Correction. The Rams didn't draft ANY offensive linemen this year and they drafted only ONE last year. A guard in the 7th round. Sorry about that.

Such a cutie wootie little guy.

If the Lions hadn't drafted Sewel, we would have. We know he was on the board above Horn. The first signings in FA were OL on the first day, and our results, at least so far with Erving are on par with other FA's. They don't give a sht about his pff scores, nor should they. We traded UP to get Brady Christensen at the TOP of the 3rd. Meaning the value of the pick was actually higher than where we picked. He is the ONLY player they have traded up for. He is still developing and looked better than many rookies in their first game at tackle on the opposite side of where he's played. This notion that they don't value OL is just BS. Had we drafted Tevin Jenkins, at 39, the spot we traded out of in the top of the second, we would be in a worse position, because he hasn't played a snap due to injury. Trading down gave us Tremble, Chubba, and Nixon, who have all contributed. The only data Stafford had was the 2020 data. We had a LOWER pressure% in pass pro than the Rams! They had 16 more QB hits than we did. So what you are saying is Stafford looked and said, I want to get hit 16 more times a season, so Rams it is. 2020 NFL Advanced Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com Had Stafford came here, we would have certainly drafted OL in the first, just like the Rams did and Stafford could have negotiated that, and probably did. Stafford didn't want to be here because A)We were in total rebuild and he wants to contend B)We are a small market team The OL will be certainly be a priority this coming offseason.

Hey thanks. The line will look better when starters return and Brady/Wrs/Sam get the time to throw down. It will be mediocre, but that is better than what we have seen the last 3 games.

Sam Darnold press conference after Philidelphia game
SBBlue replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
The jets sucked at nearly everything from punting, to pass d, to rushing. I don't know how you get so bad without actually trying. -

Yes. Yes it is. -
Yeah, I think Brady could eventually be a good LT. This short arm crap is NOT supported by the data. Meyer and Rhule are wrong on this one. I know it's pff but: Does Arm Length Affect OT Play? | PFF News & Analysis | PFF

Yeah its hard to tell where the problem lies. The 2019 line was BAD. We led the league in sacks with 58, but somehow was 3rd in YBC/Att. CMC is some of it. But we had CMC this year for the first few games and the YBC/Att was actually LESS than 2. Believe it or not, it went up this week with Chubba.
-
Ass. Both last year and this year. We are currently at 2.0 YBC/Att which is 26th in the league. Last year we were 25th at 2.1 2021 NFL Advanced Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com That is nearly identical to what Brady saw at the Saints in 2018 and Pat Meyer saw at the Chargers in 2019. There was a complete drop off last year when they arrived in 2020. In 2019, Panthers had the 3rd best YBC/Att in the league at 3.1. I think scheme is hurting us there. Brady was a passing coordinator in LSU. He doesn't know how to scheme an effective run game.

This is a big game for both teams. Both see this as a winnable necessary game to make the playoffs. Both coaches are going to pull no punches. We can run on them, so we will, CMC or Chubba will get yards. Passes will be short and quick. Our D will be hungry and Snow won't make the same mistake he made in the Dallas game. If the zebras play fair, we win, but it will low scoring. 17-10 Panthers

Yes. Sorry I actually was referring to the offensive line and their performance.
-
We had the 10th best pressure% in the league last year with mostly the same line. Paradis, Miller and Moton retuned. Elflein is on par with Reed, and Erving's stats are on par with Okung/Scott/Daley/Little at LT last year. The pocket time is higher than last year. Sam's time to throw average is longer at 2.9s compared to 2.57s for Teddy last year and it is getting longer each game.

Jason Peters 39 yo 1.8M 1year PFF 73 Penalties:1 Sacks: 3 Looks like Peters is kicking ass, especially for a 39 year old lineman. The dude was drafted in 2004. He's allowed 2 more sacks than Cam on 20 fewer snaps, but PFF loves him.
-
You're right, Riley's PFF is higher. Riley actually costs 50% more than Cam. Riley is 7.5M for 1 year, Cam is 10M for 2 years. But we should be willing to pay more for this position. Haeg hasn't seen the field much, in fact he has 1/3 of the snaps of Cam. On that alone his value drops substantially. I'm not saying by season end that Haeg won't turn out to be better than Cam. He might.
-
They sure don't.
-
Hopefully he continues to be a serviceable LT for the rest of the season.
-
I hope so. I wonder if they will try to trade down in the first since we don't have a 2nd rounder.
-
Against the Vikings, it looks like we will have the lineup that we used at the Saints game. Lets hope they perform like they did in the Saints game.

The Philly game performance was horrible.

Maybe at some point. Slater, Brown and Cosmi are doing well I think. Leatherwood and Mayfield aren't (30s pff, 4sacks or more, 5 penalties or more). I know Darrisaw ( pick 23) and Jenkins(pick 39) have played 28 snaps between them.
-
Your right, not much choice. 5M/yr for 2 years is quite reasonable for a starting tackle. If Erving plays like he did the first 3 games, for the rest of the season, it doesn't look like that bad a deal. Jury is out on that one imo. Elflein is another story, when he was on the field, he wasn't as bad as people said and he is CERTAINLY better than Daley. But he's been out 3 games. 4.5/yr for 3 years seems too high for what we are getting so far. Hopefully he turns things around, mostly because the alternatives look worse at this point.
