  1. I love this post. Wow. Depth at tight end, what a concept.
  2. I agree, and would add two things. QBR should reflect decision making to an extent. If you are seeing the field, following your reads, hitting open receivers, not throwing ints, that is going to be reflected in a higher QBR. I understand QBR is not a perfect measure. I would argue Tannehills decision making was on par with Darnolds. Tannehill threw 9 ints in 11 games that last year, to Darnolds 11 ints in 12 games. Secondly, Scheme affects decision making ability. If the design sucks, the reads suck, and its 4th down, you try to make something happen. Also Gase has been accused of discouraging audibles because he doesn't trust his QBs post Manning.
  3. I likey. This is great news.
  4. Adam Gase was coach of Miami 2016,2017 & 2018 and the jets 2019 & 2020 Tannehill QBRs under Gase were: 45.6, 48.6 and 33.2 for an average of 42.5 Ryan Tannehill Stats | ESPN Darold's QBRs under Gase were: 45.6 and 40.1 for an average of 42.9 Sam Darnold Stats | ESPN This surprised me...but under Gase, Darnold's QBR was higher than Tannehill's. Tannehill was ranked 32nd by QBR in 2018, his last year under Gase. In 2019 after he left Gase, he was ranked 9th in the regular season, and 4th out 12 in the postseason. 2018 NFL Season Leaders Total QBR | ESPN In 2018, when Tannehill was under Gase, Darnold was under Bowles. Darnold, as a rookie, was ranked higher than Tannehil that year. 2018 NFL Season Leaders Total QBR | ESPN Tannehill's QBR went from 33.2 to 64.2 after he left Gase. Where will Darnolds 40.1 QBR go to?
  5. I think Scott did just fine last year. I think he's going to give BC a run for his money. I'm really interested to see if David Moore blossoms like Scott.
  6. How would you compare him to Scott who had 4 starts against the Bucs, Lions,Det,WFT? I'm wondering if at one point we will have 2 UDFA from Grambling starting on our line.
  7. I was trying to look for BC's performance against good competition. So I watched some tape. The guy is not a mauler, he's a frustrating moving wall for opponents. He doesn't even try to put them in the dirt, just keep them from making the play which he succeeds at most of the time. He faced Payton Turner from Houston, 1st rounder to Saints. Now Houston moves their guys around a lot so he wasn't up against him every play. BC largely did the job. One play though Payton juked, went inside and got the sack. BYU OL vs Houston 2020 - YouTube
  8. I can see where it looks like that. I was bristling at the "entire league knew", as if there was consensus, not controversy. I'm trying to say other teams miss a lot too, the profiles list strengths and weaknesses and the overall draft grades given are often off from where they taken and then don't predict NFL performance or durability as exemplified by our own line with some serviceable UDFAs and horrid early rounders. Hindsight 20/20 and all that.
  9. With 17 games, it seems more likely that 9 or 10 games might not do the job.
  10. In fact, in 2018, when Tannehill was under Gase, Darnold was under Bowles. Darnold, as a rookie, was ranked higher than Tannehil that year. 2018 NFL Season Leaders Total QBR | ESPN Sorry I should have put that all in one post.
  11. BTW, Tannehill was ranked 32nd by QBR in 2018, his last year under Gase. In 2019 after he left Gase, he was ranked 9th in the regular season, and 4th out 12 in the postseason. 2018 NFL Season Leaders Total QBR | ESPN
  12. Wow, you're more optimistic than I am. I am just hoping for 8, but I want to beat at least one winning team.
  13. 14. Nobody is asserting that LIttle wasn't controversial here, so no need to look it up. My point was that he was controversial. The published grades I found were 2 others had as a 3. He didn't combine well, Hurney didn't get the memo.
  15. Ummm, all you did was cherry pick the weaknesses of the pages of strength and weakness...which most profiles provide. I pulled the conclusion. The big font is really cool though.
  16. Not sure who the "sunshine squad" are. Is there a "sky is falling" crew? My point on this thread is that draft profiles and predictions are often wrong as exemplified by our own oline.
  17. This one says his disappointment in the combine makes him a RT, not "DONT draft him in the second. I can't find a grade at all. It lists BOTH positives and negatives. Sewel has already been moved to RT...does he suck? Once again, no draft grade in your quote , which is the whole point of the discussion. From the same site: Surprisingly nimble on his deeper pass sets, showing desirable foot speed and cadence to drive off of the LOS and frame his blocks effectively. Covers a notable amount of ground to sustain outside integrity, shows trust in flipping hips late to run defenders past the QB. Length/Extension -Length is evident and shows good extension, particularly when tested with speed around the edge. More of a positional blocker that does well to establish body positioning and seal lanes. Can turn opponents out of gaps and create modest space.... Has good mobility with his feet and has enough spring to keep up around the edge track. .... This is cherry picked from the same site above. Looking further in site they have multiple opinions but... It does include 3rd round projection..so that at least support's your point. So lets say this site was definitive and it was Greg Little 3rd rounder, has he even shown more than UDFA Scott? And that's my point. These sites disagree, fan-sites disagree, because we can not predict the future with certainty. Not just us, most teams have had UDFA as starters and high round busts. Christiansen probably wont be Gross, but he won't be Little either. Draft profile, draft grade, draft position is not definitive.
  18. Dude those exact sites say the exact opposite. I used them to support my position:
  19. Uh-huh Thats fine, I looked, you're going to have a very hard time finding reputable sources beyond messageboards warning people off Little. I couldn't find any...soooo. BTW, Keuchley, that's a pretty big miss. I seriously couldn't find the "entire league" posts on why everyone knew Little sucked. I'm done looking, right now I think it only exists on messageboards. I wouldn't mind so much if he panned out. He hasn't yet.
  20. Very very few draft profiles fail to list a bunch of cons for even first round draft picks. I remember reading about Cam's personal/offield concerns and his decision making. The draftniks complain when a player is drafted because he wasn't their player and if he busts, he goes "see I told you so." When they're wrong, well, there are very few crow posts here. Meanwhile the draftniks fav busted as well... Draft grade/draft rank/draft position/ draftnik opinion, and fan opinion don't have that much predictive value.
  21. The entire league? All we know is he wasn't chosen in the first round. Most projections were 2nd round. We took him top of the second, we don't know who would have taken him where. When people complain about draft picks, they act like they know how a prospect will turn out...or what the "entire league" is thinking. Someone might have drafted him before or after us...we don't know. I showed you predraft profiles from legitimate sites. Where are your profiles that say "DO NOT DRAFT GREG LITTLE!"
  22. No offense to the "draft nuts", but y'all don't all agree....and some projected busts succeed and vice versa. I believe there is a huge difference between: we did nothing to address a glaring need and we did something different than what the fans/draft nuts wanted. People worrying about safety here, have a legit gripe, because we've essentially done nothing. People worried about the oline should wait and see if Christiansen, Brown, and Moore pan out.
