That's good sports rankings. Guess who's #1?
SBBlue replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
The guy is hilarious and a big Broncos fan so he loves Teddy Bridgwater. He calls him Teddy Throwsavelt. His best/worst from the Panthers Saints Game: -
In the pressers the players are saying the right things. Snow was up all night Sunday. They seem all business. Houston is NOT as bad as team as everyone says. Probably 7 win team if Watson played. They have some O weapons if Davis has time to get it to them and Ingram can run the ball. We showed a lot of tape against the Saints so now everyone has something to study. We should beat this team but.... Any given Thursday.

[Official] Panthers @ Texans | ClutchFans Their fans are pretty demoralized: Verbal Christ: National TV game, struggling rookie QB going against best defense in NFL? That should go well. juanm34:Hopefully they black it out. whag00: Kudos to the Panthers for taking a chance on Sam Darnold. Now they may have their QB for the next 12 years.

Go ahead, admit it. Huddle confessionals.

I'm not sure there's enough disk space on the huddle for mine, but here's a few: I was originally wtf.....Darnold? Then I wanted to draft Fields. Seriously another defense pick? I thought trading down was stupid. I thought a blocking TE in the 3rd round was stupid. All of the above changed when I saw a video talking about the situation Darnold was in. I then looked up some stats and realized that Rhule was onto something. So I began to question most of my opinions and have been koolade drinker since mid May. Cody on the C3 podcast cemented it for me. I also thought Shaq was overpaid, but apparently LB's thrive like QB's do when you put the right pieces around them. Since I've been a koolade drinker I thought: Erving and Elflein were meant to be depth pieces and backups. I thought we drafted BC to be our LT of the future. I thought we'd be putting it up on the shelf to Terrace Marshal and Dan Arnold in the EZ corners when we're near the goal line. -
The good news is, in two weeks, we can claim him back. /sarc

The Dline has a couple weak links, as does the LB core and the secondary.

Joey Slye: Reverts to practice squad - CBSSports.com

If don't have holes to run on Thursday, I'll be very disappointed.
-
I agree. We schemed to get the ball out quick which is OL friendly and have the best RB in football who still get yards when there is no hole. We also max protect for deeper drops like on the Robby 57 yarder in the jets game. We know our OL isn't the best and we scheme around it. I'm not against upgrading the OL, even mid season. I'm just trying to give props to OL for two pretty good games that exceeded expectations that resulted in two wins, especially after the huddle has denigrated them for months.
-
Yes. Yes it is.
-
If the blitz was picked up, it wouldn't have happened. Sorry, that ones on protection. It should have been called a forced fumble. It looked like a forced fumble, was originally called a forced fumble and should have stayed that way.
-
On top of it, we leap froged the saints who are now at 13. I wasn't expecting this. Welp, they know we're coming now.
-
How does ripping on OL-men get us another winning season?
-
You're right, Davenport started against the Packers. Payton Turner was their first round draft pick. I assumed he'd start opposite Jordan. I was wrong.
-
That OL held enough to get the job done against one of the best DLs in football, and yes, every one of their DL starters played. Props to the OL.
-
The jets invested a first rounder last year and a first rounder this year on their line. They are players who huddlers had on their draft board. These are good players. Both started week 1. They brought in Morgan Moses with a high PFF to play RT. Zack Wilson has been sacked 10 times. When we do invest in a day one lineman, the huddle will say its the wrong one and will scream, you idiots, WE knew which one pick. Before the season, PFF said we had one of the worst lines in football. The Panthers OL is not performing as the worst line in football. The OL is exceeding expectations. Instead of giving credit, the huddle is nitpicking whichever lineman performed the worst last week. This is a waste of time. Haters gonna hate. I just wish they'd spend more time hating on other teams players.
-
Not in pass pro. Darnold wasn't touched once when Elflein was on the field. We marched downfield and scored. Elflein is out now, so the huddle can pick on a different o-lineman this week.
-
I get that. But all the more reason to celebrate our OL when they do pretty well, which they have done. They have exceeded expectations these last two games. Far from perfect, but those DL's were nasty. We are the 12th man. The saints in their press conferences talked about how loud the stadium was and how it interfered with their communication. We should be sending our negative energy to their players...not ours... especially when we win.
-
I agree.
-
True. But I've been spending time on the other teams forums. We are one of the worst on this. Here, its a drum beat with repetitive "Can he play LT" posts and thread after thread on the lineman we should have drafted or photo play by play shots of our linemen missing blocks and thier pff scores. Even after wins, we are horrible. Go visit em. If we aren't the worst, we are one of the worst. We use the words the "garbage" and "trash" to describe our line. You can say other boards do it to our scale, its just not true. Daley has some shield from it here for whatever reason, so I expect our sights to turn to Erving, but we'll see.
-
sorry I missed...who's name?
-
The huddle seems to like him. His first year did not look great. Last year he was injured. Against the jets, Paradis helped him a lot. His rookie year 2019 57.7PFF on 686 snaps, 2020 64.7 on 135 snaps and 47.9 PFF so far this year. He'll move the left side where he's more comfortable. Hopefully he's ready.
