new system to new receivers. They will be better designed palys and high percentage throws to better receivers and behind a better oline. (Yes I said it, our left-tackle-less oline is still better than last years jets line.) That said, more throws generally parlays to more ints. If he does 500 attempts and only 9 ints, that will be awesome.

Discounting and ignoring any positives isn't more realistic than pointing them out.

I great analysis of the ghosts game: The Patriots made Sam Darnold and Patrick Mahomes see ghosts with the exact same blitz - YouTube I agree. Single digits is a tall order.

Oh I like them, if anything its the opposite. I liked them MORE after they came out against BC. Before I would listen to them from time to time, now I'm subscribed. Its hard to find good in depth reviews on BC. After the draft review on CP3 when they railed on the Brady pick, I wanted to understand why. They essentially dedicated a whole show to him. So I took their advice and watched the film they said to watch and what to look for. Its a great podcast. They just do NOT like BC. Part of it is legitimate, part of it was just because he wasn't on their board. They admit they didn't watch much tape on him until after the draft. I just enjoy watching PNP Rashad and Dave more.
-
I like 4 Man Rush too, but they do NOT like BC, he was not on their board. My fav is PNP Rashad and Dave.

There's really no purpose for us to be on the Huddle in early July. We're just passing the time.

That's what offseason discussions are all about, likelihood and probability. Its unlikely that the oline will do well. Its unlikely Sam will ball out. It seems very unlikely that both Sam and oline will do well. Tepper is patently better at betting than either of us. He bet on Rhule and Fitt, and they bet on Sam and this line. I didn't understand the Rhule, Sam or the line choices, so I researched them and shared my findings here.

I do too. What else can we do? The dude does not look good on paper. He's not the turnover machine some describes, but he has bottom of the league performance. Our coaches and management have concluded there's something there. Maybe there is. I appreciate you here keeping us grounded. It'd be boring otherwise.
-
Ahh yes, but down 16.7% from his rookie season. See? Improvement. I was wondering when you going to show and bestow your realism on us.
-
I would agree with that and I still see Erving as swing tackle. He did have moderate success at Guard with KC, starting 13 games when they won the AFC championship, they kept him but he then battled injury starting only 8 the year they won the SB. Both Erving and Eiflin can play center and I see as depth pieces. I guess their strategy is throw a bunch of depth pieces at it and see what cream rises to the top while easing the rookies in. In the end, someone if someone gets hurt, we now we have 4 players who can play center, 4 who can play tackle and bunch who can play guard.

Oh, you Sunshine Squad people, always looking for hope.

5 Carolina Panthers players facing an uphill battle at training camp
SBBlue replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
Looking at records against top 25 teams, is an interesting stat, I'm not sure it shows the whole picture. Many teams, in the top 25, have losing records against top 25 teams. For example, in 2015 Notre Dame, GT, Navy, Florida all had losing records against top 25 teams, but were still ranked top 25. ND was 8 several times throughout the season and as high as 4 near the end. Did they all suck? -
More love from ESPN, this time from analyst Matt Bowen.

We got a 6th for Teddy and Allen and nothing for Cam, I can't even see a 7th for Grier.
