There's a way to go before the season, we don't know who will become available. All I'm saying is, we shouldn't rule out anyone because we're not SB bound. No you weren't. All we would have is more cap space even after your 2020 hindsight. Indications are not guarantees. Some surprise, some disappoint. Some do what you expect. Some get injured. Its real easy in hindsight to point out where we wasted cash. So please demonstration your prescience. List every player we will waste cash on this year. I'll save the thread. We all know some are going to disappoint or get injured, please tell us exactly who they are so we can get word to Rhule. Tom is still bitching that teams passed on him. It easy to say that the Bucs were just a couple of pieces away from a SB now in hindsight. It wasn't that easy during the season when they couldn't even manage to win the division. We should play to win. I don't think Rhule is in the hot seat, but I want him to coach like it.

Is the bottle neck the qb or the coach? You can't just move. You have to move to a coach and scheme that works. Are you worried about DJ, Robbie, D. Moore, or Arnold getting the job done?

I have been thinking 8 wins for a while now. Just above the line. Yesterday I learned that Tannehill's ints% were 3.1% and 3.3% his last 2 years with Miami before he went to Ten and they dropped to 2.1%. Brees' int% was 3.0% his first full season. It went to 4.2% his second season. The year before he went to the Saints offense Bees int% was 3.0%. Then in NO it dropped to 2.0%. Sam's int% was 3.0% last year, lower than Tannehills and the same as Brees before their moves. And the jets coaching/scheme/oline/rbs/wrs were just sooo bad. I wonder if NO and Ten messagecboards were talking about the new "turnover machines" their management had just hired. It seems likely the Sams' int% will go down given the change in scheme and situation, the question is my how much? Will he drop to 2.0 or 2.1 like the other two? Every time I look into this stuff I find something else that just tells me that Darnold should ball out. If he does, we're a 10 win team. If the 2020 jets can beat the Rams and Browns, the 2021 Panthers can beat the Bucs.

Though I don't think we should bring back these players, I'm also not in the camp of not trying to get good players this year so we can save cap. The huddle is a fascinating mix of ideas. On one thread people are calling for Rhule's head because they feel we don't have a LT, on another we have people posting that we shouldn't spend much for one because we're not SB bound. On one thread people are posting how Rhule is in the hotseat, and on another one we're in cool our jets we're not going to go the distance this year anyway. Yes, we wasted dollars in 2020,2019,2018,2016 and before that at least every other year on losing seasons. Why did we spend so much money to lose, when we could have just bargain-basement-ed those years and rolled over so much cap, we'd have to win the SB? Because it doesn't work that way. People complain about never having two winning seasons in a row, but then we have this attitude that we're not going the distance anyway, just save your money. Fk that sht. Every year we should play to win, that includes player acquisition in the offseason. We shouldn't sacrifice the long term for the short term, but we shouldn't soft-tank or full on tank the short term either.

I agree its a tough division. Tepper knows that. He chose Rhule. Its not likely we'll be in the SB soon, so we agree there. Its not likely Rhule will get booted soon. My point is that some people are so disappointed in these offseason moves that they keep posting dream sequences of our coach getting fired and its early to predict his firing.

These dream sequences about Rhule getting the boot because he passed on Fields or chose Darnold or didn't draft OL in 1st two rounds are quite common here. I guess I need to start posting things like: How big a contract is Darnold going to get when he balls out? How long of an extension will Rhule get after we reach the playoffs? Which hand will Rhule wear his SB ring on? To me these are just as fanciful. We don't know how Sam, Rhule, or the team is going to do. Sometimes you just have let it go...let Fields go... otherwise it starts to feel a little stalker-ish.

Three QBs? OK so the scenario we are discussing includes not only Sam's failure, but the failure of the unnamed subsequent successor. Why are you referencing this scenario?

You know this is a common theme here, that Tepper will be quick to move on from Rhule, when so far, he's shown a lot of patience with staff. He kept RR and Hurney much longer than many of us anticipated. Rhule's been here one year and we had the same record without CMC, Luke and Bradberry, losing 8 games by score. By most account's he's overperformed. Not to mention 60 of 70 mill contract is guaranteed. Do you really think Tepper is going fire Rhule so quickly?

He's been here 5 years with >3k posts. I've noticed @Waldopie-ing anti Darnold posts. He hasn't posted since April. Those posts seem to indicate he wanted Fields and LT rounds 1 and 2 or maybe OL in both rounds. I don't think he's happy with Fit, Rhule and Darnold atm.

I think he shined at camp. I think they had TB there to ease Sam in, but then traded TB to the aints before the season started.
