I may have misread this, you may be referring to the Marshall pick, not the 39 pick. I guess they saw a drop off in skill after the first round and felt Christenson with a near perfect RAS score and highest pff in the draft was rated too low because of his age and wingspan...he was the one they wanted and they felt confident he would fall later....and he did...just not as far as they thought so they traded up to get him.

This video helps a little bit. Had we taken a high graded tackle at 39 we would have effectively given up: Terrace Marshal, Tommy Tremble, Chuba Hubbard, Davioyn Nixon and Keith Taylor. So the question becomes, is the difference between Jenkins and Christensen equal to the value brought by those other guys because that is what we would have to give up to get him.

Fantasy-wise...its us and Tampa Bay dueling it out at the end of the season to win the division. Reality-wise it's whoever we play next, because we're a team with a losing record that doesn't matter to anyone but ourselves.

Darnold may well bust, and the historical odds are, he will. But he did not keep Bell to 3.2 yards a game, or cause the defense to give up yards and touch downs. QB's are important. They are not magical gods.

We should beat the jets, and I want Darnold to light them up. It will not be a good sign to lose that game. That said... The Jets in 2020 had the toughest schedule in the league with a .594 SOS. They beat two winning, playoff teams, Cleveland (11-5) and the Rams (10-6). Any. Given. Sunday. We did NOT beat a single winning team last year. Our record, might have been similar if we played the same schedule. Some of their difficulties were caused by their competition.

I liked it. It was a puff piece and clearly some of it, reality tv staged (based on camera positions). I appreciate it, just not enough if the filming was a hindrance to Fit, Rhule, Tepper and co. But it seems they were comfortable with it and were able to do an amazing job and get filmed at the same time. Kudos to the media dept. Nicely done.

Retreads aren't sexy that's for sure. How quickly we'll see results....in that respect, Darnold is going to get a better shake than Bridgewater. Sam will have a full preseason. Teddy didn't get that. Teams with lots of transition last year were certainly at a disadvantage. I was really surprised we were close in so many games.

I didn't like letting Cam go. I didn't like the Bridgewater trade. I didn't like the Darnold trade. I wanted Lance or Fields. Hit rates on drafted Qbs and reclaim projects are both low. Is a reclaim projects odds lower? Maybe. Its a small dataset and its situational and that is why I dug a little into the situation. Sam Darnold has been running for his life trying to make miracles happen, in quite possibly the most mismanaged team in football as exemplified by their performance in nearly every aspect of the game. Bottom of the league in punting, kick off, kick return, blocking and running. They had trouble SNAPPING THE BALL. We all saw Mahommes fall to earth behind an injury riddled line. Darnold may bust. Fields and Lance may bust. You're not a homer for questioning the Darnold move. I'm not one for digging into the situation.

This is my last reply because I hate this thread....if the rumor is true, I hate it, and if its false I hate the rumor. OTA's are optional, that's what the O stands for. There are many deserving vets who need a break from football unlike us un-athletic keyboard jockeys. I am not going to read into this situation anymore and until evidence otherwise, I'm going to assume there's nothing there.
